Chapter One

"James, I am not joking with you, Central Park Zoo has a werewolf!" Melanie cried to her mate, slamming her hand down on his desk. James swivelled his chair around, quite like the cliché evil character off a movie. His spiky blonde hair was swept back, his grey eyes locking with hers.

They darkened at the lack of respect she used, but he held his ego back. He clenched his angular jaw, before standing. His 6ft 2 frame towered over his mates 5ft 9, but he still loved her for who she was.

"Melanie, I can't go based on your words. I believe you, yes, but I need to see her for myself." James ordered, his voice oozing authority.

Melanie leaned away from him, her green eyes darkening slightly. "Why do I get the feeling that this is more than about the trapped werewolf in the Zoo?"

James sighed, his eyes lightening to their usual colour. "Mel..."

"Save it." She snapped. "I'll take this up to the Royals if I have to. We need to get that she-wolf out."

James snapped his eyes to her. "She-wolf?"

Melanie scoffed. "Yes, it's a female; someone's pup, someone's mate, someone's sister. We need to get her out, or at least spread the word."

The Alpha sat back in his chair, contemplating what to do. Melanie's green eyes sparked as she glared at him. James eventually cracked.

"Alright! We'll go and check she's a werewolf, I'll see if I can speak to her, find out where she's from. When we do, we will pass it up to the Royals to see if they can sue them or something." James said, before his eyes darkened a shade of grey, almost like a thunderstorm.

Mitchell and Logan, I need you to accompany me immediately to Central Park Zoo. I'll explain when we get there. James echoed his command to the required werewolves, before he got back a response.

Yes Alpha. They said in unison, before James pushed his wolf back down, his eyes returning to their light grey colour.

"James..." Melanie started, her green eyes locking with him.

"Mel, it's okay." James interrupted, knowing where this was going.

"No it's not..." Mel whispered. James's expression pained, and he stood, making his way over to his mate.

"Mel, I love you so much, I can't explain it with words. I understand why, and I am happy to wait for you." James said, placing a kiss on her forehead.

Melanie smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck. "James, what on Earth are we going to do about Jane Wolf?" She asked, giving her the name usually given by unknown rogues.

James sighed. "I don't know. If she is a part of someone's pack, then we will help them get her out. If she's a rogue, then we leave her there."

Melanie's green eyes flashed, but James stared her down. "You know the rules of a rogue. They left their packs, they left the rules, they left the community, and they stay there. You'll come with me, tell me what you know about the she-wolf, and we'll see who she belongs to."

Melanie leaned back from her mate, a look of disappointment in her eyes. "As you wish, Alpha." She growled, before she stormed out of the office.

"Hello once again!" The same tour guide greeted Melanie, who wore a fake smile over her flawless face.

"Hello! I brought my boyfriend and some friends over to see your marvellous animals, I was mesmerised yesterday." Melanie said, wrapping her hand with James. He, however, was looking around, using his wolf's nose to pinpoint the scent of the she-wolf. The tour guide was too distracted by his blonde locks, strong jaw, and stormy grey eyes to pay attention to where he was looking.

Melanie's wolf glared at the guide, jealousy filling her from the feet up, but she kept her cool. Her aura announced clearly that she was angry.

The tour guide noticed, her brown eyes widening with fear at Melanie's stance. Humans could sense the auras of werewolves, noticing their deadly beauty, but their brains didn't have the brain capacity to knowledge what it was.

"W-Would you like me to show you-?"

"No thank you." Melanie spat, interrupting the petrified guide. "I'll show my boyfriend myself."

The tour guide gulped, moving out of the way so the group could go past.

"This way." Melanie snapped, dragging James through the long walkways.

"Is it okay that the fact your jealous turns my wolf on?" James said smirking. Melanie whipped around, green eyes blazing. She pointed a finger in his face, making him lean back slightly.

"I would not mess with me, Mr Silver." Melanie snarled. "You are in the dog house, and those snotty remarks will not get you any bones to eat!"

James's eyes widened, but a smirk was still on his face. Melanie growled at him, before storming off. James smiled. His wolf loved a chase, so he ran after her.

Weaving through the mass of people, he wrapped his arms around her waist, love sparking up his arms. "I don't like you running from me." He whispered in her ear, nibbling on the lobe.

Melanie sighed. "I don't like what they've done to her."

James looked at where she was, and his wolf immediately raged. James's eyes darkened a deadly shade, and he stepped around her.

Get the humans away from here. He snapped to his accomplices. Obeying their Alpha's command, they started to ward the people away. They didn't protest being touched by beautiful men wasn't something neither a woman nor a man would reject.

James stepped forward to the cage, looking directly at the boulder within the tiny cage. He could smell the she-wolf from here. Using one of his many abilities as an Alpha, being able to project commands into the minds of his pack's wolves, he attempted to communicate to the she-wolf.

Come. He ordered.

James expected the wolf to walk out, head bowed in respect, but something entirely different happened.

She snarled, obviously hearing the presence in her mind, and prowled out, eyes locking with him. He gasped at her appearance. Her silver coat shimmered in the artificial light, her bright blue eyes locking with him. His wolf, surprisingly, ran into the corner of his mind, leaving him facing a very angry she-wolf.

James lowered his gaze, the shock paralysing his head there. The silver wolf stopped snarling, but she turned her gaze to his mate, who was watching carefully.

The she-wolf stalked towards the silver bars blocking her escape. Melanie, entranced by her luscious gaze, walked closer to the bars. James snapped out of his thoughts when he saw his mate walk towards the unknown wolf.

He immediately pulled her back, growling at the wolf. Melanie glared at him, the silver wolf herself almost smiling at the display.

James's head started to pound, as though someone was hitting his head with a sledgehammer. James hissed, eyes flashing a blazing ice grey as his wolf surfaced, and Melanie held him steady.

"Stop it!" She cried, a tear running down her face as she felt her mate's pain. "He's going to help you, stop it!"

The pounding ceased, and the she-wolf sat on her hind legs. She raised her bright silver head, eyeing Melanie with curiosity. How? Her expression seemed to say.

Melanie gulped. "He's going to bring your situation to the Royals, but he needs to know what pack you're from first. Can you shift?"

The she-wolf raised her head, her muzzle pointing at the black circle in the corner of the cage... A camera.

Melanie's jaw dropped. "Is there any way that we can identify who you are?"

The she-wolf snapped her head to the camera again, and pawed at the ground. Melanie raised an eyebrow. "Get rid of the cameras?"

The wolf nodded, before her gaze turned to what was past Melanie. One of the accomplices, Mitchell, had returned to report something, and had stopped dead in the middle of the hallway.
"It can't be..." He whispered.

Melanie snapped her head around to him, her brown hair flying. "What is it, Beta?" She said, her inner Luna coming forth.

"Luna, step away from her." Mitchell ordered, but Melanie glared at him.

"You are in no position to order me around, Mitchell. What is it?" She ordered, as she hoisted the still aching James in her arms.

"Luna, that isn't just a werewolf." Mitchell said, slowly walking towards the cage. The silver wolf pulled her lips back, baring her teeth, and growled at his approach.

Melanie looked back and forth between Mitchell and the wolf. "Is she a rogue?"

Mitchell's face paled, and the silver wolf's eyes flashed. "No, she isn't..." Mitchell whispered. "She's much worse."

The silver wolf growled deeply, eyes glowing a deadly shade of ice blue. Mitchell slowly eased James off Melanie, who wasn't pleased with the separation.

"I will explain everything when we get Alpha James to safety, but we need to leave." Mitchell whispered, eyeing the silver wolf carefully. Melanie looked back to the wolf, before deciding to do what was best for her mate's safety. She walked away.

The silver wolf's eyes broke, watering, before she raised her head, and let out an ear-splitting howl. Melanie covered her sensitive ears. She could hear the pain and loneliness the she-wolf felt, but she couldn't do anything.

Without looking back, she got out of there, not letting go of her mate the entire way.
