Chapter 13

3rd paragraph

It felt so boring. They both were sitting opposite to each other, just sitting; no movement, no talks, no glances from Seol. She was busy typing on her laptop whilst he just played with his fingers.

It was raining, again, which didn't cause any excitement for Seol this time, her due date was just a month away and she needed to edit her book once again. She wanted to make sure that whatever she wrote was perfect or at least somewhat near to the word.

While her fingers were typing something every moment, he kept on turning glance at her. His eyes wandered from her face to her laptop to her fingers, that typed with the speed of light, and finally to a piece of crumpled paper kept, more like thrown, over the table. He grabbed it immediately, hoping for some plotline to be there.

He held it near his eyes, the syllables smudged, maybe it is old, he strained his eyes to read the writing.

It wasn't any plotline or those small 'points to add' she made.

It wasn't something he really hoped for.

It wasn't something anybody would've known about.

It was something he shouldn't read, something that broke him, just the few words in that letter broke him.

So, he was the one, huh? His eyes wandered from the harsh words to the bottom of the letter, where the name was scribbled.

He felt anger rising in his gut. Ever since he had met her, this was the first time he felt like breaking all the boundaries and confront her with whatever that letter held. He wasn't angry with her, not a single bit, but what she had been hiding all the way long, he never thought that the beautiful woman sitting in front of him would've faced all that.

He knew how relations meant a lot to her. That she was the kind to give her all in a relationship. That she would trust someone with everything she had. That she would be broken if she was left.

Jeon had a sudden urge to pull that being out of whatever hell he was living in, hit him, punch him, slap him and just end up strangling him to death. He didn't know why. He didn't have anything in his mind to argue or to reason about, he just stared at that paper, and willingly, he tore it.

"What-" She finally looked up from the screen to him and when she did, she instantly got up from her place and walked over to him with concern in her eyes. He was breathing heavily, soundly. Hands still held the torn pieces of the letter, while his eyes frowned. There was a tint of red on his cheeks, his jaw clenched harder than she had ever seen.

When his eyes met hers, she noticed rage. Flames blazed in his orbs, causing his eyes to look more fierce than they ever had. And there it was, he grabbed her arm and pushed her to the wall.

"Jeon, wha-" She tried to protest, but his grip hardened, causing her to wince in pain. She shut her eyes immediately as she felt the intimacy between them increase and her head moved sideways.

"Why didn't you tell me?!" His voice wasn't calmed. It was just that he wasn't shouting. He grabbed her chin, making her look at him. Her hands grabbing his wrist, attempting to push the aching hold away.

"What is wrong with you?!" Her voice didn't tremble, rather it slightly echoed. Her eyes threw daggers at him but he didn't care.

"With me?! SOMEONE JUST COME AND BREAK YOUR HEART AND YOU HAVEN'T SHARED THAT TO ME! WHY? OR IS IT THAT YOU ARE STILL IN LOVE WITH THAT DIPSHIT? HUH? ANSWER ME GODDAMIT!"

Her eyes quivered, travelling past his shoulders and over to the torn pieces. She didn't realise he'd get that, she had thrown the paper away when she heard the doorbell ring. After that she never looked for the paper, or for the tears she had fought before greeting the now fierce looking man.

But why would he see it? She had already asked him to be a little respectful about her things and just ask her before touching them. Her eyes glimmered with wrath and his hands loosened their grip, eyes widened when he realised how he was caging her.

"I-" He didn't mean any of that. He was an idiot to react that way, and he never thought that his anger would get the best of him.

"You- Jeon-" She took a deep breath as he pushed himself away from her, his eyes drowned in guilt as his lips kept on quoting his regret repeatedly. "Get out."

She said that so softly but he figured out the harshness behind it. It hurt her, his actions scratched her wound and she was about to cry.

"Get. Out. Jeon." She said again, walking away from him as he tried to get a hold of her hand. He wanted to apologise, his actions were wrong and he had known that very well.

"Noo-"

"GET THE FUCK OUT!" He flinched, he'd never heard her shout. There was anger, there was disappointment and their was hatred in her voice. He stood stupefied, not knowing whether to try anymore or not.

He wished he could turn time back. He would've slapped himself until he'd lie passed out on the chair he was reading that damned letter, before he would have done any of his stupidity.

What he didn't want to happen ever, happened that day. His sorrow increased as he saw a pearly drop appear in her eyes and drop down her cheek. Before he could get hold of the situation, he saw her running away into her room, slamming the door shut.

He rushed behind her and knocked on the door, as he heard her sobs get louder. His knocking fingers turned into fists, a reddish shade lingering over his palm, while he kept on banging the door with all his might.

"I'm sorry. I'm so, so, so, sorry, noona. I- I just- I swayed away. I know I am wrong, noona, and I apologize. Please open the door. I'm sorry." He whispered the last line, falling to his knees.

He wanted to cry, to share her sobs, but at this moment there were no drops in his eyes. He felt the cruelty of the moment. His heart ached, he felt his mind go numb and when he heard a click from the door, his head immediately turned up to meet her eyes.

Her swollen eyes escalated his sorrow to some other level, her reddened cheeks that he wanted to caress, her trembling lips moistened with her tears. "I'm so sorr-" And before he could complete, she fell in his arms, crying her heart out, hugging him for life.

When Jungkook focused again, they were walking along the path paved in the backyard. The grass visibly wet from the sprinkle of water, that he assumed to be done a few moments ago, and small chirps of grasshoppers echoed through the area. There were different species of plants, Jungkook wanted to click pictures of all but at the moment he needed to be more attentive. Beware of papa.

Inaya's father walked ahead of him, without giving him a look or speaking anything, further to the end of the house boundaries. Jungkook wanted to ask him what they were doing there but he kept quiet, not sure if he should or not.

When they were almost near the end, Jungkook noticed a table set up, along with white chairs and there was streaming hot coffee placed on top of the table. He wondered why, but followed him, nonetheless, as he sat opposite to her father.

The tranquility increased, as he saw her father pour down a cup for himself and then one for him too. There were still questions but Jungkook didn't want to push his way through, so he acted along with Mr.Hayes.

"She likes you." That wasn't a question, neither was there any doubt in his voice, it was a declarative sentence and his eyes didn't waver.

It caught Jungkook off guard and the hand he had pulled out to grab the cup of coffee was now hanging between him and the cup.

"No need to be shocked, Mr.Jeon. My daughter, I know her very well, and she wouldn't act like an idiot to just cut a cake. She was trying to save you." That made Jungkook smile as he pulled his hand back, with the cup, and took a small sip of the hot liquid.

"She was." He whispered back to the man, giving a small nod to him and continued sipping on his coffee.

"Jungkook, if she feels so secure about you then you must be known to her past as well." For the second time, Jungkook's hand came to a halt, hanging low in air as he passed a questioning look to the man.

"I'm talking about her break up. She completely broke when the guy dumped her. She loved him from the bottom of her heart but he never reciprocated those feelings, he did, as she told, but for me he just used her. Olivia was the first one to find out, and both the girls tried so hard to hide it from us, they never wanted us to worry. Or maybe they knew that their father would be very angry at that person and would want to hit him with his paintbrushes." He smiled at his own words. Sorrow was evident in her father's voice as he took the first sip from his own cup.

That's when Jungkook realised, they were on the same team, they both loved Inaya, they both wanted to protect her, they both wanted the best for her. He gave a small smile to the man sitting in front of him, before Mr.Hayes spoke again. "How long have you both known each other?"

"About, uhh, three years now." He saw the glimmer in her father's eyes as he sat with more attentiveness.

"That's a long time, what do you know about her. Not her social life, for sure, but her personal life. I know I may sound desperate here, but I'm her father, I need to be desperate about my children." He smiled softly, and Jungkook already gave in.

"I know everything about her, she wasn't the one to tell me in first place but eventually I found everything out, sometimes the quest was happy and sometimes it was full of grief, likely to the day I found about her relationship." Jungkook sighed.

"She is a strong woman, no denial to that fact, but she is also very sensitive. That was the first time I saw her cry and when she hugged me for support I- I... I just wanted to protect her, from everything, from everyone. I didn't know why I felt that back then but now that we are-"

"You both are together! I doubted my inspection but-" Jungkook came out of his trance when he heard the old man clap.

"Uh, I, it wasn't supposed to be told... I just, uh, you know, I uh, I was too much into thinking about her that I didn't realise what I was saying. I'm so sorry." Jungkook immediately stood up, bowing several times. Her father laughed, for the first time that day, gesturing Jungkook to sit down.

"It's totally fine, Jungkook. It's good to know that my daughter is free again, that she is loving again. Now if you allow, may I know how long you both have been in this relationship?" Jungkook noticed a slight affection in her father's voice and he smiled at the old man giving a small nod to him.

"It'll be two years soon."

――×――

"Three years and I know how flustered that guy can get when bombarded with questions! Like- Why did papa even take him-"

"He didn't take him, he is just having a talk with your boyfriend, now shut up and let me watch this movie." Olivia closed her eyes once again as her sister, ignoring her said words, continued to blabber.

"It's like half an hour now, WHERE ARE THEY?!" Inaya shouted again, praying God to take care of the poor soul which had just been seized by her very own father.

She was worried? No, more than that. She didn't trust Jungkook, moreover, she didn't trust her father. What if they both end up fighting? Her mind wandered off to the time when they both were ready to kill her ex, though not together, but if they had the access to they'd end up killing him, separately. Although she wouldn't complain, but the guy needed to be spared, it wasn't his fault as per what she believed but theirs.

And that Jungkook was dumb enough to spill everything while talking, she wished he didn't. Her father wasn't any less, he would've for sure asked Jungkook everything that popped in his mind, from his birth date to how many children he wanted. What will he even do from that information?

She pulled onto her hair, kicking her legs in the air, as her body dropped on to the soft mattress in her room. She looked back at her sister hoping she was as free as Olivia, who didn't really care. Who would just take her time out for dating and then dumping, but then again, Inaya believed in true love.

"By the way, I ended up breaking up with that gu-"

"You always do, Olaf."

"No commitments for life." Olivia rested her head on her sister's stomach, eating the popcorn she had sneaked from the kitchen under her mother's surveillance.

A loud sigh sounded through the room and Olivia turned to look at her sister, tickling her stomach unintentionally. "What?"

"Nothing, wondering."

"About?"

"You. You are different." Inaya smiled at her, petting her hair.

"For sure I am." Olivia smiled smugly, giving a pat of appreciation to herself.

"GUESS WHAT?!" Jungkook bursted through the door, almost breaking it. And before he could even walk inside the room, Inaya pushed Olivia off herself and ran to the guy, analysing him for any scratches or something like that.

"Goodness, you both didn't fight." She sighed, thanking God for accepting her prayers and mentally taking a note to never let them meet again.

"Who didn't fight?" Her father voiced from behind Jungkook, peeking in to look at his daughters.

"She was worried you both would end up in hospital," Olivia commented from behind, chewing her popcorn soundly and earning a chuckle from both the men.

"Why would I want to fight with a sweet boy like Jungkook, right son?"

"SON?!"

I'm so tired of all the discrimination and racism going on in this world. And it isn't in just one country but throughout the population residing on earth.

I just hope everything settles justified.
