11. Fighting
They had their first fight. It was probably stupid in other people's eyes, but it was extremely heated. It was one that left them both storming off in opposite directions, like a true cliché. She wasn't sure why she has been so heated, people said it all the time, but for some reason when Adrien mentioned Chat Noir as Ladybug's sidekick, she couldn't let it go.
The following hour had been them screaming at each other about why or why not he was a sidekick or not. Accusations were thrown, actual objects were thrown, and then they both left and went their separate ways to cool down. One thing that somewhat settled her restless mind was that they didn't throw anything but pillows at each other.
It was ten minutes later that she found herself standing outside Chloé's hotel. She knew that Chloé was busy, but she also knew no one would try to stop her from going into her room. She was a familiar face for the past few years, after all. Once she got to Chloé's room, she kicked off her shoes and fell forwards onto her bed, groaning into the duvet.
She only realized that she fell asleep when she woke up a few hours later. Sitting up, she realized that someone had moved her from the end of the bed to actually be in it. She was both embarrassed and grateful at the same time. On one hand, someone had actually found her in that position. On the other, she knew that her position would have left giant cramps in her neck if they just left her.
Looking around, she saw Chloé sitting on the couch reading a book. She couldn't see the cover from the distance, but it was engaging enough that she didn't notice her waking up. Yawning, she got up from the bed and walked over to Chloé, flopping down next to her. The blonde looked down at her before marking her place with a bookmark and setting the book aside.
"Feel better?" She asked, pulling the elastic out of her hair. Marinette gave a grunt of confirmation as the tension pulling at her scalp lessened. "Wanna tell me why you ran in here looking like the flames of hell were fuelling you?"
She sighed before sitting up and pulling a pillow towards her chest. She mumbled something along the lines of, "ve gohrt eenphew a shight," and stared down at the carpet. She could feel the holes Chloé was burning into the side of her head with her eyes.
"Could you repeat that in French please?" Chloé's tone said it all. She didn't need to look at her to see the raised eyebrow.
"We got into a fight," she sighed.
"Seriously? Must've been big for you to come storming in here like you did. What was it about?" Blushing, Marinette shoved her face into the pillow and didn't say anything for a few moments.
"It's stupid. You'll just laugh." She was barely understandable, but she was clear enough for Chloé to promise not to laugh at whatever it was.
"It, uh... we were arguing about whether or not Chat Noir is Ladybug's sidekick." She averted her eyes as she spoke, but snapped them right back towards Chloé when she heard a snort. "Hey! You said you wouldn't laugh!"
"I didn't," Chloé said. Her lips were twitching, making it all too obvious that she was at least trying not to. "Listen, just go find him and apologize. He'll apologize right back and then you two can laugh about it later."
"Yeah but what if it doesn't work and he's still mad at me and I get mad at him again and we start fighting again and it gets even more heated than it was before and we break up and the paparazzi find us and post about it and then our careers are ruined because we—" she rambled, barely taking any breaths as she increased in panic. It was probably the one thing that was still sticking around from her teenage years. She couldn't help it.
"Marinette." Chloé cut her off and smirked at her. "I've known him since we were in diapers. It'll be a miracle if you can get a word in before he starts apologizing to you first. You'll be fine and I can assure you that your lives won't collapse from a fight about Chat being a sidekick."
She gave her a sheepish smile as she nodded and picked at a stray thread that was sticking out of the pillow. She really needed to stop blowing things out of proportion when she started to overthink.
