Oh, my god. Did you girls get shut in the closet? Why didn't you call me?

CLAUDIA
(sheepishly)
We left our phones out here. We were stuck in there for hours.

CLAUDIA'S MOTHER
Oh, I'm so sorry. That must have been awful!

The girls exchange knowing looks, smiling.

CASEY
Actually, it wasn't that bad.

Claudia's mother takes a closer look at the girl.

(hesitantly happy)
Casey? Is that you?

Casey nods, still grinning.

CLAUDIA'S MOM
Well, it's been too long. Unless you're thoroughly sick of this house, you're welcome to stay for cookies.

CASEY

Cookies sound wonderful, ma'am.

Claudia's mother hurries into the kitchen, beginning to chatter. The girls walk in behind her, still smiling at one another.

INT. HIGH SCHOOL - DAY

Claudia and Casey walk up to the building together. They exchange smiles.

Their hands are shown. Around Claudia's right and Casey's left wrists are colorful, childish friendship bracelets.

The two girls take each other's hands and enter the school building.
