9.0 | Stab Wounds and the L Word

KAI WAS FOLLOWING JOSH AND ELI, far enough for them not to notice, but close enough to help in case something went wrong. She had found her car and was driving as slow as possible.

The two boys were walking, with Eli's bike between them. They suddenly stopped and talked for around fifty seconds before continuing their journey to the high school.

Eli was dressed in his Baron Triumph costume, which was pretty believable if you didn't get too close. Kai kept her eyes peeled for any threats that could harm or kill her boyfriend and Josh.

Kai had to leave her car by the road so she could follow Eli and Josh through a park. She had her gun in the holster on her hip, and her sword on her back.

The girl hid behind a tree, close enough to hear what the two were talking about.

"Are you sure this is gonna work?" Josh questioned Eli as he sat in the cage attached to the motorcycle.

"Oh, yeah. I saw it in Star Wars," Eli responded. "You're gonna be like Chewbacca."

Josh furrowed his brows, "Oh, what? And you're gonna be Han Solo?"

"Hell to the fuckin' yeah!" Eli laughed as he closed the cage.

Kai's blue eyes landed on a figure rushing towards the two, noticing the pink poncho. By their running style, she could tell it was Hoyles - and he was rushing towards Eli.

"Shit.." She muttered before sprinting over to them and getting in front of Hoyles, causing him to tackle her and Eli to the ground. The boy didn't realize just who he was attacking until he looked up, his eyes landing on Kai's face.

"Hoyles, you twat, that's not Burr! That's Eli Cardashyan and Kai Dean!" Josh exclaimed. Hoyles looked between Josh and Kai before removing Eli's mask.

"Sup, turd?" The boy asked with a smile.

Hoyles widened his eyes, "Fuck! Fuck!"

"Hey, lemme outta here!" Josh screamed, banging on the cage as he tried to undo the latch.

Eli sat up, holding Kai up as he yelled at Hoyles. "Yeah! You better fuckin' run!"

"Hoyles, you asshole! Hey! Get back here! Let me out!" Josh yelled before undoing the latch and hopping out of the cage, rushing over to Eli and Kai.

A mutant pug tackled Hoyles and began humping him, causing the three teens to chuckle. Josh rushed to Kai, "Hey, Kai, are you okay?"

She nodded before coughing, blood shooting out of her mouth. The teens looked to her torse, instantly recognizing the crimson red stains that were forming.

"Babydoll," Eli began, laying the girl onto the ground and moving from under her, "I told you not to come with us!"

She looked to the boy, "Look what happened to me. If I hadn't been here, Hoyles would've fucking killed you. I couldn't let that happen."

"But you wouldn't be bleeding out if you just listened to me."

Kai smirked, coughing lightly. "You know me better than anyone, did you really think I wasn't gonna follow your bitch asses? Look, this blood is gonna attract the ghoulies. You and Josh go get your cards and save Sam."

"No, we're not leaving you here to die. I'm not letting you die." Eli stated, his brows furrowed as tears gathered in his eyes. He looked to Josh, "You take the costume and get Sam. I'm bringing her back to the mall."

Josh nodded before Eli took off the costume and handed it to him. They both looked at the blonde girl on the ground, whose eyes were closed.

"Kai, babe, how far is your car?"

She slowly opened her eyes, "On the road, where you guys came into the park from."

Eli nodded, "Alright, I'm gonna carry you, okay?"

The blonde blinked before looking to Josh, "Save my cousin, and keep her safe."

Josh nodded, "I promise. Stay alive, alright?"

"I'll try."

Eli picked the girl up and began running to her car with Kai in his arms. He was not letting his girl die because Hoyles decided to try and kill him.

"Eli," Kai tiredly began, "I'm not gonna make it." She said as he pushed back the passenger seat and layed her on it.

The boy shook his head, "Don't say that, Kai. You'll make it. I-I'll help you. I know how to treat stab wounds from my medical class."

"You took a medical class?"

"I wanted to be a rich doctor. Look, just please hold on. Please." He begged, starting the engine of the car and speeding towards the mall. His right hand was holding Kai's left one tightly, hoping that she would be able to live through this. He didn't know what he'd do if she didn't.

"Guys! Guys, hey!" Eli yelled as he entered the mall. The kids rushed towards him their eyes landing on Kai. "Get me all the medical supplies you can find, and meet me in the furniture store."

Everyone nodded and scattered to find supplies. Kai was drifting in and out of consciousness, furthering Eli's worry.

"Stay awake, Babydoll. I promise, I'm going to save you."

Kai nodded, instantly taking the pain meds that KJ handed her before drifting off.

"What the fuck happened out there? Where's Josh?" KJ asked, concern laced through her tone.

Eli's eyes widened slightly at the fact that KJ could speak perfect English, before he answered. "Hoyles thought I was the real Baron Triumph. He went to stab me, but Kai jumped between us. Fuck, we need to put pressure on the wound until she stops bleeding, then I have to give her stitches and cover them. Get me some nylon string and a needle, please?"

"How do you know how to treat a stab wound?" KJ asked, walking over to one of the other mall kid's to tell them what to get.

Eli shrugged as he cut open Kai's shirt to take a look at her injury, "I took medical classes. Wanted to be a rich ass doctor and help my family out." He sighed, looking at KJ through his eyelashes, "But now all I wanna do is save my girlfriend's life."

The girl nodded in understanding before handing him the nylon and the needle. Both hadn't even been opened yet, so he knew that they were unused.

Carefully, he stitched up the wound before making sure Kai was still alive. Lucky for him, she was.

Eli nodded, "Alright, I'm gonna lay her in mine and her bed so she can rest. Tell the other kids what's going on, alright?"

KJ smirked lightly, "You're not a complete asshole after all, Eli."

"And you're not a complete bitch." He said, before exiting the furniture store and gently layed her on their bed, kissing her forehead as he covered her with the blanket. "You're gonna live, Babydoll. I just hope you wake up soon."

Just as he was about to leave to help the mall kids out, he looked over his shoulder. "I love you, Kaira Dean. I always have."

With that, he left the mattress store.
