59. Secrets Spilled
CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE
SECRETS SPILLED
Kimmy was horrified at the state the boy next to her was in. She was trying to help him walk as the six made their way to the small red vehicle that the three had left to get the other three with the Russian's.
Dustin was struggling with Steve, the older boy constantly falling against the younger one as he struggled to walk and Dustin struggled to hold him up.
Erica was also clearly annoyed with Robin as the girl would not stop laughing, she too struggling to walk, but she was doing much better than Steve and Aaron.
There were huge gaps between each pair, Kimmy, Erica and Dustin finding their jobs to be incredibly difficult.
Aaron had one arm thrown over Kimmy's shoulders, Kimmy gripping the hand of that arm while she wrapped her other arm around his lower back as she did her best to stabilise him. However this was proven to be difficult seeing as the blond was clearly high out of his mind and was struggling to stand straight.
"Aaron?" Kimmy whispered, frowning at the hardly conscious boy as she struggled to guide him to where Dustin was leading the group. "What happened to you?"
Aaron hummed in response, it taking the boy a moment to register what she had actually said.
"Nothing that I can't handle." Aaron murmured, slurring his words as he was practically limp against the girl while his eyes kept fluttering shut. "Morons, they... they fucked up the drugs."
Kimmy's brows knitted together in response, more worried for the boy than she'd ever been for anyone in her life.
"Do you know what they drugged you with?" Kimmy asked carefully, her voice as gentle as she could manage.
"Can't remember..." The boy slurred, trailing off while he leaned his head against her as he struggled to keep it up.
Kimmy allowed him to lean his head against her, knowing he was so badly drugged that he could hardly function.
"I think we're gonna have to take you and Steve to the hospital." Kimmy told him, looking at the state he was in.
He had a large purple bruise on his cheekbone as well as on his jaw, his nose was covered in a crazy amount of dried blood. There were also splatters of dried blood all over his face, although it was mostly around his chin and mouth, his was lip burst quite badly and was coated in dried blood.
Kimmy frowned even more, literally feeling sick at the sight of him like that. All she knew was that she quite literally didn't want to ever see him look like that again. She didn't even like the thought of him with a bloody nose, never mind how badly he was hurt in that moment.
"I don't- I don't want to go to the hospital." Aaron told her quietly, his eyes closed as he muttered his words while he struggled to get them out due to how disoriented he was seeing how heavily he had been drugged. "I j-just want to see my mom."
Kimmy bit the inside of her cheek harshly at his words, frowning sadly at him. Knowing that his mom wasn't home, she was states away. He was quite literally the most hurt he had ever been in his life and was also drugged out of his mind, yet the only thing he had asked the girl was if he could see his mom.
Kimmy sighed, trying to think of what to say to comfort him. "I know you want to see your mom, but-"
"B-but she's not home. I know." Aaron slurred, nodding slowly as he spoke. There was a moment of silence before he began to laugh. "Guess what?"
"What?" The girl asked him quietly, unable to prepare herself for what he would say, knowing that it could be anything that blurted from his mouth.
"I haven't seen either of them in like... six months." The blond laughed, clearly referring to his mom and his dad. "They don't even like m-me, but... I, um, I still miss 'em. They lit-literally h-hate me but I still miss them when they, um... when they leave. Isn't that weird?"
Kimmy did not find this as funny as Aaron did, she didn't find it funny at all. She knew that his mom and dad were rarely home, but she could hardly believe that they felt that way towards him. Or, even if they didn't feel that way towards him, Kimmy wondered what the two had done to even make the boy think that.
Aaron didn't like talking about his parents, only brining it up whenever he mentioned that they weren't home.
Kimmy now knew why he didn't ever talk about his parents. The same reason Kimmy didn't talk about hers. The girl began to realise that maybe Aaron's home life wasn't too different to hers.
Sure, Aaron wasn't physically abused like she was, but it was clear to Kimmy that he may have been abused in other ways. Mental abuse? Neglect perhaps. Whatever it was, he must be faced with quite some ugliness while at the hands of his parents for him to genuinely believe that they hated him.
"It's not weird." Kimmy told him, not feeling comfortable commenting on his parents when she didn't even know them or what Aaron had dealt with. "And... I'm sure they don't hate you and Steve-"
"No, d-don't worry, it's okay, they don't hate Steve." Aaron tried to reassure her, genuinely not wanting the girl to worry about it. "Just me. But, um... it's f-fine, I can, uh, I can handle it. No- no big deal."
Kimmy couldn't help the feeling of sadness rush through her, it practically broke her heart that he didn't feel welcome in his own home. She could only be glad that he had his older brother.
"Can we stop for a sec-second." Aaron asked quietly, Kimmy glancing up at him only to find him with his face scrunched up in pain.
Kimmy stopped despite knowing that they didn't have time to waste. Looking up to him with a look of sympathy as she removed her arm from around his waist as well as letting go of the grip she held on his hand. He then placed his hand to his face before removing it abruptly. The boy began coughing hysterically, turning away from the girl as he crouched down.
Kimmy's eyes widened drastically as he began gagging, the brunette hesitantly crouching next to him to try comfort him despite knowing he wouldn't remember any of it in five minutes.
"Dustin!" Kimmy yelled for the boy as she watched her friend try force Steve and Robin into the back part of the red vehicle, Erica sat patiently in the front seat. "Dustin, I need you to help me."
The boy was quick to shut the back double doors of where Steve and Robin were so they couldn't run off before he came running over to the pair.
Aaron began coughing up mouthfuls of blood like he had done earlier, Kimmy glancing to Dustin with a concerned look, the curly haired boy returning it.
"It's okay, buddy." Dustin told his friend as he patted his back, crouching down next to him, the opposite side from where Kimmy was crouched next to him. "Just... just get it all up."
Kimmy placed a hand on his shoulder, trying to down play her worry for the boy as she literally watched him cough up mouthfuls of blood.
"We need to get him to a hospital." Kimmy murmured to Dustin, completely panicked for his well-being. Dustin looked just as worried as she did.
Dustin nodded in response, continuing to pat the blonds back, unsure of what else to do.
Aaron suddenly stopped coughing, practically collapsing into Kimmy and Dustin's arms as he placed his hands over his face, couching into his elbow one last time before shaking his head.
"I want to-to go home." Aaron mumbled into his hands.
"Yeah, Aaron, it's okay. Dustin and I are gonna take you home, okay? I promise." Kimmy told him in the most calm voice she could muster. "But you've got to walk with us to the... to the car, I guess. Can you stand?"
The blond stumbled slightly as Kimmy and Dustin helped him up, his brows furrowing as he looked to his feet.
"What the hell is that?" Aaron slurred, motioning towards the blood on the floor that he had coughed up moments before. Kimmy slightly concerned that he couldn't even remember what had happened two minutes ago.
"It's nothing." Kimmy shook her head, wrapping her arm back around his waist and grabbing his left hand and pulling it behind her head and over her shoulders to stabilise the boy, Dustin doing the same with his right arm as the pair tried to get him to walk. "Come on, you're okay. Just walk with us, okay?"
The two did end up managing to get the blond into the back of the red vehicle along side Robin and Steve. Kimmy and Dustin rushing to the front where Erica was waiting for them.
"Is he okay?" Erica asked Kimmy in a hushed voice once she and Dustin and got into the vehicle.
"He's not great." Kimmy answered honestly. "Whatever it was that they were drugged with has messed him up, and he really got some hard hits."
Erica looked behind her, an apologetic look crossing her features at Kimmy's words.
Dustin sighed as he started the car, shaking his head as he spoke. "Steve's not doing great either."
It wasn't long before the sound of loud laughter could be heard from the three in the back, followed by yelling between them all, and then more laughter.
"What do you guys think they were drugged with?" Dustin asked, clearly stressed as he spoke.
"I don't know," Kimmy mumbled in thought, extremely concerned with the well-being of the three teenagers sat in the back. "Aaron said he couldn't remember."
"I don't know either." Erica shrugged, looking to the two older kids she was sat next to with an extremely concerned expression. "I couldn't get a word out of her, she wouldn't stop laughing."
Dustin sighed, taking a corner so harshly that it had Erica falling into Kimmy's side.
"Jesus, slow down!" Kimmy heard Steve yell from the back, slurring his words as he did so. "Aaron's hurt his back, have some respect!"
Kimmy rolled her eyes at Steve's dramatics, Erica also scoffing from next to her.
"Yeah, what is this, like, the Indy-five hundred?" Robin slurred with a scoff, seemingly agreeing with what Steve had said.
"It's the Indy-three hundred." Steve corrected in an obvious tone.
"No, dingus, it's five hundred!" Robin yelled in retaliation.
"Hey, don't talk to my brother like that!" Aaron yelled before bursting into laughter, clearly unable to take himself serious.
"It's three hundred!" Steve yelled, completely ignoring Aaron.
"Let's say a million." Robin suggested quietly. Silence followed until it was broken seconds later by the three hysterically laughing loudly.
"What's wrong with them?" Erica asked Kimmy, sounding startled.
"I don't know." Kimmy replied with a shrug, pursing her lips as she tried to push down any sort of fear she had over the matter. "They were definitely drugged but... since we don't know what it was they were given, we can't really say how long they'll be like that. Or how to make it better-"
"Dustin watch out!" Erica yelled, however she was too late, the curly haired boy crashed the vehicle he was driving into a pile of metal containers.
Kimmy could hear the three in the back groan collectively in pain, Dustin looking to the two girls he was sat next to with a sheepish expression before looking over his shoulder and yelling to the three sat in the back.
"You guys alright back there?" He yelled, hoping the group wouldn't have got hurt too badly.
No one replied, all three of them still groaning in pain when Dustin asked the question. The boy turned back to face Kimmy and Erica who were looking to him with unamused expressions.
"They're fine." Dustin shrugged, clearing his throat as he went to leave his seat.
Luckily they had crashed right outside the elevator that they had been trying to get to the entire time. Kimmy never thinking she would ever be so happy to see the horror show of an elevator as she was in that moment.
Kimmy and Erica then did the same, rushing out as they all ran around to the back and opened the double doors.
"Come on." Dustin told the three in the back, Kimmy wincing as she looked at the three who were a jumbled mess in the back. "Come on, we gotta go, now."
None of them moved, Dustin signed as he clapped his hands loudly and began yelling at them. "Come on! Get out!"
Reluctantly, the three did do. Crawling out of the back, however not without mumbling protests as they did so.
Dustin then walked away from the three who were stumbling around, Kimmy and Erica following him to the doors of the elevator as he used the keycard he had stolen before the three were split up.
Much to Kimmy's relief, the keycard worked, the door lifting up slowly.
Kimmy turned to Dustin with a wide grin, nudging her friend proudly on his shoulder as she nodded at him. "Good work, Henderson." She teased, Dustin grinning in response.
...
Kimmy was a nervous wreck in the elevator, the three teenagers who had been drugged were causing mayhem. And Kimmy was sure that this much stress was not good for her blood pressure.
Steve was on some sort of cart used to transport products from and out of the elevator that had wheels on the bottom. Robin swaying the cart around as he pretended to surf, Aaron stood in front of the cart as he waited for his assigned time to jump on.
Kimmy had told the blond boy a million times not to do so, seeing as he was already hurt badly, she didn't want him to make his injuries worse.
Obviously, the boy didn't listen. Well, Kimmy wasn't sure if he hadn't listen to her or if he simply hadn't registered her words.
"Go!" Steve yelled at his brother, Aaron nodding as he ran up and jumped on roughly, his balance wobbling slightly before he caught himself, grabbing onto the same long handle Robin and Steve held onto.
The three burst into laughter, having the times of their life's. However Kimmy, Erica and Dustin looked to the three with horrified expressions.
"I'm a natural!" Steve yelled, laughing as he pretended to surf. "Check it out!"
The second Steve removed his hands from the handle, Robin pulled the entire thing back roughly, Steve going flying forward and crashing to the floor.
"Wipeout!" Robin yelled at the boy, Aaron laughing hysterically at the entire thing.
"Okay," Dustin sighed, looking to the two girls next to him with a tired look. "We need to split them up and find out what went on, okay? We just need to know even the slightest of what happened to make them act like this, okay?"
Kimmy and Erica nodded in response. Dustin rushing over to talk to Steve who was now sat laughing to himself on the floor.
Kimmy and Erica rushed over to Aaron and Robin, Kimmy taking Aaron's hand firmly as she got him off of the moving cart he was stood on safely, leaving Erica to interrogate Robin.
Kimmy practically dragged Aaron onto the floor, taking him away from Robin so she could talk to him herself.
"Aaron, I need you to listen to me, okay?" Kimmy spoke firmly, trying to get the blond to stop laughing. "I need you to tell me what happened."
"I need you to tell me what happened?" Aaron mocked, his laughter dying down slightly as he spoke.
Kimmy pressed her hand to his forehead, sighing as she realised he most definitely had a fever. She then looked closely at his face, sighing when she realised that the whites of his eyes were now red.
"Aaron, listen to me. You're burning up - you have a fever." Kimmy stressed as the boy dropped his head, Kimmy sighing as she lifted his head, cupping his face in her free hand as she forced the boy to look her in the eye, ignoring the dried blood that pushed into her palm as she did so. "I need to know what they did to you in that room."
"Beat the shit out of me, that's what they did." Aaron laughed loudly, struggling to keep his eyes open.
"Seriously, Aaron," Kimmy spoke firmly again, ignoring the pang to her heart at his words. "Listen to me. Just... just try and remember what they gave you, okay?"
"What who gave me?" Aaron asked puzzled, Kimmy squeezed her eyes closed in frustration.
"Hey, you guys want to make a pit stop at the food court?" Steve asked loudly, catching both Aaron and Robin's attention.
"I would kill for a hot dog on a stick." Robin signed desperately, only making Kimmy, Erica and Dustin's job ten times harder.
"Yes! Can I get a snow cone?" Aaron asked in an excited voice, turning his head to Steve as he asked, Kimmy dropping her hands from his face.
"Ooh!" Steve gasped excitedly in response, nodding to the two before Dustin interrupted.
"Alright, okay, food." The boy sighed tiredly, trying to please the three so they would listen to what he was trying to say. "You guys can have as much food as you want, but only if you tell me where your car is parked, Steve."
"Uh-oh." Steve mumbled in response, looking to Dustin with a blank expression as the curly haired boy began to panic.
"Uh-oh?" Dustin repeated, clearly stressed. "What is 'uh-oh'?"
"The cars off the board." Steve shrugged, causing Kimmy to sigh in defeat.
"What?" Dustin asked firmly, clearly worried about what the boy meant.
"They took the keys." Steve said simply, Robin laughing as he emptied his pockets dramatically. "Like, forever ago. That's a bummer, right?"
Steve began laughing hysterically, causing Aaron to laugh as well, even though Kimmy knew Aaron had no idea what he was laughing at.
Kimmy, Dustin and Erica looking to each other with horrified expressions, not knowing what the hell they were supposed to do.
Eventually the elevator came to a stop, and Kimmy had never been so grateful. She helped Aaron stand before dropping his hand so she could walk through the two large doors that Dustin had opened.
Kimmy, Erica and Dustin leading the way as the other three were stumbling around behind them.
Kimmy had zoned out whatever it was they were laughing about now, completely sick of their antics.
However a look of horror crossed her features as two guards began making their way towards the group of six, reaching for their guns as they picked up their pace.
"Shit!" Dustin exclaimed, turning on his heel and running up to Steve, grabbing onto his hand as he dragged him into the side door on the building that lead to the mall.
Kimmy grabbing Aaron and Erica grabbing Robin as they dragged them behind them as they ran into the large building.
"Hey," Aaron laughed in a whisper to the girl who had a firm grip on his hand. "Why are you so... stressed?"
Kimmy rolled her eyes slightly as she wished he would just be quiet until they all got to safety. However she could see Steve and Robin talking loudly to Dustin and Erica as well.
"Why do you think? You are my... my friend and I'm worried about you." Kimmy answered in as calm of a voice she could muster.
"We're friends?" Aaron mumbled, slurring his words as he waited for her to respond, almost falling onto her as he stumbled over his own two feet.
"Yes. Of course we're friends." Kimmy nodded tiredly, knowing the boy had no idea what he was talking about.
"Want to know a secret?" Aaron laughed loudly, practically leaning onto the girl for support so he wouldn't fall.
"What?" Kimmy sighed, trying to navigate the boy through the back corridor of the mall.
The boy continued to laugh, leaning closer to the girl so he could whisper the following words in her ear. "Steve doesn't think we'll be friends much longer."
Kimmy stilled, her breath catching in her throat as she tried not to be affected by his words. However she failed, her mind a blur as she felt her cheeks grow slightly hot.
"Why, um, why doesn't he think we'll be friends much longer?" Kimmy asked nervously, looking straight ahead as she tried to compose herself.
"Because I don't want to be your friend anymore." Aaron said simply, shrugging as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Kimmy felt her breathing pick up. His words could have only meant two things. He either didn't want to be her friend anymore because he didn't like her and genuinely didn't want to be around her. Or, he didn't want to be friends with her because he liked her in another way.
"Why don't you want to be my friend anymore?" Kimmy asked nervously, not really sure what to do with either answer that would be thrown at her.
Aaron mumbled into her shoulder, the brunette unsure what he had said, his voice completely muffled.
"Aaron?" Kimmy's voice was shaky, but she doubted that he noticed, the blond lifted his head from her shoulder but he was still leaning against her so she could help him walk. "Why don't you want us to be friends?"
"I do want us to be friends." Aaron slurred after a moment of silence, finally having realised what she had asked him.
Kimmy furrowed her brows together, now confused as he was completely contradicting himself.
"I do want... I do want us to be friends." Aaron repeated tiredly, his voice still a jumble as he continued to slur his words . "I just want us to be, um... what's it called? What's it... what's it called again?"
Kimmy waited patiently for the boy to respond, not wanting to say anything in case it threw him off his train of thought.
"I- I can't rem-remember." The boy slurred, Kimmy fearing the boy was about to pass out as he slumped onto her, the blond clearly a lot less energetic than Robin and Steve. "I don't know what it's called. But um... whatever it's called when people date. I can't remember."
Kimmy's eyes widened but she tried to keep herself calm at his words, hoping that he had meant them, but also keeping in mind that he was high out of his mind.
"What want us to date?" Kimmy asked in a whisper, biting the inside of her cheek nervously as she looked at him, hoping for the life of her that he wasn't lying.
"Yeah," Aaron murmured, stumbling into her once more as he tried and failed to walk in a straight line. "Like, the um... oh, what's it called? Uh... the- the girlfriend stuff."
Kimmy's face was practically on fire as she listened to him, taking a deep breath as she tried to calm herself down. "You want me to be your- your girlfriend?"
Aaron didn't answer for a moment, and she feared she had read the situation wrong, despite that being nearly impossible. However she knew that the boy had no idea what words he was spilling past his lips.
"Yeah." Aaron slurred, clearly not realising what secrets he was spilling to the girl. "Why wouldn't I want you to-to be my um... my girlfriend?"
Kimmy didn't know what to say, her heart stopped at his words, before it began beating frantically. Her mind a complete blur as she tried to focus her eyes ahead of her without stressing herself out. The girl was overwhelmed with what she could only name as surprise. A happy surprise, yes, but surprise all the same. She hadn't expected the boy to just blurt that out.
The girl pursed her lips, trying to calm down the pink blush that had risen to her face as she walked. Aaron was already mumbling about something else entirely, but Kimmy wasn't paying attention to him anymore.
All she could think about was what the boy had told her about how he felt about her. Secretly hoping he'd remember them once the drugs had worn off.
