2012

She needed to see him.

She always do but the urge was very strong right now. An unknown emotion has settled inside her as soon as he got up and left and as of the moment, it was gnawing on her guts almost like it was pushing her to see his face. Was it guilt? Regret? Longing? Whatever it was, she didn't know.

What she knew however, was that an all messy mop of chocolate curls and dimpled smiles and emerald eyes in a form of a beautiful boy was out there and she needed to see him.

Something was stopping her but she tried pushing it in the back of her mind as she put on a hoodie jacket and walked out her house, purposely avoiding any mirrors on her way out so she wouldn't have to see her reflection.

It was the same reason as to why she only goes out to see him every three years.

At a vampire speed, she ran all the way to Holmes Chapel and flipped the hood of her jacket on her head as soon as she got there.

She walked by the woods, not going through it because something was telling her he wouldn't be there. The thought made her upset.

She walked on the streets of the village with her head hanging low. She wasn't from there and she didn't want anyone to notice that and have them talking about her. She randomly turned on streets she wasn't quite familiar with. It felt like she was here for the first time when she actually wasn't.

She had been here many times in the past.

Her eyes closed automatically as she remembered the reason why she always went here.

It felt so long. No. It was long ago.

A decade ago, actually.

A decade ago since a boy's face popped inside her mind after meeting him the first time making her feel extremely guilty, causing her to stop wandering the streets of the village and started settling her starving self with wild animals' blood instead.

The memory of their first encounter never failed in making her smile.

She turned left on a random street and was met with an old bakery making her stop and recall what bread tastes like. She had long forgotten.

Without thinking much to it, she pushed the door open and walked inside the bakery.

The smell of cinnamon and vanilla lingered in the air and filled her nosetrils as soon as she stepped in. She walked over to where the pastries were on display and carefully studied each one. She was still crouching down with her hoodie on her head, blocking the view of her face, when two voices were heard behind her.

"I'll see you later, okay?"

"Yeah. Thank you for giving me a ride."

"Anything for you, birthday boy."

Who works on their birthday? She wondered in her mind. She casually walked to the other rack so it wouldn't be obvious she was eavesdropping.

"Bye, Gem."

Gem? Her brows creased as soon as she heard the name. She felt like she had already heard it somewhere. But then, when you lived for about two centuries, you'd probably hear tons of names you'd lose count.

She turned around to glance at them and her whole body froze.

There stood infront of her was a pretty girl with purple hair and a guy infront of her whose back was facing Olivia.

But she'd recognize those curls anywhere.

"Love you," the girl with the purple hair, Gem, said as she stepped forward and pulled the boy in her embrace.

The boy tucked his chin on the girl's shoulder and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Love you, too."

Olivia's heart dropped.

The girl pecked the boy's forehead.

"Now give me a kiss," the girl said to which the boy complied. He pecked the purple-haired girl on the cheek and smiled, making his dimples appear.

Olivia's heart dropped even more.

She took a step back which resulted to, well, there was no space for her to step back on so the rack behind her slammed on the wall and caused a loud noise.

The pair both snapped their heads at her direction but she was quick to duck her head and make her way out.

Not without locking eyes with him for a second, atleast.

She ran using her vampire speed towards the woods' direction and just sat on their little spot when she got there.

What was she thinking? He could've seen her in this...form. Well, technically he had, but he didn't recognize her when their eyes met. Right. If that was supposed to make her feel good, it failed. She should never have gone back here. And to enter a bakery? What a stupid move.

She just wanted to see him without him actually seeing her.

She jumped up and hid behind a tree as soon as she heard fast footsteps and panting from a distance. She peeked a little to see who it was who interrupted her peaceful - not really - alone time.

She gasped.

"Olivia!" his voice rang all throughout the woods.

How did he?

He was there, ten feet away from her, and calling out her name. His curls were sticking to his head and the nape of his neck due to his sweat from running. His brows were creased and she didn't like that a bit, never wanted to see his pretty face with a frown. His chest were heaving as he panted from his slightly agape lips and she could barely hear his heart beating fast from where she was hiding. Although, even when he looked distressed, there was a glint of hopefulness in his emerald eyes.

"Olivia, are you here?!"

She clapped her hand to her mouth to physically stop herself from answering.

She couldn't. She wanted to, but she couldn't.

He was standing there, still clad with his uniform and he was looking at every direction, almost as if he was waiting for her to come out somewhere.

She kept watching.

"Back in the backery ... I know it was you," he spoke more gently like he knew she was listening.

Tears were stinging her eyes but she forced herself not to let it fall.

"I- that was you, wasn't it? I ... I saw your eyes. I just know it was yours. It was you."

She failed. A tear slipped past her eye and she dared not to wipe it in fear of him finding out she was there.

"It's my birthday," he said and she could almost hear the smile from his voice.

She still remained silently hiding behind a tree.

"And I," he sighed, "I miss you."

A sob escaped her lips but she muffled it with her hand. She was afraid he had heard it anyway.

He hadn't.

"Who am I kidding? You'd probably never come back." he said after letting out a humorless laugh and turned around, started walking back. He threw one last glance on the direction of the tree she was behind of but she was quick to hide herself so she wouldn't be seen.

He continued walking away.

She waited as she listened to his footsteps until the sound faded.

"Happy birthday, Harry."

She finally gained the courage to stand infront of the mirror as she recalled what happened earlier.

She was sure she has never seen Gem's face anywhere.

She's so pretty, she thought as she stared at her own reflection looking back at her. She knew she couldn't even compete.

The girl in the mirror staring back at her was horridly ugly.
