We all sat at the kitchen table with cups of coffee. Aka's mother, Rosa, as she had introduced herself to me. Before I'd had a chance to introduce myself, Aka insisted on hearing why her mother was alive and not dead as she had been told.

"Well," Rosa started, sipping her coffee. "When your father was in that mission to protect that little boy? He soon realized that your uncle wasn't going to allow it. He was worried for our safety. So, we got some of the other doctors at the hospital to help me fake my death. After my fake funeral was held, I escaped here under cover with the help of my old friend, Newgate. I actually heard from him about you living here now, Aka." Rosa said.

"So... you've been here with Whitebeard the whole time?" Aka asked. Rosa nodded.

"I desperately wanted to contact you, Aka. But I was terrified that Doffy would come for you if I did. Then a revolutionary showed up at our place the other day. One of the three boys Newgate took off of Garp's hands. The blonde one. What was his name again?"

"Sabo?"

"Yes, Sabo! He informed me that he and his squad apprehended Doffy the year before. I wanted to find you immediately, but by the time I found your address, you had already left for Ace and Aoi's wedding." She said.

"So, how did you get in the house?" I asked. She smiled at me.

"One of the kind men that are watching your dog thought I was my daughter and he let me in. I believe his name was Shachi?" She said.

"Well, so much for him being best man." I mumbled under my breath. Aka giggled and nudged me. I gave her a smirk. Rosa took another drink from her coffee and set it down.

"So, when is the wedding for you two?" Rosa asked. Aka's face immediately became red.

"W-wait! How could you tell we were engaged already?!" Aka asked in a panic.

"Well, aside from the fact that when I came in to my daughter's room this morning, I found her sleeping in the arms of a man?" Rosa asked.

"We've been living together for a year..." Aka said. Rosa raised an eyebrow.

"And how long have you been engaged?" She asked. I drank my coffee.

"Two days..." Aka said. Rosa stared at me expectantly.

"And have you two... shared your bodies with each other?" She asked. I choked on the warm liquid.

"Mom!" Aka said and facepalmed. Rosa stared at her.

"It is only a question, Aka." She said.

"A question about our sex life!" Aka said.

"Yes." I stated. The two looked back at me.

"What?" Rosa asked.

"Yes. I have made love to your daughter on more than one occasion." I said.

"Was it satisfactory?"

"Mother, that's too much, even by my standards."

"What? If your man can't satisfy you, it won't be very good for making children." Rosa said, making me choke on my coffee again.

"Mom, please." Aka sighed. I smirked.

"Well, now I know where you get it from, Aka-ya." I said smugly. Rosa burst in to laughter.

"Wait, are you telling me my daughter is a pervert?" She laughed. I nodded.

"I've caught her peeping on me in the shower more than once." I said. Rosa howled with laughter. I smirked over at Aka. She rolled her eyes at me and smirked back.

"Oh, my." Rosa said as she calmed down.

"Oh, that's right, I never got your name." She said to me.

"Trafalgar Law." I said. I watched Rosa's eyes widen.

"Is your family- by chance- from Flevance?" She asked. I swollowed hard.

"Yes. My father was a surgeon and my mother a doctor." I said.

"Your Mia's boy." She said. I froze. I hadn't heard my mother's name in many years. Not since I was 10 when my parents were killed, leaving me and my sister behind.

"You knew my mother?" I asked. She nodded.

"And your father, Ren. They were work friends of mine for a short period of time when I was transfered to Flevance for a year." She said. I stared at her in awe. There was a beat of silence.

"You had a sister. Lami. She died the year before my husband found you. That tore Roci apart. He had hoped to save you both. Am I right?" She asked.

"Mom, that's a little touchy-" Aka started.

"You are correct." I said. Rosa nodded.

"A touchy subject, I see. I'll leave it be, then." Rosa said. I drew a breath of relief.

"Thank you." I said.

"So, tell me, Law. What do you do for a living?" Rosa asked.

"I'm a surgeon." I answered. Rosa smiled at me.

"Following in Ren's foot steps?" She asked. I nodded with a smile.

"You really have grown up well, Law. The last time I saw you, you were still a crying baby." She said. I stared. Rosa smiled kindly at me.

"I helped Mia give birth to you. I am a doctor as well, you know. Though if your parents ever mentioned me to you, they probably called me Dr Mizu." She said. The name clicked in my mind.

"Yes. They did." I said.

"I figured as much. I was engaged to Roci for a year when I helped birth you." She said. Rosa stood and walked over to me. She cupped my cheeks and stared at me. She'd tilt my head to the side every now and then.

"Hm, the resemblance you bare to Ren is unnervingly uncanny. Just shave off your little soul patch, put on some glasses, lose the tattoos and lighten your skin ever so slightly and you could be him." She said. I smirked at her.

"Darken your skin and change the shape of your glasses and you could be your daughter." I shot back. Rosa laughed.

"Is also need to grow an inch." She laughed at me, releasing my head.

"Mom.... you'll be at our wedding, won't you?" Aka asked. Rosa smiled.

"Try to keep me away. I dare you." She said with a grin, making the resemblance between her and Aka scary. Aka smiled at her mother.

"Anyways, I best be returning now. I have to make sure that Newgate takes his medicine. I'll see you later, darling." Rosa said and kissed Aka's head.

"I've left my number on your fridge. If you ever need anything, just call." She said. Rosa left after that, leaving Aka and I in silence.

"Mom always was rather... straight forward." Aka said. I looked at her.

"It was so long ago for me, so it's hard for me to remember. The only way I actually recognized her was by the fact that it was like looking in a mirror at her." She said.

"Your mother's speech pattern is very different from yours." I said.

"Oh, yeah. Mom is from a noble family. While she's direct her speech pattern is still like grandma and grandpa's. Actually... that's kinda the reason she and dad met and... kinda why Uncle Doflamingo killed Dad." She said. I stared at her.

"What do you mean?" I asked. Aka sighed and sat back in her chair. I reached over and grabbed my lover's hand.

"Well.... mom was actually in an arranged marriage with Uncle Doflamingo."
