Chapter Five
Bella sprinted around her room, brown hair flying, as she threw clothes into her bag. She stayed in the flat with Gail for the past few years when she left her pack, and it had become almost like home. She flung her jeans, shorts, t-shirts, and only a few jumpers. Werewolves, when threatened or angry, rose in temperature, and Bella knew that she would be angered through her confrontation with the Royals.
Bella paused, a grey t-shirt in her clutches. It was Carters, given to her on one of the last days they were together.
Her green eyes narrowed, and she threw it back in the direction of her drawers. She leapt over her bed, running to her vanity. She threw in her hairbrush and hair ties. Werewolves didn't need the make-up, but only the slutty ones wore it, which contradicted their beauty.
She zipped up her bag, after pushing down on her clothes. Once she had, she collapsed on her bed, looking up at her ceiling.
Her ceiling was made of glass, making her see the stars at night, and the sun set and rise. She sighed, her brown hair spread out like a halo around her head.
How was she going to persuade the Royals about Silver? How was she even going to get into the room without their bodyguards killing her?
Bella sighed, running a hand through her brown hair. The life of a silver wolf, who meant so much to her, was in her hands, and she didn't even know if this was going to work.
"Bella?" Gail called from the kitchen. Bella's acute hearing heard her heels click towards her door. She didn't bother hiding the day bag; she left it on the bed for Gail to see.
When Gail opened the door, her dark eyes swept the room, before landing on Bella's bag. Her eyes widened in shock.
"A-Are you leaving Bella?" She asked, getting emotional. Werewolves had very little emotional capabilities, besides leadership, love, and loyalty. Due to Bella's constant interaction with humans, she had developed kindness, respect and also compassion.
Bella's emerald eyes softened, and she sat up on her bed. "Gail, I am only going back for a week. There's a ball that happens every 10 years, and I want to go. I want to know their perspective of me now."
Gail walked over, and sat down next to her. Bella could smell her 'Wonderstruck' by Taylor Swift perfume from the door, but she held onto her nose.
"If you want to go..." Gail gulped. "...then I'll let you. But call me every day, if they hurt you, come home. Please promise me you'll come home."
Bella wrapped her arms around her human guardian, and Gail's tears leaked gently onto her shoulder. "I promise." She whispered.
The five black sedans that drove the famous streets made people turn their heads. Everyone watched in wonder, as to who were in those cars. The humans had their jaws to the ground, but the Werewolves had their heads bowed.
To the human eye, they contained celebrities.
To the eye of the Wolf, they contained the Royal Family.
Consisting of King, Queen, Prince and two Princesses, they ruled and made the laws of the werewolf world. They travelled now to the Silver Pack, along with the Alpha pairs of every other pack in America. They all travelled to New York, where Central Park Zoo laid.
The black armoured sedans pulled up at the Silver pack house, where everything was spick and span. Not a weed in sight, or a speck of dust on the windows. It was all prepared for the Royal gathering being held. The Alpha pair of the Silver pack, James and Melanie, stood at the entrance, waiting for them to exit. There was also the Omega, who waited to collect their coats.
The Prince leaned forward in his seat, of the second sedan. "So, this is the Silver pack?" He asked, looking out of the window. A hand came over his chest, pulling him back from the window.
"Not yet Your Highness," said one of his bodyguards. "The coast isn't clear."
The Prince sighed, his head slouching. He thought of how much he would have to be an example at this gathering, how he would have to act as the King.
"All clear." His bodyguard said, and he opened the door. He stepped out first, holding out the door for the Prince. When the Prince stepped out, the air around him seem to thicken with power, as though his presence was commanding the wind surrounding him.
He adjusted his grey suit, a blue tie matching his sparkling eyes. His spiked blonde hair caught the sun, creating a golden crown of power. His suit hugged his muscles, the god-like figure enhanced by the expensive material.
He turned, looking as his younger identical sisters exited the second car. Both had long, golden brown hair, and brown eyes. They smiled when they saw him, and they walked over, their bodyguards closely following.
"Elliot!" The elder twin, Princess Lorraine, called out. "Aren't you excited?"
The younger twin, Princess Thalia, rolled her eyes, smirking at Elliot at the same time. "Of course he's excited. Who knows? This meeting might not actually be boring with us here!"
Prince Elliot sighed, looking out at the Alpha pair. "Come on, let's go and say hello." He said.
Melanie was nervous beyond belief, watching as the Prince and Princesses walked up the polished driveway, to her and James. The sides of her brown hair had been put up, the odd strand in her bright green eyes. When the Prince approached, she smiled, and nudged James to smile as well.
"Ow!" James whispered, glaring at his feisty mate. "What was that for?!"
"Smile, you statue." Melanie hissed, before giving the Prince a curtsy.
"My apologies, Prince Elliot, for my mate doesn't like to smile." Melanie said, earning a glare from James.
"My apologies, Prince, on behalf of my mate, who doesn't know when to shut her mouth." James retorted, earning a glare from Melanie.
"You're sleeping on the couch." She snapped, and James paled.
The Prince laughed, extending a hand to James. "Alpha Silver it's always a pleasure."
James shook his hand, smiling. "I have a feeling that this meeting will be interesting, with my mate here."
Prince Elliot chuckled. "My two sisters are here as well, so it should be interesting."
The Alpha's office had been renovated; in place of the desk was a long table which could seat 20 people, there wasn't a speck of dust in the room, and a faint scent of roses was in the office. The sun entered the room through the clean glass windows, the table glowing with its presence.
The King sat at the head of the table, his dark brown hair held in place by the golden crown on his head. His dark eyes swept over the other Alpha's along the table, looking at the in pity. The Queen sat to his right, her long blonde hair pulled up into an elegant bun, spirals of curls falling down her heart shaped face. Her full red lips parted, revealing her sparkling white teeth, as she took a sip of water from the glass. Her light blue eyes looked opposite her at her son, and she raised a pale blonde eyebrow in his direction.
Prince Elliot merely looked next to her, where Princess Lorraine sat, glaring opposite her at her twin. Princess Lorraine looked down at her food, not wanting to look at Princess Thalia. She scoffed at the display, but ate her food as well.
Princess Lorraine swept her dark brown eyes over the Alpha pairs seated at the table. There were another six Alpha pairs as well as the Silver pack and the Royals, making eight states. There used to be 9, but the Moon Pack got wiped out; many say by a silver wolf, others say by the Moon Goddess herself, but there was a logical reason.
Lorraine looked back to her twin, the anger now forgotten. Their identical eyes connected, sharing a knowing thought.
Poor Elliot...
They both looked at their brother, who paused at the unison between them as they looked at him.
"What?" He mouthed. There was no chance of being able to whisper something without no one else hearing in this office; werewolves had enhanced hearing, and the Royals could penetrate another wolf's mind to find out details that were being kept hidden from them. Nothing was safe at these gatherings.
Before the twins could reply, their father, King Claude, rose in his chair. The table immediately silenced at his standing, looking to their leader.
"Let us begin." He commanded, his own words dripping with power from his deep voice. The Queen smiled at her mate, love filling her bright blue eyes.
Bella pulled up into the driveway of her old pack, her hands turning slightly white at the nerves going through her body. She took a deep breath, as she recalled the memories that were pounding against her head.
Flashes of her younger self surfaced in her mind, of her and Carter racing each other in the fields, of her learning about the Were world in class, even of her first realising that she had a wolf. Bella shook her head, pushing the memories back.
She looked around, smiling when she noticed the five black sedans parked. She noticed the huge array of guards that surrounded the perimeter. For a moment, she doubted that she was going to get in, but then she recognised one of the guards.
She grabbed her bag, before opening the car door, allowing her scent to wash through the grounds. The guards immediately snapped their heads her way, but she was too busy running to the front door.
"Jasper!" She yelled, stopping a few metres from her old friend.
He blinked, his blonde hair flowing in the wind. His green eyes pegged her, frowning slightly. "Bella?" He whispered, unsure.
Bella nodded, smiling. Jasper beamed, before scooping her up in his arms, hugging the life out of her. "Oh Bella!" He cried, a tear spilling over his emerald eyes. Bella laughed, wrapping her arms around him, smiling into his shoulder.
"I missed you Jasper!" Bella said as he put her down.
"Where have you been girl?!" He asked, sense returning to him. "You've missed out on so much!"
Bella smiled, looking at the door. "I need to see the Alpha." She said, giving him the look.
Jasper's eyes widened. "Oh no. Not that look."
Bella nodded. "Yes, that look. Get me to the door."
Jasper breathed out in frustration, running a hand through his shaggy blonde hair. "You've got to be joking Sab." He ushered, slipping in her nickname.
She wacked him over the head, "No jokes, Asp." Bella retorted, before he led her through the doors. The place had been cleaned, no doubt for the Royals and the other Alphas'. She walked along side Jasper, remembering the layout of the house like the back of her hand. Jasper stopped at the bottom of the stairs, leading to the Alpha's office. There were six guards on the stairs, and another two on the door.
Jasper nodded at Bella, indicating for her to go up. Taking a deep breath, she walked up the stairs. The guards gave her questioning looks, but Jasper reassured them by nodding.
Inside the office, it was the Silver Alpha's turn to talk about their pack.
"So, Alpha James, what has been happening in your pack?" King Claude asked, looking at the pair questioningly.
James smiled encouragingly at his King. "Nothing harmful to our pack, nor to the werewolf community Your Majesty." He said, looking at his mate.
Melanie gave him a look, making James sigh, his grey eyes clouding. Prince Elliot looked between them in confusion.
"Something happened." The Prince stated, making both the Alphas look up in surprise.
Melanie nodded. "One of our pack members, Isabella Woods, ran away six years ago."
Everyone at the table gasped. It wasn't heard of that a pack member would run away, breaking that loyalty.
Princess Lorraine and Princess Thalia both leaned forward. "Forgive me for asking, but Isabella Woods-"
"-has the same last name as you, Luna Melanie. Why?" Princess Thalia finished her sister's sentence, creating tension in the office.
Melanie looked down at her food, no longer having an appetite. James looked at his mate in worry, feeling her pain. Taking a deep breath, he looked to the Prince.
"Melanie had a twin sister, Sophia. Sophia and her mate, Michael, were killed by Rogues. Isabella was their daughter." James explained.
The twin princesses looked at each other in worry. The Prince looked to his father, but found he was looking at his mate. The Prince looked down, thinking his own thoughts once again.
"She ran away after she was rejected by her best friend, and mate." Melanie whispered, but they could hear. "She couldn't cope with the humiliation."
The Royals nodded in understanding, before communicating silently in their thoughts. Melanie still looked at her food, her eyes watering from pain. It was why she didn't want a pup, she didn't want it to be an orphan like Bella was.
Melanie closed her eyes, blocking out the bad memories. She breathed deeply through her nose, Bella's scent filling her nose. It was like she was there...
Melanie's eyes snapped open, the green in her eyes now glowing vibrantly. "Bella." She whispered, but everyone heard it. James frowned at his mate, but when he was about to speak to her, the doors were kicked open.
Bella stormed into the room, fuming. Her brown hair was static in anger, her eyes locking with her Aunt.
"You liar!" she hissed, her anger stopping her in her tracks. Her wolf and she were connected together through their anger, making her almost invincible.
Melanie cowered under her gaze, but James stood, his grey eyes darkening. "You come back after six years as a rogue, and think that you can command your Luna?!" He roared. "Leave this room!"
Bella remained still, her anger increasing. "I've spent six years with a family that actually believe me when I say that someone's life is in danger!" She hissed, glaring at her uncle.
James blinked, sitting back in his seat, feeling an emotion he hadn't experienced in a while. Fear.
Bella whipped her head around to the Royals, who she knew she couldn't take... But she was fuming.
"Forgive me, Your Majesties, but my anger from both me and my wolf cannot be wavered at this moment in time." Bella started, looking them bravely in the eye. She pointed to her Aunt and Uncle. "Six years ago, our pack discovered that there was a werewolf trapped in Central Park Zoo." Bella said, causing all sorts of reactions. The Royals looked shocked and angry, while James and Melanie looked ashamed and angry as well.
"Bella, that's enough." Melanie commanded, but her voice wavered, the extent of the command not reaching her niece.
"I ran away when I found out that they intended to leave her there." Bella stated, finishing her confession.
"Enough of these lies!" James roared, standing up, his action shaking the table.
"Lies?!" Bella screeched. "The lie that you heard was the one where you thought that the wolf wiped out the Moon pack! She didn't, she was trapped at the time!"
James looked like Bella had staked him in the heart. Shocked. Broken. Ashamed.
"She has been trapped ever since she was 4. When she was 14, our tour group came through the zoo, and Aunt Melanie recognised her as a werewolf. She's now 20, and desperate for a way out." Bella said, now looking out to all the Alphas and the Royals. "She is someone's daughter, someone's mate, someone's sister. What if she was yours?"
Growls echoed around the table. Bella raised her head, the anger calming slightly. "I say this to you out of hope that you will help free her from the hell she has lived with the humans these 16 years."
Prince Elliot stood, walking till he was directly opposite Bella. Bella stilled under his gaze, so she looked to the floor. He was powerful, almost like Silver is, and Bella knew she couldn't take him.
Prince Elliot looked her dead in the eyes, and entered her mind, using his Royal ability to do so. He saw how she had lived the past six years, with the human, watching over the wolf.
When he saw her in her memories though, he gasped, pulling away instantly, but it was too late.
She'd seen him, and he her.
Prince Elliot gulped, before standing tall. Bella looked up carefully, meeting Prince Elliot's crystal blue eyes.
"Take me to her." He commanded. "Now."
