Chapter 13

I had a decision to make, granted it wasn't a hard decision and I had Leah and Rupert Mayweather begging me.

The decision entailed whether to free Audrey from her life of forced servitude at the hands of a random vampire by binding her to us for as long as we all live, in bonds much stronger than marriage, or not.

It amazed me how naturally Jamie was included as well as Leah when I thought of us. It made me wonder if I was going to think of Audrey as part of us so naturally once I'd turned her.

Although I already knew that I would never abandon a friend. Particularity one that can't even make a decision for themselves anymore. I'm just shitty that I can't make Audrey sweat a bit beforehand, I really want some payback for all the psychotic shit she's pulled on me since I got here.

My thoughts were pulled back into the present. I kind of stopped listening when Rupert kept asking Jamie the same stupid questions in fifty different ways, somehow hoping for a different answer.

I listened to Jamie, trying to ignore Leah who had unconsciously slid her arm through mine and was lightly pulling in the direction of the holding cells.

"Shall we?" I interrupted Rupert before we could begin on another string of ultimately pointless questions. "I'm tired, hungry and want to destroy the drones hold over Audrey before the sun comes up."

With that I grabbed Leah and headed for the door. We were on a mission and nothing was going to get in our way. I felt pity for anyone that would try to stop us.

I heard Rupert trying to follow behind us but failing to keep up. It's not that we were running or using vampire speed, it just sucks to be old.

We got to the prison building and had to wait for Rupert and Jamie to catch up to us. Rupert to make the security guards let us in and Jamie to tell me how this process actually works. Because I have no idea and while making Audrey bleed out of every orifice at the same time sounds fun, it would defeat the purpose of what we were trying to achieve.

We finally got through all the security and I was faced with a familiar door. It was creepy being on the outside of the cell that I woke up in on my first day here.

I didn't notice last time, but the wall next to the door is a one way mirror. Giving a perfect few of an agitated Audrey trying to smash concrete walls down with her bare fists in an attempt to escape. Everything except the bed had been removed from the cell.

"The process is quite simple." Jamie instructed. "You have to get Audrey to consume your blood Violet. But unlike turning a human into an Ethereal child, which only requires a bit of blood, it will require a lot of blood to over power the royal vampire controlling her."

"When you do this," Jamie continued. "Stop your healing form closing the wound to fast or Audrey won't get enough blood to free her from her current master."

"How do I do that Obi-Wan Kenobi?" I replied. Sick of people asking me about things I had no idea about

"Remember how you let an idea build in your head then you were able to move it to someone else? Well this time, instead of building the idea and moving it, I want you to just move the idea away from certain body parts. That should stop your healing for long enough to turn Audrey."

"Ok, I can do this." I said, attempting to psych myself up. "Think happy thoughts. Unicorns farting rainbows, Justin Bieber getting his head shaved, an anvil crushing Audrey's toes. Ok, I think I'm ready. Open the door Papa Smurf." I said, turning to face Rupert.

Rupert entered a code on the pad next to the door and I heard the hiss of the bolts open.

I didn't wait until the door opened on it's own. I took off into the room at near supersonic speed, grabbing Audrey before sitting down on the bed with her on my lap, restrained. All within 2 seconds of the door opening.

Audrey didn't seem surprised that she was suddenly retrained, but she still tried to struggle of course. But what can you do against a creature that is many times stronger than you?

I concentrated on moving the idea of healing away from my left hand and arm before pushing my fangs out of their protective pouches and using them to slice open my wrist.

I waited a second to make sure that I really wasn't healing before shoving my freely bleeding wrist into Audrey's mouth, forcing her teeth apart and allowing the blood to flow down her throat.

She tried to bite me of course and without my vampire abilities in my hand, it fucking hurt, but she was also increasing the blood flow into her mouth so I had to endure it.

After what seemed like hours, but in reality was only 10 or so seconds, I couldn't take it anymore and removed my hand from Audrey's mouth as well as relaxing my hold on my ability blocking.

The pain left me almost immediately as my hand instantly healed.

I relaxed my restraints on Audrey but kept her on my lap. She was no longer fighting, but had started to twitch. I didn't want her falling and hurting herself.

At this point Leah burst into the room and traversed it in three steps, wrapping Audrey in her arms the moment she got to us.

Jamie was a tiny bit behind Leah and stopped with a respectful space between us, also forcing Rupert to respect the same distance.

Audrey suddenly stop twitching and collapsed. The only reason she didn't crash to the floor is because Leah and I were holding her and I was acting as her seat.

She stayed like that for a couple of minutes because Audrey started to stir. "My head." Was the first weak words we heard from her as she tried to lift her hands to hold her head. "What happened? And why am I surround by both of you?"

Audrey seemed to become aware of her surroundings. The questions she just ask were proof that we had broken the hold her previous master had on her as a drone.

"It's ok baby." Leah said to her. "I've got you and Violet is offering herself as a seat." Leah chuckled at that and I made a mental note to kill her later.

Audrey turned around to face me as if she had no idea I was even there until Leah said anything.

I must admit, the slight of her stormy blue eyes instead of the red ones made me release the breath I'd been unconsciously holding. They may have a green ring around the outside of her iris now, but they were definitely her eyes.

"Why am I sitting in your lap?" Audrey asked me, confused. "Of all the people to get intimate with, you're the last on my list. No offence." "None taken, I assure you" I replied. Apparently Audrey had no idea what had happened to her. I doubt she even knew that we were back home.

"Well you see" I replied loftily. "I had to shove some medicine down your throat, so to stop you fighting like a big baby, I restrained you like this. It's the best way to make cats take their tablets, so I thought it would work with you. Welcome to the family... Kitten." I gently scratched behind her ear, getting a venomous look in return.

Audrey's face didn't show the normal anger that would be present. In her defense, she was really tired from what just happened.

"The last thing I remember was that bastard Jake injecting me with something, then I suddenly wake up surrounded by you two and you're calling me Kitten. Am I dead? And in hell?"

This made me laugh. I had to give her a hug after that. I was just glad that Audrey really did seem to be ok.

"Audrey." It was Jamie that spoke this time. "You're missing a couple of days of your memory. While it will come back with time, but we need to discuss what happened and what it will mean for you from now on."

Jamie's serious tone was like a knife through all the relief about Audrey being ok. This was going to be a huge shock for her and no one knew how she would take it.

Jamie proceeded to inform Audrey about what happened while she was out, as well as explaining what an Ethereal child is and how I saved her life by turning her.

Audrey's response was of course denial, until she went to the mirror and saw the green rings on the outside of her eyes for herself.

"You bitch." Audrey spat at me. "How DARE you turn me into one of your little minions. I HATE you." She stormed off. After that outburst, Leah followed after her.

"Apparently she doesn't seem to understand that it was this or eternal slavery." Jamie mumbled as Rupert left to chase after his daughter. "Don't worry Violet, you did the right thing. Her missing memories should return in the next day or two. Hopefully that will change her attitude."

I smiled weakly at Jamie. He'd only just been reunited with us as an Ethereal family and he'd already slotted into the father role perfectly.

I knew I'd have to deal with Audrey and preferably sooner rather than later, but for now I'm going to take Jamie's advice and wait until her memories return.
