chapter one

"So you're telling me, that you had no idea." He asked looking up at her. Fitzs' eyes were the gorgeous teal she's always dreamed about.

"Well according to Biana you were just as clueless." Sophie smiled, still nervous about the whole boyfriend thing.

She could feel the tingling on her skin as Fitz rubbed his thumb on the back of her hand. It was the same tingling sensation she'd felt for all her life-except this time the feeling was mutual. The two of them were seated on a love seat in the extravagant living room of Everglen.

"Let's just say we were both a little clueless and call it even." Fitz suggested. Sophie nodded and pulled her hand away from Fitz, trying to get up the courage on what she'd been meaning to ask him.

"Fitz...Im glad that we were able to figure this" She motioned to the two of them. "Out. But ever since you told me you liked me I just can't stop thinking about well you know-the Vacker legacy. What's everyone going to think when they see Fitz Vacker and Sophie the brown eyed freak...holding hands?" Sophie asked with a quivering lip.

She looked down avoiding eye contact and gave into the temptation to pull out an eyelash. Too long in the silence had gone by. "So...are you going to say something." She asked timidly. Her courage had been flying off the charts for how much she could usually manage on a boy basis but now it was beginning to descend lower and lower and lower.

Laughter erupted like a volcano after what felt like hours. As confused as Sophie was she couldn't help the tears forming in her eyes. Was he laughing at her? "No no no Sophie I didn't mean it that way." Fitz said, he cupped her head in his hands and looked straight into her eyes. "Sophie you're the strongest elf that ever lived, for anything you should be embarrassed of me." He said.

His smile was what got Sophie every time. "Look, I know this is a very Biana idea but I was thinking...that maybe, since you already registered, I could pick up my matchmaking packet." She was debating whether to give out that information or not but she thought he should know.

"If you're doing this just for me I don't want you doing it." He declared. His crisp accent made her believe that was why she was doing it, for a second.

"I think that a silly list of names isn't going to make me like you any less." She said as a blush started to creep up her face. "But I know that these traditions are important to you." She took a deep breath and continued. "And if we're a bad match-

"Then we'll figure it out when the time comes." Fitz enclosed is hand around Sophie's. Her gaze wandered back into Fitzs' eyes, she knew that if they were a bad match things wouldn't end as well as she would want.

"Oh Fitz I love you! Lets get married and stare into each others eyes for the rest of our lives" Mimicked Keefe as he strode into the room. He squeezed in between the two on the couch and wrapped an arm over each of them.

Sophie rolled her eyes and Fitz scoffed. "Well well I see team Fitzphie's ganging up on me." He pouted. "Just thought you should know Biana invited me over for a sleepover. You too Foster." He winked. "Get ready for a night of fun."
