Chapter-14

-Beta Or Not

Anna's POV

I heard things breaking and crashing from Bane's office. I quickly stood up frm the bed and ran to his office. My feet made a padding sound against the wood as I reached him. His office door is half open. I pushed the door fully and found him throwing the chair, which hit the wall and fell down breaking into pieces. He has been this angry since the attack from morning.

I gasped at his anger. The only things that didn't break are his chair and table. There are papers all over the floor and broken pieces of wood and glasses. He let out a frustrated groan and stood straight suddenly sensing me there. He looked up at me and took two long fast strides towards me before encasing me in his arms tightly.

I was shocked, but however hugged him back, knowing that he needs me right now to calm himself and his wolf. My wolf needs him too. She is worried about him. He is breathing fast showing the amount of rage he is feeling.

"Jump", he said in his low voice, which sounded husky. I jumped lightly and wrapped my both legs around his waist and hugged him more closely while putting my head on his chest. I inhaled his minty scent and felt him move. He walked to his chair and sat on it with me still in his arms. I tried to pull away to look at him, but he held me tightly to his chest.

He ducked his head to inhale my scent from my hair which calmed him wolf. We just sat there like that for a few minutes. I rubbed his back to calm him.

"Mate. Need to keep her safe", I heard him whispering. I can't help but feel his pain and hurt. I pulled away to look at him and held his face with both of my hands. I looked into his dark green eyes showing that his wolf is there, along with him. I wet my lips before speaking to him.

"Bane. Look into my eyes, I am right here, infront of you. Safe and sound in your arms. Nothing will happen to me when you are there", I tried to assure him and make his fear go away. He just stared back at me with a serious face.

"Anna", he said my name and my body tingled hearing him say that.

I nodded my head for him to continue.

"I won't let anything happen to you", he said like he is promising. I smiled at him knowingly. But I can still see that.... fear in his eyes. What is he scared of? Why?

"I know", I whispered while putting my hands around his neck.

"You will not leave me right?", he asked with pain in his voice. My mouth dropped in shock. Why would he ask that? Why would I leave him?

"Of course no!", I said sitting straight in his lap. I would never ever do that! He is my mate and I lov- I mean I can't live without him.

"Just wanted to hear it", he said giving me the same emotional look, but I can sense the vulnerability in his voice.

"You are my mate. I know that I was not a big fan of you till few days back. But, I don't want to leave you, not now. Not when I am trying to know you", I explained him desparately, wanting him to hear the truth in my words.

"Everyone that is close to me.... ends up leaving me. I don't want to loose you", he said holding my face and looking into my eyes. For once, all his emotions are clear in his light green eyes, showing that he is in control, not his wolf.

"You will not loose me", I told him what's in my heart. My his eyes still show pain which is only for brief moment. His jaw clenched for a minute. I sighed softly before drawing circles ont he back of his neck where his hair stops. He closed his eyes, clearly enjoying it. I just sat there, staring at him beautiful face. How can someone call him beast?

"We like it", he murmured and I smiled looking at him as he relaxed for a minute. I understood that both his wolf and him relaxed.

"Then it's good", I commented slowly. We were surrounded by complete silence. Since it's mid night, the only sound that we can hear are the bugs. I stared at his sharp nose, his closed eyes and pulled one of my hand from his neck to trace his lips and jaw with my finger tip. He opened his eyes to look at me. I still put my finger tip on his lips. He blinked for a minute.

"Stop doing that if you don't want to complete mating", he warned in his low sexy voice. I quickly pulled my hand back and blushed.

"How can you say such type of words without any emotion in your voice and also without any expression on your face?", I aswked him the question that always nagged me.

"You want me to do that?", he questioned. I shook my head.

"No. It's not that", I answered still looking at him.

"Good. Because I can't act like that. But like I said before, if you want me to, I will try", he said pulling me closer than I already was.

"You don't need to. I think the way you say it itself is a turn on", I said smiling and then I realized what I said.

I just can't keep my mouth shut! Can I?!

Well, it's no doubt that you are stupid, my wolf commented. I pushed her back away.

"Really? That's better", he said with an almost amusing face. I just stared at him, wanting to see how will he look if he smiled.

"I want to see how it will be when you smile", I told him my heart'd desire. His expression changed into serious one.

"I want to see how it will be too", he said and my heart tugged.

Will I ever be able to make him feel happy? Will I ever be able to make all his pain go away?

"But since you are here now, I am sure one day I will. I don't know when, but I know I will", he assured and his words brought happy tears to my eyes.

"Bane", I whispered his name not knowing what to say.

"You don't have any idea, how much important you are to me", he said looking into my eyes. My heart fluttered at his words and at the amount of emotion he had in his eyes. I hugged him while putting my face into his neck and kissed him there.

"I am lucky that you are my mate", I whispered turthfully. He pulled away a little and kissed my fore head.

"I feel the same way about you", he told me back and I closed my eyes.

Again there was a few minutes of silence between us. We heard to each other's heart beats. Then a thouht passed through my head and I pulled away to look at him. He gave me a small questioned look.

"I wanted to talk with you about something, since the morning we came back from shopping". His face turned serious.

"What is it sweet?", he asked holding me.

"I know, I probably already told you this, but you didn't agree with me about this. I just wanted to tell you about it again".

"What is it?".

"Today morning when the attack happened.... I.... I saw those dark blue eyes that I saw that day again", I told him and waited for his reaction.

"What?", he asked sitting straight, giving me total attention.

"Yes. I also think....", I trailed off not knwoing what to say. I am scared he might get angry. But he wouldn't hurt me.

"What?", he asked desparately. I felt nervous before answering. I hope this doesn't make him angry.

"I also think that.... it is your Beta", I spit out. He looked at me for a second.

"No. He is not", he rejected immediately.

"But-", I tried to say, but he cut me off.

"No Anna. He is not. Trust me. I can easily know when he is anywhere near me", he tried to explain. I shook my head. How can I make him understand?!

"But it is him", I argued. He just sat silently looking at me for a minute.

"Anna, you need to know something", he said with total seriousness in his face and voice. What can it be?

I urged him to continue.

"I put my Beta incharge to look over you all the time since we went to fight in the forest, when the first attack happened", he said and I looked at him confused.

"What?", I asked with a frown.

"Yes. I sensed that something wrong then. I was damn sure and I was right. That's why, I put him incharge to see your every action when you are out of this house. He was there with us when we went to shopping. He followed us all the time. I told him to keep eye on everything and on every single minute detail. In fact he saw the dark blue eyes too", he explained.

I just stared at him in shock. But they both have same eyes?

"The dark blue eyes you are talking about have only blue color. If you clearly see, my Beta, Jake has a hint of green in them", he pointed out, like he heard my thoughts. Then I recalled the eyes and he is right, they are just blue.

"You are right", I said thinking about them while looking into air.

"Like always", he said pulling me back to reality.

"I am sorry", I apologized immediately. I feel shame that I blamed an innocent.

"It's okay", he said and kissed my cheek.

I sighed thinking about all the stuff. How stupid was I? I just want to hit my fore head now. Instead settled down with just shaking my head at myself.

"Jake is coming", he said and I nodded my head trying to get up from the position we are. It doesn't look nice if we sit like this when he will come.

But he pulled me back, making me fall back into his lap sideways. I gasped and was about to open my mouth to say something, but just then we heard a knock on the door. We both turned out heads to look at the door already knowing who it is. There stood Jake.

"Come in", Bane said and he walked in. He looked at me and then at him.

"Alpha. Luna", he greeted us both while bowing a little. I smiled at him in reply, feeling ashamed of blaming him.

"What is it?", Bane asked with no emotion in his voice, but with a serious face. His hands are around me, holding me to him.

"Alpha, I ran over the whole north side of the border like you said and checked. Everything is under control. I found.... no one", he said the last part with a small pause and I everted my gaze, both to him and Bane. Bane looked like he is in deep thought and Jake looked the same.

"Good. Anything else?", Bane asked.

"Yes Alpha. Today morning, the attack didn't happen on you like we are all thinking", he said and I frowned but feeling happy that it is not on him, but on the other side, my curiosity increased wanting to know on who it is.

"Then on whom did they plan on the attack?", Bane voiced out my thoughts. I looked back at Jake for his answer. He looked at me for a second and then back at Bane.

"It's on the Luna", he said and I gasped. That's all it took Bane to loose control.

I am really really sorry for the late update. But, I was busy completing my other book. Also I am sure you noticed that I changed the book name to BANE. I am planning to complete this book soon.
