Chapter Six
"You are so reckless." Stacey scoffs. Margaret had just returned from her announcement. Stacey led them into the ballroom to plan the upcoming ball. A tailor stands off to the side with five dresses on stands and a platform in the middle.
Margaret steps on the platform and gets fitted in the first dress. It was maroon and was strapless with a sweetheart cut. The top was tight and pushed her chest up. It was bedazzled with rubies until it hit her waist. The skirt shot out and pillowed into a layered gown. The tailor went to work shortening the skirt and working around her waist.
Stacey, meanwhile, runs around with, maids and servants trying to place the band and the new chandelier. "Put the dessert table there, and the ribbons should twist around the pillars." "Hey! I'm pretty bored over here! Could you come over, or could you get something for me to do?" Margaret asks, playfully.
"Fine, fine." Stacey rolls her eyes. She gives a few orders before walking over. "What do you want to talk about?" Margaret half-laughs and replies, "I wanted to brag about my fiancé. He is very handsome." Stacey laughs, "I heard that you two might have-" "Who told you that!?" Margaret quickly interrupts. "I-I mean, sorry, what were you saying?" She stumbles.
"I heard that you and Arron were planning to be innocent rulers." Stacey hesitantly finishes. Margaret relaxes as best she can in the tight dress. She was worried that Stacey knew about them almost breaking their promise.
The tailor keeps trimming the dress and finishes with this one. Margaret steps off the pedestal and twirls around. The servants decorating stop to awe at her. She laughs so hard she snorts. This makes Stacey start to laugh and everyone ends up laughing together for a long time.

Once all the dresses are fitted and the ballroom is finished being decorated, Stacey and Margaret walk through the castle gardens.
"We haven't walked through here in a long time." Stacey says, twirling around in the sun. "I remember my father would kick us out here for disturbing the staff." Margaret giggles. They keep talking and walking until John finds them and catches up. "Hey!"
"What are you doing?" Stacey asks.
John catches his breath, and says, "I needed to tell you guys, once Margaret is coronated, the knights will leave."
Stacey gasps and stops walking. Margaret stops and turns to see tears running down Stacey's face. She rushes over to her and tries her best to comfort her. This is a bit of an overreaction Margaret thinks. John joins them and asks, "What's wrong? This is good news." Stacey looks up to him and shakes her head no. She turns around and runs off, her long blue dress trailing behind like a river.
John runs after her and they disappear behind the bushes. Margaret keeps walking through the flowers and the trees. Birds chirp in the distance and squirrels play in the shrubs. Horses snort and relax as they are brushed in the stables. The slight breeze catches her long, black hair and swirls it around like a loose ribbon. With the wind, whispers from the gossiping town fly past her ears. The doubts they have of such a young queen, the distaste for the monarchy. Those who don't want to be associated with France.
These thoughts fill Margaret's mind. She stops. She tucks her head in between her hands and she collapses to the ground. The emptiness overwhelms her. Her head starts pounding. The wind surrounds her and she gets restrained. She can feels her mind starting to feel pressured. She curls in more.
A servant passes by and sees her. He bends down to shake her. When he does, she snaps out of her confusion. She looks at him and mouths "thank you" and passes out.
