Chapter 2
"It's been forty eight hours twenty minutes and three seconds with the addition of five milliseconds." Darshan mocked tapping his watch, which was surely agitating the handsome hunk seated in front of him.
"This is not very funny at all Dr Vyas."
Aryan checked the reports of one of his regular patients, being disinterested; his mind was still wandering around how upset Shravan Sir had been on learning about Aryan's secret experiment on the newly suspected disease. Which happened forty eight hours twenty minutes and eight seconds ago back in time. Not to forget the disease is only suspected not yet proven medically for its existence, according to Shravan Sir it was an illegal practice against hospital rules and to some extent even against mankind.
". . . . . Twenty three girls."
Aryan looked at Darshan in a very confused state, of when and how did the conversation turned out to be about twenty three girls?
"What twenty three girls?" Aryan questioned still absentmindedly running through few of the reports, because he knew he had to anyhow go through them again.
Darshan watched Aryan in horror as his eyebrow shot up dramatically.
"Oh! My God. You weren't listening?"
"No. I mean, yeah. I mean..... obviously I was listening." Aryan covered up his blank fault of not listening, because he knew very well how much dangerous Darshan becomes on very little things.
The last time when Aryan mistakenly messed up with Darshan the outcome was so horrible; it was Yuvaraj. He was the new doctor put on board as an intern under Aryan, and from the day one of his work he maintained a minimum of a one hand distance between them which was quite strange; necessarily awkward also.
Aryan didn't care and simply concluded that maybe Yuvaraj liked to be extra professional. Obviously who minds? Even Aryan had named him expro in his thick head, but later he came to know that someone has passed the news to Yuvaraj that Aryan had the balls for guys. Ridiculous! After much of secret inquiries through Voina it came out that Darshan had arranged this rumor, which Darshan labeled as a sweet revenge.
It's not like Aryan is against bisexual people, gay or lesbian community, in fact he has a very great respect and a support to LGBT group for his own personal reasons, but something like that on his straight character wasn't a pleasant remark.
With the memory still freshly swimming in Aryan's head he didn't wanted a new one, at least not at the moment when he was just bashed by the founder of RCSM; Shravan Bhattacharya. Darshan continued suspiciously eyeing Aryan as if he could find the proof of Aryan not paying attention to him through those chocolate swirls of pool. Not to be caught quickly Aryan averted his eyeballs, his peripheral stared at the white ceiling of his cabin hoping for some miracle to happen so that he could figure out the mystery of twenty three girls.
"Okay, can you please tell me what was I talking about?" Darshan popped in the question, well aware that Aryan wasn't listening, putting aside the files in his hand which made Aryan smile nervously.
Aryan started calculating the possibilities of twenty three girls. It's such a large ratio. Then definitely Darshan is not talking about going on a date or who knows if such things were still on that stupid dating app, but he never talks about these things at working hours so better cut this out. Maybe he is talking about his patients but why the hell all his patients will be girls, strike this off. Darshan is into the panel too so maybe it can be about resignation but how come twenty three girls resign at a time, minus this too. Then what the hell was he talking about?
Aryan stared with a clueless expression at Darshan which made him gave the I-knew-you -weren't -listening type of a look. Aryan smiled creepily like a grim reaper forced to turn into a joker.
"I was telling that Yuvaraj dumped twenty three girls in the last two months."
Expro. Twenty three girls? Now it was the turn of Aryan whose pupils enlarged like saucers and eyebrows shot up in complete astonishment of why the hell they were uselessly discussing the personal life of an employee?
"Are you serious Darshan? Instead of work you are gossiping?"
"You better don't tell that. From the last seven minutes I'm going on telling you about the new interns and the student's ratio on it you were the one lost in wander land Dr Shetty."
Guilt addressed Aryan, because Darshan saying Dr Shetty is a bad indication. How didn't he think this before? It was the time for interns and obviously like every year Darshan was set by the panel for this whole process thing.
"Sorry dude I was disturbed so I couldn't catch up with you." Aryan apologized being genuinely sorry about having his head being chopped off from universal conversations.
"Whatever Shetty, now listen you are going for the debriefing today and that's final."Darshan said stressing the final part leaving no room for any argument knowing very well that Aryan is a charmer and can very easily prove a snake as a stick.
"Protocol is protocol either the CEO or any ward boy." Darshan added with a wink to cool down the unpleasant flavor in the white cabin giving two files to Aryan, one being blue and the other was bright red.
"These are the hard copies and I guess the hub had already sent you soft copies Aryan."
With that Darshan made for the exit, making Aryan take in a deep breath of relief and out of complete exhaustion. Darshan is impossible sometimes, is what Aryan concluded after every such similar encounters like the twenty three girls thing of today.
Aryan opened the soft copies of the two doctors on his laptop and went through the first one, Rahul Choudhary. His academic performance was quite impressive which included his twenty research papers, a brilliant mind. After fifteen minutes Aryan knew everything about Rahul by heart, both professional and personal lives.
Losing privacy is one of the payments of joining RCSM.
Then Aryan opened the second file and it was a girl. Obviously Darshan wouldn't let this one go without giving his special essence of the obsession of his for a love life. There was a photo of a girl, out of instinct he glanced at it with his observing eye and soon realized with his better judgment that he shouldn't have seen it. A girl with hazel eyes, as sharp as the edge of a knife, with semi curly brown hairs loosen till her waist and a pretty smile tucking her lips stared pointedly through the picture at Aryan.
She was beautiful and ravishing are the two things which he claimed after seeing the photo, his eyes appreciating the art laying in front. For a few seconds Aryan couldn't tear his stare away from the photo, then he went to check the next page for further information; Sejal Seghal was the candidate name.
Holding on with the information in the file Aryan pressed his temples discreetly, trying hard to remember something. Then it finally hit Aryan, he has seen her before in fact even met her earlier today. She was the same girl in the orphanage; the fallen worker.
After the study on her file, her qualification and experience made him wonder of why such a brilliantly beautiful and sexy doctor was working in the orphanage? Or did he miss connecting the dots?
~
"This is the eighth time woman."
Sejal clipped her hair behind her left ear, intently staring at the mirror only to find a hazel eyed girl in a turquoise loose shirt paired with a blue jean smiling back at her. Not satisfied with herself Sejal turned to her best friend who was sitting and munching chips without a care in the world on the queen sized bed; a bed enough to fit the population of two unruly girls and a giant blue teddy bear stacked at the center wearing a tie printed - LIVE.
"Katu, how am I looking?" Sejal asked her best friend about her dressing sense which she was trying to choose for attending an interview.
"Exclusively ready for a trip to the zoo, woman." Katyusha said chuckling which made Sejal look back at the mirror, horrified of her poor sense in dressing, but it felt like Katyusha was over exaggerating things like always.
"Woman you better start overestimating my style statements. You are going for an interview not to woo boys or on any vacation so please get something formal."
Katyusha said stuffing more chips into her small mouth making Sejal wonder of how still she manages to look all fit and sexy with that much of junk intake.
"Katu help me." Sejal commanded snatching away the chips packet and shoving it into one of the open drawers of the black round table beside.
"Go to hell, woman. I'm not helping until I get back my chips."
"Come on Katu, I hate these chips and they snatched my only friend from me so first my dress up then chips." Sejal said shuffling through the bunch of hanged clothes in her wardrobe; she threw one plain white shirt followed by a simple flower printed black kurta as Katyusha watched her friend with puppy eyes for getting back her chips.
"I get my Chips first and then your dress up." Katyusha protested checking her golden manicured nails which were precisely matching with the color of the oval wall clock hanged right above the window, shielding the deadliest of sun rays into the vibrant room.
"Dress up then chips." Katyusha could partially listen to this as Sejal was now head inside, and calf outside position, leaning into the wardrobe pulling out some silk dresses.
"Chips then ..."
Being completely annoyed Sejal pulled the packet out of the drawer and threw it at Katyusha which she immediately caught and mocked as if kissing the chips, already stuffing five into her mouth.
"So after eight successful failures finally the doctor, Sejal is approaching me." Katyusha started speaking dramatically, simultaneously watching through all the dresses now thrown on the bed which surely looked like a complete mess and Sejal was definitely going to have a bad time trying to fix them back into their places again.
"Freeze your drama for some other time Katu, now help me and its surgeon not doctor." Sejal pleaded rummaging through the innumerable clothes spread on the bed like a display of rainbow in a deeper view with all the different shades. Katyusha twisted her lips staring between a white camisole with an overcoat and a plain dark Indian kurti, pointing at the kurti she gave her nod approving it to be okay for an official meet.
"Aye, Aye Surgeon." Katyusha mocked after, although Sejal wanted to start explaining the very famous misjudging about Doctor and Surgeon to Katyusha but she knew her friend better because it will just turn out to be the case of explaining a wall.
Sejal was more than amazed that it took Katyusha just two minutes to figure out the dress while she was struggling from the past twenty minutes and even thankful that her bestfriend didn't start with another round of speech of how people now a days are not aware of ethical clothe choices in the professional business.
"Don't worry Sejal you will be fine, and yeah your uncle called saying that you weren't answering his calls again." The mention of her Uncle made her eyes do a slight twitch, as she walked into the bathroom to get changed.
The last thing on earth Sejal would want to do is talk to her Uncle today, he will again start with the values lecture and why she shouldn't be going to the interview at RCSM. Now it had officially been proven that problems and Katyusha are the wheels of the train running on the same track, she didn't want to involve Katyusha in her matter with her Uncle; who was her legal guardian also so she made a mental note of calling him the first thing after the interview.
She has her own past and is not ready to share it with anyone, at least not anytime sooner, which is one of the reasons she doesn't let more people intrude her life. It took her own time to get closer to Katyusha, maybe shopping and dresses is what bonded them together as Katyusha Reddy is one of the rising stars in the fashion industry.
Having a fashionista best friend, who wouldn't want an official stylist for them self?
Thinking about fashion her mind wandered to the three piece suit handsomely rich man she met at the orphanage, his smile looked devilishly beautiful in contrast to the chocolate eyes. With a well built body and a pretty chiseled face that man radiated confidence and power, she could bet he would simply take down a man only with his aura of arrogance and captivating power. It definitely took courage to carry on a personality like him.
Still thinking about the handsome man she only wished her interview would be a smooth one, as starry as the night right now, only she could do is believe in her skills and trust the contemporary of time.
Hoping for a better tomorrow is what every human truly desires.
