Chapter 31

Alex was absent from university for four days. It wasn't until Friday that we heard he'd come back to campus.

According to the rumors he was just sick for four days and now he was even more cocky than he was before his disappearance. Oh great.

Although it was much to my delight when I ran into the asshole in the corridors of the campus and the cockiness that he'd always displayed vanished. The look of trying to suppress terror did not sit well on Alex's angelic face.

What gave me even more satisfaction was the look Alex gave me when he realized that Gabe was around me and my Ethereal children basically 24/7. She'd just clicked into our group so naturally.

Which honestly surprised me because I knew it couldn't be easy to be around a group that was as close to each other as the four Ethereals, Rose and Rhys were.

An example of this was Mia becoming more distant with us. It's not that she didn't like us anymore. It's just hard when you always feel like an outsider I suppose. Luckily she was gaining her own group of friends. The girl was a socialite and well loved by nearly everyone after all.

When I woke up with no pillow on Sunday morning and found Gabe sleeping on mine with a triumphant expression on her face from her dream, I got shitty at her and banned sleep overs from that point on.

That lasted a whole three days before we were back to watching movies and doing homework together before passing out, not even bothering to change into pajamas.

Leah is my best friend, but a lot of her time is taken up with Audrey these days. Rightfully so I might add. I guess it's just nice to have someone around whom I'm comfortable enough with to call a really good friend.

As for Gabe, she seemed to have gotten over any and all reservations she had about me being an Original vampire straight after I bit her. If anything it made our relationship stronger and she doesn't mind anything about me. I will admit, it's nice not having to put those damn contacts in just to hang out with Gabe.

"My mother would like to see you on the weekend." The voice of Alex pulling me out of reminiscing about the week that's just been.

"Sure, what day Alex?" I ask him while mentioning his name because I know he hates it.

"Sunday at 2 pm." Alex ground his teeth in frustration as he replied.

"See you later then Alex Lenny Davenport." I teased at him before linking my arm with Gabe's to add effect and wandering off. I could feel the anger radiating off of the Royal, even once I'd turned a corner and he was out of sight.

"You love teasing him, don't you." Gabe observed to me, not bothering to unlink our arms even though it made us look like we were in high school.

"Of course, everyone needs something to brighten up their day." I replied with a brilliant smile.

"Have you thought anymore about Rose and Rhys's request?" Gabe asked me, referring to them wanting to become my Ethereal children.

Gabe had been told about the request on Sunday and had quite surprised me with her answer. She had sat at the dining table and after thinking for a few minutes simply said, "It would be nice to know that you would always have a loving family to go home to."

I'm not sure where the girl that was deathly afraid of vampires went, but I'm glad she's dealing with us easily now. Maybe my virus that cleared all the scars on her entire body also helped clear some of the mental scars caused by Alex. I hoped so anyway.

"I haven't given it enough thought yet." I admitted to Gabe. "But I'm also in no rush, we have literally the rest of our lives to make this decision."

"I think it'll be a lot like your first kiss." Gabe said. "It'll be a big deal until it actually happens then afterwards you realize that it's not so life changing."

"The only kiss I've had other than a few boys kissing me on the cheeks came from Leah because we were all playing spin the bottle at a party." I admitted to Gabe, a tinge flushing over my cheeks from embarrassment.

"Really?" Gabe seemed amused at this. "My first kiss was at 13 years old. Her name was Samantha. We didn't date or anything but it definitely wasn't a bad first experience."

"So you're into girls then?" I asked Gabe. It was probably a stupid question, but I'd never really seen the need to bring up her sexuality before.

"I'm pretty sure that was obvious." Gabe said gesturing to the way she was dressed. She was looking more boy than girl today with a fancy button up shirt on with slacks and black polished shoes. I'd say she was rather handsome today. "But yes, I've always been into girls. Guys have never done anything for me. What about you?"

I had to think for a minute before answering the question. Not because I didn't want to hurt her feelings or anything, but because I honestly had no clue how to answer.

"I honestly have no idea." Gabe's right eyebrow shot up at my answer so I continued. "I guess that I've never been interested in anyone like that before so I don't know which gender I prefer. Maybe I don't have an attraction to anyone?"

"From what I've seen I don't think so, but I'm also not an expert." Gabe tried to reassure me, realizing that this was a touchy subject for me.

"I think you're cute and no matter who you eventually fall for, they will be the luckiest person alive." I smile at Gabe's words and gave her a tight hug in thanks.

Shortly after we met with Leah and Audrey before proceeding to our favorite cafe.

When we arrived Alex wasn't there so it looked like it was already a good day. However when Gabe stopped halfway to our usual table staring at a raven haired girl in Alex's year, I could instantly tell something was wrong.

"Isabella." Gabe said to the girl. "Is that you?"

The girl who was apparently called Isabella turned at the sound of her name and her eyes lit up when they saw Gabe.

"Baby," She exclaimed almost jumping out of her seat to embrace Gabe, who did not look comfortable by the way. "I had no idea you'd be here too. Did you miss me?"

For the first time in my short life I felt a pang of jealousy. Who was this girl and why did she refer to Gabe as 'Baby?"

Gabe immediately disentangled herself from the raven haired girl and stepped back.

"How did you find me this time?" Gabe demanded of her, which surprised me, Gabe had a stalker? I knew Gabe was attractive, but damn.

"What do you mean?" Isabella replied. "Why wouldn't I know where my girlfriend is?"

"Except we broke up two years ago and you've reappeared four times since then." Gabe snapped. "We were done years ago and no matter how much you chase me, I'm not getting back together with you."

"You're just confused baby." Isabella said, trying to reach to run her hand through Gabe's hair.

I grabbed the hand that was extending as it got halfway to its goal. "Don't touch her." I growled.

"This is my actual girlfriend, Violet." Gabe said to Isabella. Everyone present knew this was a lie but I was more than happy to play along to help Gabe out.

"That's right," I tried to make myself look as threatening as possible towards Isabella. "She's mine and if you so much as lay a finger on her then I'll be coming after you."

Isabella seemed unfazed. "Are you trying to make me crazy jealous again?" She asked.

"No I'm not." Gabe snapped, more aggressively this time. "Now get the fuck out and thanks for spoiling what was a great afternoon. But let me make this clear, you are a psycho bitch and even if I were single, I would never give you another chance in hell. Get out of my life and find some other girl to torment."

"Fine, I'll leave for today, but you'll see things my way soon enough." Isabella said as she started to leave, locking eyes with me and giving me the 'you're dead' look. I can honestly say I wasn't scared, it was quite funny actually.

"You've been saying that for two years Isabel. Now get the fuck out of my life." Gabe was almost shouting at her, even though Isabella didn't seem bothered.

"I'll see you tonight then, my love." Isabella said. Listening to this girl speak was like listening to someone that was only hearing what they wanted to hear and nothing else.

"No you won't." Gabe said, finally calming down and looking a little smug. "I've moved in with my girlfriend, so I never want to see you again."

For the first time the raven haired girl looked shocked. "You WHAT?!" She shouted.

"You heard me, now get out of my way." Gabe snapped. Poor Gabe, first she has to deal with her family passing away, then Alex and now finally bat shit crazy people stalking her.

Isabella stormed out of the cafe going to the first person she saw and demanded in a loud voice everyone could hear. "Where's Alexander, he has some explaining to do." Before she stormed off.

I had a chuckle to myself as I used my heightened hearing to follow her rampage in search of Alex into the next building.

"Alex isn't going to be able to help her much." Audrey noted. "But could you please explain Gabe?"

"Alex promised me to her after he was done with me." Gabe explain as we all sat down. "She's just a normal human who thinks Alex is rich and gets his way. She's in for a shock now."

I couldn't believe that Alex had already given Gabe away once he'd grown bored of her. My hatred for the Royal growing yet again. He'd better pray he doesn't trying anything again or I WILL kill him.

However Gabe seemed to have calmed down to her usual cheery demeanor now that the raven haired witch had left. So I left thoughts of Alex aside and just enjoyed my afternoon with my favorite people.

Looking forward to the time when we could all go home and spend time together with everyone. I must admit, I do love my life right now. Even though there are nuisances around.
