2011

The day came and here she was, slowly making her way through the woods. If she was alive, her heart would probably be beating against her chest, trying to jump out of it. Unfortunately - or fortunately, how ever you want to look at it - her heart was tucked deep inside the safety of her ribs -- unfunctioning.

She walked slowly, trying to prolong the time she had to face the boy by kicking rocks along her way or picking petals off from a flower she picked up from somewhere. But no matter how much she tried wasting time, she knew she'd have to face him. She could just turn the other way just ditch him if she really wanted to but that was the problem; she wanted to see the boy. So inevitably, she'd have to face him and tell him the entire truth.

Upon reaching their spot, she let out a big sigh of relief as she leaned against the tree, thinking that her human friend was late. She thought she still had time for herself to sort her thoughts out, although she already had the past three years to do just that.

But apparently, she thought too soon.

"Boo!" a loud whisper, if that even made sense, was spat right in her ear making her jump in surprise. How she didn't manage to hear him creep behind the tree using her heightened hearing sense to surprise her, she had no idea.

She didn't have time to examine his features like what she always did before he was pulling her through the woods. The woods was located just on the boundary of Holmes Chapel, meaning if you go through to the other side of the woods, you're no longer in the village. She hadn't gone to the other side of the woods because she knew it was a bit far from the village and people rarely went there. It left her wondering if that was infact where the boy was taking her and how the boy knew about what's on the other end.

But instead of asking, she raised an eyebrow and just let the boy tug her wrist to wherever he was taking her.

She didn't want to get into questions yet; especially when the boy had questions for her himself and she knew she didn't want to answer them as of the moment. So she let the sound of silence - chirping of birds and cruching of dead leaves under their shoes - prevail inbetween them.

They slowed their pace in the middle of their little trek, both starting to feel the soreness of their feets. They walked side-by-side peacefully; shoulders bumping into each other's a couple of times, yet still not a word was said. They were drenched in a deafening silence up until he broke it.

She listened very eagerly to every melodic note his throat produced as it deeply reverberated only loud enough for the both of them to hear. The boy's hands were clasped on his backpack straps on either of his shoulders and he was humming a song that was familiar to her but she couldn't really remember what the the title was.

Isn't She Lovely? Her mind wondered; she couldn't really be so sure though.

She knew they were near the clearing of the woods when she could already see the sunlight peeking not too far way from them. She silently wondered what could be out there that made the boy decide to take her there, but too silently so the solemn mood wouldn't be broken.

She snapped her head sidewards when she felt a hand creeping on her own only to see a perked up Harry looking like an overexcited puppy whenever they see their owner. She guessed he was about to hold her hand this time and not her wrist, so he could tug her to fasten her walk.

His eyes widened and he quickly jerked his hand back as if he was surprised of his own move as well. A blush formed on his cheeks and before he could open his mouth to reason out his deeds, she smiled and took his hand on hers and entwined their fingers herself, making they boy flush even more.

Hand in hand, they walked out of the woods; the sun rays slightly blinding them as there were already no trees that could shade them from it.

Once her eyes adjusted to the brightness of the surroundings, she gasped; the beautiful sight infront of her eyes leaving her utterly speechless.

The clearing was a meadow by the lake.

The meadow was littered with brightly-colored flowers with it's leaves looking so ever green. The lake that was beside the meadow looked so crystal clear, like no creature has ever touched it. All in all, the place looked so beautiful; she wondered if he was fated to find it.

"Wow," she breathed out.

He giggled, "That's what I said the first time, too."

She looked back at him and saw him putting his bag down and pulling a blanket out of it. He laid it out on the grass before toeing his shoes off and sitting down on it. Then, he rummaged inside his bag once again, pulling bags of chips and packs of snacks and laying it on the spread out blanket after.

She walked up to him with a fond smile. She didn't know it was possible to be even more endeared with the boy. She attempted to sit down beside him but was immediately stopped by him making her frown.

"What?" she asked.

He tutted, "Shoes off."

And okay, her smile didn't widen at that. It really didn't. (It did.)

She took her shoes off while shaking her head because really, this boy was going to be the death of her. Although she was already dead.

"How did you find this place?" she curiously asked.

"My mates and I were 'looking for adventure'," he made quoting gestures in the air, mocking his friend, "So looked, we did. Then, tada! We found this place."

She nodded her head, stopping herself from asking more questions at the moment. She didn't want to ruin the calmness of both their vibes.

He stood up so suddenly.

"Hey, where are you going?"

He looked back at her and smiled, his pearly whites on show, "I'm in the mood for a swim."

And then he was taking his clothes off; first his shirt, then his trousers, leaving him only clad in his boxers. He threw her one last beam before he scurried towards the water, dipping himself. He walked further until the water reached his chest and then he excitedly turned to her.

"The water's great!"

She just shook my head with him a smile on her face.

He tilted his head, giving her a curious look, "You aren't joining me?" he spoke loudly for me to hear.

"Nah, I'm good!" she yelled back.

He submerged underwater briefly, just to soak his whole body, before resurfacing and walking back to the meadow.

She took that chance to admire the boy.

The sun hitting his glistening body just right made him look like he was glowing; his pale complexion was strewn with droplets of water looking like diamonds when illuminated by sunlight. His curls were straightened and dripping due to the wetness, making it stick to his face, giving her an idea of what he'd look with straight hair. His pale skin was making his dark pink plump lips stand out, seeming like he used chapstick although they were natural. His boxers were sticking to his hips and thighs due to the water that was weighing it down causing it to hang low on his hips. He had this playful smile on his face and a glint of mischief in his olive eyes, making him look so youthful.

She was so entranced with the beauty of the boy; she couldn't help but think he belonged to their beautiful surroundings.

He stood near her while trying to stifle the full-beam from breaking out from his face. He put both of his hands on his hips before looking at her expectantly.

"Nope. Not happening, Harold."

His eyes widened, "That's," he genuinely looked offended, "That's not even my name."

She couldn't help the laughs from escaping his lips.

But then, she felt droplets of water hitting her everywhere, creating blotches on her clothes. She looked up to see him drying himself like a dog to purposely sprinkle water on her.

"Oh my gosh, Harry! Stop!"

He laughed, determined to pursue what he was just doing.

"Fine! Fine! I'll swim!"

She lowered her hands that was trying to shield herself and slowly peeked at the young lad. He was looking at her with big eyes and goofy smile on his lips, almost like a dog waiting for an instruction.

Then he perked up once again, and started tugging her towards the lake. He proceeded walking to the water while she stopped and stood by the edge, having second thoughts about it.

"How am I even gonna go home with wet clothes?" she asked.

He swam a bit further before turning back to her with a shrug, "Don't swim with them on." he said without the slightest bit of malice.

Her eyes trailed from him to his clothes that were lying on the grass then back to him. She sighed, finally convincing herself nothing was wrong with it. She turned back to him.

"Is the water cold?" she asked while unbottoning her top. She removed it completely and started unbottoning her trousersm taking them off as well, leaving her in her undergarments.

"No," he answered, moving back and forth and watching the water create ripples everytime he moved a direction then quickly moved towards the opposite, like he refused to have fun without her joining him.

"Are you sure?" she asked once again.

"Yes, now--" a shiver ran down his spine as soon as he looked up at her and saw her half-naked; blush tinting his cheeks a deep shade of pink.

"I don't think so, Harold." she looked at him with a raised brow, not believing him due to his shivering.

"I-I swear!" he stammered, thinking of a lie, "I just shiver easily."

She gave her a blank look, still refusing to fully believe him, so she dipped her toes down a little to test the waters herself only to find it just the right temperature. She carefully lowered herself into the water, slowly and leisurely.

Too slowly in Harry's watch, though.

While she was distracted, he placed one of his hand on the water surface then suddenly put a pressure on it towards her direction, splashing water all over her and leaving her in shock.

And then there was a splashing battle all of a sudden.

As the two were determined to get the upper hand, they both slowly advanced towards each other; their heads turned the other way in an attempt to dodge the other's attack.

In a spur of the moment, Olivia stopped her movements to stare at the lad and as soon as he stopped hearing water noises that weren't coming from him, he stopped as well.

Without even meaning to, both indivuduals had sauntered closer to one another.

Everything seemed to stop in that moment; the swaying of trees from a distance, the dripping of water from their wet bodies, their breathings -- everything. All that they were aware of was their bodies' nearness.

They were too close.

"Can I tell you a secret?" he whispered due to the proximity.

She nodded, not being able to do anything but that. Like his eyes had put her in a daze where the only thing she could think of was green, beautiful and Harry.

"You know how I liked a girl three years ago?" he paused as his eyes flickered down to her lips, before a rosy tint creeped on her cheeks and the tip of his ears, "I-I still do."

Then just like that, she was brought back to reality. Her nervousness that was shortly forgotten returned and she was reminded that she had to tell him the truth.

She took a step back and started walking towards the meadow, "Let's start talking about our pinky promises," she was putting her clothes back on, not minding if it was irritatingly sticking to her wet body, creating dark patches on the fabric.

He followed suit, taking multiple confused glances at her and her sudden cold demeanor.

She sat down on the spread-out blanket, ensuring there was still space for her human company by hugging her folded legs to her chest.

He skeptically sat down infront of her, feeling the jitters creeping in on his stomach.

"Everything that will be said today should stay between us. Okay?" she asked with fear clear on her face, "And whatever you'll learn about me, please keep in mind that I genuinely value you as a friend."

His confused state quickly diminished at that, replaced by a wide relieved smile so bright she was certain it had the ability to blind someone, "Bestfriend?"

She was torned; she didn't know if her heart would swell or would break after hearing him say that. It was a good thing it wasn't functioning for a long while now.

"Bestfriend." She croaked out.

He perked up immediately; his curls bouncing with his movements and she really couldn't help herself but put her hands on top of his head, ruffling his hair. "Beautiful boy," she whispered to herself.

"Okay so, I have this idea; For it not to be unfair, I'm gonna count to three and we both say our secrets," he looked at her with a smile, proud of his little idea, "You tell me what you really are and I tell you the girl I like. Okay? Fair enough?"

"I guess so," she quietly uttered, very nervous of what she was about to let out in the open.

He pouted and okay, she still couldn't believe the boy was real, "You guess?" he asked.

She rolled her eyes with a fond laugh, "Okay, fine. Fair."

"In three, 'kay?" he smiled sweetly,

"One."

She sighed. He would never want to see her again; she just knew it.

"Two."

This was probably the very last time, she thought.

"Three--"

Without missing a beat, she spoke loudly, thinking it would be hard for him to hear when they both speak at the same time.

"I'm a vampire."

She flinched, not hearing any other voice spoke but hers alone. Upon getting that he tricked her, she clutched her eyes closed, anticipating what was about to come. She didn't know what she was expecting but it wasn't the boy's laughs.

He threw his head back in laughter like he just did a very genius move; tricking her into saying her secret before him.

Although at the same time she looked back up at her, it was only then that he realized what she had just said. She felt her dead heart sinking even more as she watched his laughter die down and his scrunched up face fall.

Then once again, silence embrace the two of them.

"Wha--" he didn't get to finish what he was about to say; he got up as fast as lightning, put on his bag, and walked away.

Just like the first time they met; one was gone out of sight without even a goodbye.

It wasn't her this time.

He didn't get to tell her the name of the girl she liked.
