Chapter Twenty Four
Hi everyone :) Here's another chapter, and I hope this one is long! I want to thank you for reading BCG so far, about 12 chapters approximately to go including the epilogue.
Yeah, I want to thank all 17K of you. WOAH THAT IS - *deep breaths, don't freak the people out* :P
Anyway, hope you enjoy this one. It took me a while to write this, because I've been on holidays and socialising (the outside world is weird O.O).

Abigail, no matter what, couldn't wipe the smile from her face. She walked with a spring in her step, the people in her tour staring at her with a spark in their eyes. Gail's happiness flooded into the people around her, making Central Park Zoo an extremely happy place to be that day.
Her brown locks flew around her face, her dark eyes dancing with sheer joy and her white teeth constantly in a smile. She wore no make-up, but she shone like a star. Delilah and Bella stared at her, an identical frown on both of their faces. Gail was currently smiling like a lunatic while portioning out food for the animals.
"Gail?" Delilah asked, the frown not moving from her face.
"Hmm?" Gail responded, looking up from chopping apples for the opossums, the beaming smile still ever present on her face.
"How was your date last night with Jack?" Delilah asked, Bella leaning in as well to hear the answer. Gail's smile, if it were possible, grew bigger at the mention of Jack. Blushing rapidly, she chopped the rest of food.
"It was amazing." She admitted, her cheeks darkening to the colour of her lips.
"And?" Bella asked, a small smile appearing on her face.
"And what?"
"What else?" Bella asked, eyes lighting up at the details she was about to receive.
Gail put the knife down, dishing the cut up food into the bowls ready. "He walked me along the beach, and we watched the rest of the sun go down."
Sighing, she turned, smiling at the two of them. "It was perfect." Gail said, before turning back to the food.
"Too perfect..." Gail whispered under her breath, her happy façade falling momentarily. Bella frowned, her wolf hearing picking up the hushed words, but Delilah's old human ears remained oblivious to it all.
Bella and Gail entered the apartment gone six o'clock, but Bella watched as Gail walked towards the kitchen. Taking a gulp of nerves, she unleashed the small amount of bravery she had.
"Too perfect?" She asked. Gail stopped, mid-making a hot chocolate. Eyeing Bella with her dark, curious eyes, she set the milk down.
"How did you hear that?"
"It doesn't matter how I heard it, it matters that I did." Bella retorted, dumping her bag by the sofa. Crossing her arms in front of her chest, she eyed her guardian. "What did you mean?"
Gail frowned at her adopted daughter; her newly changed appearance seemed to have changed her personality as well. Coming round the kitchen island, she faced the blonde inspector.
Fidgeting, her hands twitching at the glare Bella was giving her, Gail gave in.
"It was too perfect! There was nothing wrong with the date, he was just amazing. I don't trust him Bella, but my heart is telling me to trust him completely." Gail blurted out. "I can't find a flaw, and I know he is hiding something from me. Jack looks at me like I am the best thing on Earth, when I know I am far from it! It makes no sense, I don't know what is happening and I don't like what is happening."
Bella's eyes were wide and mouth was open fully. Blinking slowly, gulping down her shock, she stared at her troubled guardian.
"Um..." She muttered, before looking away from her guardian, shutting her wolf green eyes.
What do we do Gabriella? Bella thought to her other half.
She would have found out eventually.
"You know something." Gail accused, her dark eyes glaring at her. Easing off the counter, she looked at her daughter carefully.
"Isabella, tell me." Gail demanded, as Bella opened her green eyes at her. Blinking rapidly, she pulled out her phone.
"You need to get over here." She spoke once the other person picked up. "She knows."
"Who are you talking to?" Gail asked, but stopped when Bella held up her hand.
"Okay." Bella answered, before hanging up the phone. "He'll be here in several minutes."
"Who?!" Gail asked, watching as Bella walked around her and went to finish the hot chocolate.
"Gail, I think you should sit down. I'll give you the answers, but he will need to answer most of the rest." Bella ordered, glaring her down.
Gail was shocked at her order, her face paling slightly, but she still sat down on the sofa. She watched her adoptive daughter with new eyes, her posture anything but relaxed.
"Bella, what's going on?" She asked, as Bella set down the hot chocolate in front of her. Bella sat down on the other side of the table, directly opposite a stiff Gail.
"Gail, what do you believe in?" Bella asked, placing her elbows on her knees. She stared carefully at her adoptive mother, green eyes sparking as Gabriella pressed on.
"What does this have to do with anything?" Gail asked, narrowing her eyes at Bella.
"Everything."
Gail and Bella endured an intense staring contest, before Gail broke away, frowning. "Um, well I believe in God and there is a heaven and hell?"
Bella shook her head. "I get that, but do you believe in any mythical creatures?"
"Like unicorns and fairies?" Gail smirked.
"Like vampires and werewolves." Bella stated seriously.
"Well, I've read my fair share of fantasy fiction books." Gail chuckled.
"Do you believe they're real?" Bella asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
"No of course not, imagine the world if they were!" Gail laughed, smiling at Bella, but her expression didn't waver from her intense stare.
"...What are you saying Bella?" Gail asked, scoffing. "You believe they're real?"
Bella leaned off her elbows, her back colliding with the sofa. "It's against our law to reveal ourselves to the human race." She started. "So telling you this, I have two reasons why."
Gail shook her head slowly. "B-Bella?"
"Werewolves do exist Gail." Bella stated. "So do vampires. We hide ourselves from humans, so we don't get killed. There is a special division of humans, what you call psychics. They can sense a werewolf or vampire, and it's their job to hunt them down, hence their name; Hunters."
Gail started to shake her head, faster and faster as Bella continued. However, Bella paid no heed to Gail's reaction.
"We can shift whenever we want and we have a personality for our wolves. Full moon? It's nothing but an ironic joke. We have packs; run by Alphas and their Lunas. Then there are the Royals, the King and Queen, Prince and Princesses..."
"Stop." Gail whispered, but Bella ignored her.
"Silver is our kryptonite, so to speak. It burns us, and if you give us a fatal wound with it, we're killed within a minute. We have mates, beauty; we have short tempers, and we have the same senses as a wolf."
"Stop!"
"Vampires, well, they're a whole different story..." Bella stopped talking, when Gail leapt off the sofa.
"Stop! Isabella, just stop!" Gail snapped. "There is no such thing as werewolves and vampires!"
"Yes there is Abigail." Bella stated calmly. However, Gabriella raged inside of her for Gail's stubbornness.
"The world would know, the government would exterminate them or made a treaty with them." Gail accused, throwing her arms up in the air as she stormed around the apartment.
"The world can't know, because the humans would react the same way you are now." Bella stated, standing.
They don't exist, they would know. Wouldn't they? Gail thought rapidly, before halting in her tracks. She turned her head ever so slowly, locking her dark gaze with Bella's.
"You said 'we'." Gail whispered. Bella's eyes sparked, nodding. Her green eyes glowed as her wolf pressed forward lightly, and they started to water.
"What are you?" Gail whispered again, her own eyes watering as well.
"I'm a werewolf." Bella whispered back, her bottom lip trembling as she admitted the truth. A tear ran down her face when Gail shook her head again.
"No, they don't exist. You're delusional. I'll call a doctor for you." Gail stated, walking to the phone.
"Don't!" Bella growled, her green eyes shining into Gail's eyes. She froze, staring at Bella with wide eyes.
"D-Did you just growl?" She stuttered, as Bella walked around the coffee table.
"I'm sorry Gail." Bella whispered, as she shifted. Gabriella burst out of Bella's skin, staring defiantly into Gail's wide eyes. She growled slightly, making Gail jump out of her skin. Panting heavily, Gail edged along the wall of the living room, her face now as pale as porcelain. She spluttered out words, but none seemed to be understood by Bella. She followed Gail as she pressed her back to the wall, running along the sides of the room.
Starting to hyperventilate, she screamed as she fumbled for the front door under her fingers. Bella snarled at her attempt, making Gail wail again. Tears streamed down her face, as she managed to unlock the door. Yanking it open, she sprinted out of the door, and straight into the chest of someone else.
Gail wrapped her arms around them, somehow already knowing who it was. "T-There's a freaking wolf in there!" She squeaked, spinning around to see the wolf by the sofa. Its dark brown coat was a lot like Gail's eyes, but the golden tip wasn't. It was about the same height as the sofa, its muzzle just above the top.
"Bella, go to your room. I'll calm Gail down." He said, giving a dark green glare at the brown wolf. The arms around his waist tensed, before removing themselves from the warmth. Looking down at Gail, his heart clenched at the look of betrayal and realisation in her eyes.
"Jack, I never said the wolf was Bella." Gail whispered, but Jack heard her loud and clear.
"Gail..." He whispered, reaching for her. Gail backed away from him, shaking her head back and forth.
"You're one of them, too?!" She accused, backing down the front steps of the flat.
"Gail, please..." He cried, reaching for her again.
"No!" Gail screamed, sprinting away from her flat; away from Jackson, away from Bella, away from her home.
"Abigail!" Jackson yelled, but shock rendered him place at the top of her stairs. He watched her get into her car, and start up the beat-up engine. The sound removed the invisible glue from his feet, and he sprinted after the already leaving car.
"Abigail!" Jackson yelled again, standing in the middle of the road, watching the love of his life drive away.
"Abigail..." He whispered, collapsing onto his knees. A tear fell from his eye, as his heart crushed for his mate. "I'm so sorry."
