Chapter 10

The person in the picture above is Ethan

As Todd and Jacob entered the cafe, Jacob couldn't help but have an awkward, uncomfortable expression on his face. Jacob has skipped classes here and there, but he's never left school property before while school was going on. If anything, it left him slightly on edge.

Todd could see the discomfort Jacob was in even before they entered the cafe, but it just made him chuckle, wanting to tease the smaller one even more. "You sure you're okay there, bud?" Todd asks with one eyebrow raised, the same smile on his face the whole time.

Jacob instantly looked up at Todd once he heard him speak to him and cleared his throat. He figured Todd could see from his expression that he was uncomfortable, so he tried to change his facial expression to look neutral. "O-Of course I'm fine, I've skipped school plenty of times." He glanced up at Todd after saying that, seeing Todd wasn't believing him. He cleared his throat before saying "come on, let's order something" walking towards the cashier first.

Todd lightly chuckled to himself, following behind Ryan to the counter and looking above the employee's heads behind the counter at the multiple TV's on the wall, showing the menu of what they had to offer.

"I think I'll just get a water" Todd says, walking up to stand beside Jacob.

"Who the hell orders a water while they're in a cafe?" Jacob questions, looking up at Todd like something was wrong with him.

"Well most of the stuff here are so sugary, and I got to keep this body looking it's best all the time, don't I?" Todd reassures, smirking at Jacob and slightly flexing in case Jacob took a quick glance at his body.

"Yeah, whatever...if you're not getting anything then find somewhere to sit, I'm going to order some stuff and meet you there."

Todd nodded, agreeing to what Jacob said before turning around and walking around to the seating area. There weren't a lot of people there considering school was still in session, and most people were at work. Todd took a seat near the back of the cafe, it was the closest table near the wall.

When Jacob had finally gotten his order, he brought it to where Todd was seated and placed it all down on the table. Jacob slid over the water Todd said he wanted, and also placed down a white hot chocolate with a donut. As Jacob took his seat, Todd glanced at what Jacob got and questions "really, you're going to eat all that sugar?"

"Yes, I am, so what?" Jacob asks in annoyance, picking up the donut in it's paper wrapper, taking a tiny bite out of it before drinking his hot chocolate.

"No reason."

"So...why did you suggest we leave school...or to even come to this cafe?" Jacob asks, taking another bite of his donut but had one eyebrow raised in suspicion.

"I don't know, just thought it would be a better place rather then in school where a teacher could catch us and you could get in trouble for skipping. Or maybe that would be a good story, a nerd like you going to the office because you skipped class."

"Shut up" Jacob chuckles, kicking Todd's leg from underneath the table.

Todd smirked, feeling Jacob kick his leg from underneath the table and slightly bit down on his bottom lip for a moment. "So, why not tell me a little about yourself?"

"About myself?!" Jacob repeats, a bit surprised.

"Yeah, tell me something about your family or whatever."

Jacob looked up at the ceiling, thinking about it for a moment, leaning back in his seat while biting into his donut again. "Hm, well I'm an only child, living with both my mom and my dad. What about you, do you have any siblings?" Jacob questions, generally curious.

"Same here, I'm an only child too!"

"Wow, no siblings to be jealous of your good looks?" Jacob teases in a smirk, sipping his hot chocolate.

"Oh, no if I had siblings, I would definitely be the best looking sibling."

"Someone's confident."

"It's not like you denied it either."

Jacob's face flushed into a bright pink before looking down into his cup and smiling to himself.

Back at school, Kevin got to school late which made him walk into class in the middle of a lesson. "Kevin!" Carter calls out Kevin's name as he walked into the room.

"Please don't shout in the middle of a lesson, Mr.Gym, and Mr.Chu please stop coming to class late." The teacher says in a sigh before turning around and continuing to write whatever she was writing down on the board.

As Kevin sat down at his desk, Carter glanced at him and then pulled out his phone, texting Kevin 'Why so l8?'

'Woke up late.'

'Woke up late from late night partying?'

'No, you know I don't party...'

'You know what that means then'

'No...I don't know what that means.'

'It means we're having a party on Saturday, your house!'

'Do I have a say in whether I want to host a party or not?'

'Nope'

'Thought so.'

When the end of the day came, Lucas was ready to ask Ethan if he could go to his house on the weekend, but before he could even ask, Carter walked into the room and stood in the front of the class, where Nate usually stood.

Once he saw everyone was in the class, he announces "Kevin is hosting a party at his house on Saturday, so I guess since we're all in the same club, you're all invited." Carter says before sitting down in the seat he usually sat in.

Nate was surprised Carter was inviting everyone to Kevin's party and was slightly happy. "That's an amazing idea Carter, this would be a good experience for everyone to get to know each other outside of the club...like the karaoke night! It'll be so fun!" Nate then went back on track, saying "okay, everyone get into their partners, we have to finish brainstorming our ideas."

As everyone got into their pairs, Ryan pulled Nate off to aside before explaining "Nate...is it okay if I be partners with Max?"

"Max...why would you want to be partners with Max...and Max already has a partner." Nate explains, confused on why Ryan wanted to be Max's partner.

"Long story...the principal just told me that I have to watch out for Max and I guess being his partner would be a good way for me to 'watch out' for him?" Ryan suggests and Nate nodded meaning he understood.

"I get what you mean, I don't think those two would mind a third party joining their team of two." Nate says in a smile before bouncing his way back over to where Jake was sitting, quietly.

As Nate sat down, he started to write down some ideas he had quietly on a paper in front of him, glancing up from time to time to see what Jake was doing. After a while of the awkward silence between the two of them, he tries to start conversation. "So, are you thinking about going to Kevin's party on Saturday?"

Jake nodded meaning yes and Nate looked at Jake surprised. "Really, you're going to go to Kevin's party? You don't seem like the type of person to party to me." Nate answers in surprise.

"I always go... to his parties." Jake replies, leaving an awkward pause in between his words.

"Really, wow, you don't seem like the type of person to party to me but I guess I'm wrong. I want to go to Kevin's party but I don't know where he lives..."

Jake looked at Nate for a minute or so before hesitantly answering "I... pick...you...up?"

"You...would pick me up, for real?!" Nate asks in surprise, getting instantly excited with a smile spreading across his face.

Jake nodded and Nate slightly squealed even more then he already was, now more excited. This would be Nate's first high school party, and he was anticipating it a lot, to say the least. Instead of focusing on their task at hand for the club, now Nate was trying to think about what he should wear to the party, or how he should style his hair.

Meanwhile with Ryan, he walked up to Max and Lucas who were sitting down at Max's desk and smiled, bringing a chair with him. "Hey, I'm your new partner." Ryan says, sitting down on one side of the desk, smiling at both the boys.

"Catholic freak is our new partner?" Max questions, looking at Ryan with one eyebrow raised, looking at Ryan like he didn't want Ryan to be his partner.

"Yes, I'm your new partner...so what do you both have brainstormed so far?" Ryan asks, looking from Lucas to Max.

Lucas awkwardly chuckled, running his fingers through his hair before explaining "we actually haven't been doing any of the work."

"Because he keeps trying to persuade me to open my legs for him." Max mumbles under his breath before rolling his eyes.

Ryan's eyes shot open when he heard Max and glanced at Lucas, a light pink spreading across his cheeks.

"Well you've been ignoring me-"

"Because all you want to do is get with me and it's getting annoying, what do you not get from that?!" Max asks, now raising his voice in anger, getting others attention brought onto him.

Lucas glanced around the room, seeing they were now causing a scene and tried to clear his throat as a sign for Max to lower his voice. "I don't always..."

Lucas got cut off by Max now saying in a louder tone "don't tell me you don't always because you do! It's annoying!" Max shouts, standing up and storming out of the classroom.

Ryan looked from Lucas and then to Max who had stormed out of the room. Ryan hesitantly stood up, saying in a stutter "I-I'll go and get him" running out of the room to chase after Max.

Meanwhile with Ethan and Carter, they were sitting face to face from each other, not saying anything, and not bothering to brain storm anything either.

Ethan managed to break their silence with a hesitant question "d-did you...invite....me to that party too?"

"When I invited everyone, I meant to invite everyone except for you. I don't want someone like you there, you're just going to ruin the whole mood of the party." Carter explains, rolling his eyes.

Lucas then popped into the conversation, putting one hand on Carter's shoulder before saying "of course he's joking Ethan, Carter would love to have you there, you're a part of this club. You should obviously come to the party tomorrow...you will come, right?" Lucas asks, looking at Ethan with a smile, yet a serious expression on his face.

Ethan didn't know what to say, he wanted to say no because Carter said he didn't want him to be there, but it was like he was trapped by Lucas, he felt that even if he did say no, Lucas would try to continue to persuade him to say yes. "U-Uh....s...sure..." Ethan hesitantly answers, glancing at Carter to see if he was okay with it.

Carter lightly sighed, looking up at Lucas in a glare, but Lucas continued to have the same smile on his face before leaving the club room.
