Tetra walked into the lobby. Ava, Evyn, Lo, and Hero waited for her whilst talking in whispers. Ava pointed towards Tetra and all of them turned to face her.

"Tet," Lo said. "You brought us together years ago. That's great, but you're unstable. Evyn or Ava isn't sure why you're like this right now, but you're staying here."

"What?" Tetra started to protest, but before she could get any more words out, Lo kissed her. She backed away. It felt almost sour, the kiss. Like betrayal.

"Fine," she seethed. "If you want to abandon me, go. I'm sure Evyn can handle our half by herself." With that, she stormed upstairs.

Lo watched his girlfriend's feet disappear around the corner, but he didn't have time to run after her.

"I know she hates me right now," he said aloud, "But I don't want her to die out there because she's stuck in her own head."

Hero rested his hand on Lo's shoulder. "You did the right thing. Now, we need to stop the demons."

The four of them exited the building and walked down the main street. The South tower was at the end of the road. It appeared oddly peaceful, but the unusually red windows on the first floor demonstrated its true nature.

After getting a few block away from the tower, Ava transformed and carried Lo to the top of the tower. The air cascaded through his hair as she lifted him high above the surrounding buildings.

True to Hero's word, the door was atop the skyscraper, very similar to the previous door but much larger. There weren't many demons exiting the door, but one caught sight of Ava and Lo.

It screeched, alerting the other monsters to the intruders that awaited them. Both teens landed on the roof. Lo cleared the current occupants.

"The rest will be here soon," said Ava softly. Her halo was dimming. Rumbling shook the foundation of the tower as the hordes made their way to the roof.

Lo looked over the edge, signaling to Evyn and Hero that the path was clear. He watched them run into the entrance.

"Ava, you need to get ready."

"I'm getting weaker. You're going to have to hold the line alone, with your blade." She raised her hand towards it and it glowed slightly brighter. Then she collapsed again.

Slight panic crossed Lo's face as the first of the demons burst through the stairwell.
