Chapter 3

Tucking her unruly hair for the hundredth time behind her ear Sejal nervously stepped into the Block-B of RCSM making sure she didn't stumble out of nervousness on the very hard rock road. After about five minutes, crossing about twenty two white polished pillars Sejal landed into a large spacious room enough to fit half of the student population of any well established college. Being here felt so nostalgic for her own obvious reasons.

The room was already timorously filled with many people representing different dimensions of class like status, gender, races and religions. Like a world having no differences and being a doctor standing between all of them felt more awesome because this was a place where a human couldn't be judged, all that mattered is the love and passion of the doctors for their patient.

In the center of the room there was a huge ivory statue polished with gold of Dr. Shravan Bhattacharya; the founder of RCSM.

Shravan Bhattacharya is like a messiah for millions of people living out there, not only in India but in the parameter of a worldwide range. He is famously known as the Vikram Sarabhai of the science and medical world, nine years back after the death of his beloved wife Dr. Suhana Bhattacharya he had established the RCSM officially. From a mere lab to a giant scientific world was the transformation.

Employment for the best, embarking the best education giving an everlasting treatment to the patients is what RCSM had earned in the recent years with its hard work and passion for disease, best diagnostics, and love for human kind. It has become as one of the best private firms of developing India.

A lady draped in a maroon stiffed sari approached Sejal with a blanch face; her tag clipped on the left side of the sari read Kiate Anthony; executive representative of the public relations department.

"Miss Seghal?" Kiate questioned although she must already know about all the minute details also but still for confirmation purpose, Sejal nodded politely not feeling the need to open up her mouth.

Within no time Kiate asked her to follow into an isolated cabin where she took Sejal's fingerprint in the tab she was carrying around, and then she even took an iris scan. Then again Kiate took her right hand thumb impression following the other hand finger respectively.

Sejal had anyway suspected about a deeper procedure something like this only to occur. She was just scared that they are not going to upgrade their security levels by taking tongue print.

Obviously the tongue print does differ from human to human.

Sejal was beyond glad when Kiate finally updated her profile with all the scans, because it always felt creepy to share these things with bigger organization because they may morph out anything just for their own benefits, but again she couldn't stop joining places only because she couldn't trust the scans after all thousands of people are already employed here.

"Security purposes, Miss Seghal." Kiate mentioned seeing the utter discomfort on the face of her victim today, it also not the first time she had seen people scared of technology though she couldn't quite understand why?

Kiate then gave a piece of paper to Sejal which read-Official. G-24A also painted with a bar code in the end; that made Sejal wonder of how did the technical team of RCSM ever think of a bar code to be used for reference purposes?

Sejal looked up at Kiate confused obviously expecting an explanation about the coded paper which Kiate hopefully did, "There will be a stroller after you get out from the lift put this into that, it is completely for identification purpose as you are not having an ID card of RCSM, the lift is on the second left from here 24th floor. Counselor 4."

With no other further words Kiate left the cabin as Sejal made her way to the lift fighting her nervousness with deep controlling breaths like how she has been thought from years to remain calm whenever the brain is running into pandemic holes of drowning.

A man and a woman entered the lift in the next floor completely dressed in formals; they gave a little acknowledging look at her and then continued their talk about some shares and business stocks. That was enough to make her wonder of either she was at the right place for giving the interview because still now her eyes hadn't witnessed a man or woman in a white coat with a stethoscope, not even a nurse for the sake of matter.

She got out at the twenty fourth floor and immediately found a scanner cum scroll identifier like how Kiate has explained earlier, then not sure if she was at the correct place she simply walked in the deserted corridors in search of any room tagged Counselor, that surely made her weirdly think why was an interview being held in a counseling room?

Shutting her paranoid side of the head she sighed finding the room in search; Counselor 4, taking one final deep breathe she knocked on the door hoping to be on the best behaviors of her manner teachings.

A deep voice ordered a come in and she immediately felt like it felt similar, like she had heard it recently. Assigning the search engine work to her sub conscious she tried to calmly concentrate on the present task; that is walk into the room without making a fool out of herself because she had read enough wardrobe malfunctioning cases in the magazines lately so she just wanted to come clean on her first act of walking inside with the best body language, which she almost did until she found herself saying.

"Mr. Richie, You?"

Sejal's nervousness was doubled watching the smirk play on her employer's face; her gut knew how she had completely messed up with the chance of this interview unknowingly yesterday itself, even before the beginning of something it felt like ending.

All she could do is just hope that the handsomely devilish man wasn't going to take a wrong impression on her earlier behavior of yesterday and cut down her only chance to join RCSM. Because no one else in this entire world would know how much important it is for her to seal this opportunity, after all it was a dream come true to join a privilege like this.

She had tried collecting maximum information about this firm, but obviously it wasn't an easy job to find out who your interviewer would me. She watched the sexy devil place his coat on the chair besides, playing with his eagle cufflinks. He was in a white shirt leaving his top two buttons open giving an ample access for his bare skin to peep outside the fabric, to say it looked good would be an understatement; he was looking damn hot distracting her nervousness for a time being.

"Yes Muneca, it's me."

"I am Dr Sejal Seghal not Muneca, wait I think I am in the wrong place." Sejal said hoping that she was right because she didn't expect the man from yesterday being her interviewer, now that he had mentioned Muneca she was damn sure it was the wrong address Kiate had given her.

"Remembrance of God is like a fire in which you incinerate your sins." The source of her eye pleasing view spoke leaning back to the work table as the sunlight entering the room through secret holes gave a five o clock shadow to his jaw having a little of beard traces, his voice seemed like a velvet flow of chocolate same like his eyes.

"What?" Sejal quickly lowered her gaze knowing well this was not the time to show tongue power realizing that her voice had come more pointedly than she had actually intended to convey.

"I didn't get you , Sir." Sejal re framed in a polite manner controlling her anger and deliberately adding the Sir after an over thought that it may at least cool down the cocky beast standing in front, which was obviously amusing him because he let out a little smile play on his lips.

"Oh! So, now we are done with nicknames I guess."

Only if Raghav would be here; her other best friend working in the IT industry he would simply say, Mathematically Sejal's annoyance is equal to the amusement of this rich man.

Now all she wanted was the name of this man and a pretty cup of cappuccino, because her nerves were in the verge of break down out of the sight of an intimating handsome man who may fuck up her interview anytime. Was he a doctor?

"Leave it. So, now when we are being professional why don't you have a seat first, Miss Seghal." With very calculated actions Sejal took a seat, the only one available farther from the man which was just one feet from him and suddenly he leaned in front towards her which immediately made Sejal duck backwards making the chair squeak loudly in the silent room. For a moment she felt like he stared at her but coming out of her delusional thoughts she watched him dimming the lights and succumbing back into his initial position like a model ready for a photo shoot.

Sejal let out a breath realizing how his mere intimacy was making her feel conscious, racing up both her pulse, heartbeat which made her curse herself for behaving so stupid like a girl on hormones. Wasn't the nervousness enough for an inner fight that being conscious pumped up?

"So you are working in James lab?" He asked turning a page in the bright red file which had the resume of Sejal.

"I used to work as an intern in James lab. I joined a year back and worked under Dr Raghunandan and later under Dr Sofia; the one having the patent for the latest polio vaccine."

Sejal said staring straight into his eyes, because when talking always look squarely into the eye is one of the signs of radiating confidence in you. She wanted to break the eye contact and avert her peripheral to somewhere but something was holding her back, maybe the intense stare he was returning back. On any other day when she is dressed up she may add that he was maybe mind fucking her but right now that couldn't be the case because she was just in a plain dark kurti, so this felt something different. Feeling challenged Sejal still continued staring in the chocolate pool of arrogance.

After almost like an eternity which was obviously just forty five seconds Sejal gave up pushing her stare hastily to the large life like visual of Shravan Bhattacharya on the wall, because she couldn't afford one more slip up in messing up the opportunity.

Destiny brought me back played and the handsome man checked his phone which made him smile and then he simply declined the call; that only meant one thing he was a very important man as he was allowed to attend calls during the duty.

Sejal couldn't sum up what had made him smile either their staring contest or did the song just made him smile, maybe the caller person was the reason she thought and stopped over thinking the matter.

"Why do you choose RCSM?"

Sejal didn't wanted to be blunt in answering but her reply simply bought a questioning smile on his face which meant he was impressed.

"I didn't choose, I was chosen."

Sejal's smile grew bigger and bigger enough to touch her ears making her understand that the reason behind her answer was the acquiring of cockiness from him in the past few minutes she spent breathing in the same space as his.

"Nobody likes overconfident people."

The smile on Sejal's face disappeared for a second but was plastered back in jinx, because she was prepared not to get disheartened at any cost today even if she is going to fail this interview she promised herself of treating herself an ice cream.

"It's just confidence sir."

He remained expressionless, after about half an hour of normal medicinal questioning which was really surprising because she was being questioned on what she knew not on the other about she didn't knew.

And suddenly before Sejal even had the time to turn around and decipher the sound of a knock a man in a white coat and a stethoscope; finally she thought, the man was also a handsome soul which made her wonder either RCSM was running model agency also or she simply didn't have even an ample touch of beautiful men till now.

"Hey Shetty don't mess up with the . . . I mean Seghal."

Her interviewer; Shetty shut his chocolate eyes muttering a fuck under his breath as the newly entered man simply stared at her and then back at the red file on the table.

"I am sorry Aryan, I had no idea."

"We are done."

With that Aryan Shetty walked to the door not before taking his blazer from the chair where he had left, pushing the door open he left the room leaving her and the new handsome man alone.

Both of them couldn't fix up either the done part was for Sejal about the interview or for the other man for his stupidity, which made her turn towards him with a mixed set of emotion.

"I think you have some explanation to do, Dr Unknown?"
