Part 9
Part 9
I tried to look here and there, anywhere to avoid the frosty eye contact with Dash. But no matter how much I tried to avoid the arctic glare, I could still feel it wrapping around me like a cold blanket.
"Are you all right, Bri? That Dash guy is looking at you strangely," Damian said, confusion lacing his words.
"Ignore him. If you ignore him he will go away." I had no idea what the hell I was saying, I just needed to ignore Dash until some other person stole his attention. I knew he was giving me the death stare, I could feel it choking me.
"Bri, I don't think that's how it works. Do you want me to put him in his place? Because if he is bothering you, I can rearrange his face a little to get the message across," Damian offered, as if I didn't have enough problems already.
"No, don't do that." I was more worried about Damian than about Dash. My tormentor was evil and knew how to torture people mentally, I wasn't sure about physically, but if he was the one who killed Janice, then Dash knew how to torture his victims physically as well. That thought did not sit well with me at all.
"Are you sure, because he still glaring at you." Why couldn't he stop looking at Dash? Everybody should ignore Dash, but no one in their right minds would ignore such a hot guy.
"Yes, I'm perfectly sure. I—I played a prank on him and he is not happy about it, that's why he is glaring at me." My eyes skittered to the left on their own accord and I got a glimpse of my so-called boyfriend, and boy did he look like the Devil had arrived.
Understanding dawned on Damian's face, making him look even more adorable. Why did he have to be so cute? "Oh, I see. Well, if you ask me you did the right thing. This guy is an ass and he should be put in his place. I heard someone say that he is someone very important; I don't believe it, of course." Damian scoffed, rolling his eyes.
"You are sitting on my chair." Hearing Dash's voice halted the words on my lips. I dared another glance to see him eyeing Damian as if he was a bug which needed to be exterminated as soon as possible.
"Uh, I've been sitting here for the past fifteen minutes, man," Damian replied.
"Do you have a problem comprehending my words or are you just plain stupid? I said, you are sitting on my chair. Get up and go sit somewhere else." Dash's voice rose an octave, causing everybody in the classroom to stop what they were doing and look at us. Shitballs!
Damian stood up and until he was facing Dash. I prayed for Damian's safety because Dash was going to destroy him, he was that angry. And Damian was slightly shorter than Dash. These boys needed to grow up fast!
"You look like a human so try and act like one. Go sit somewhere else. I sat here first," Damian stated.
Both the boys stared at each other, trying to make other one surrender, while I just sat there and watched them like an idiot. How could they stare at each other like that. If Dash stared at me like that, I would literally wish for the ground to open up and swallow me whole—anything to get me away from that cold, deadly glare.
"You are sitting with my girlfriend and that is unacceptable. Only I can sit with my girlfriend, so I am telling you once again to get the fuck out of here before I remove you myself," Dash threatened.
"Brielle is not your girlfriend, she told me herself how you are an asshole. So stop being a pathetic jerk and forcing yourself on other girls. Try being a man and getting girls the right way," Damian spat.
The next few seconds were surreal. One second, Damian was standing there glaring at Dash, and the next, he had fallen down on the chair with his nose gushing like a crimson fountain. While Dash had his fist in the air with droplets of blood glittering on his knuckles—Damian's blood.
"Oh my God, Damian!" I slapped a hand over my mouth to prevent myself from screaming. Damian lay on the chair with his hand covering his mouth and nose, rivulets of blood flowing down his hand.
"Now get out of here before I break something other than your nose," Dash hissed, shooting daggers at my friend.
With a groan, Damian stood up and wobbled out of the class, no one stepping forward to help him. I was about to stand up and help him but one look at Dash had me swallowing hard and sitting back down. I was dead. God had finally decided to punish me by death.
Once he was gone, Dash switched his glare to the rest of the people in the class. "What are you all staring at? Don't you have something to do?"
All at once, everybody started doing one thing or the other, trying to ignore Dash and I. It was pretty obvious how they all wanted to know what was my relationship with Dash, and I knew that by tomorrow I would be the center of gossip. God, why did Dash have to exist? Life was so much easier without him.
Once the attention was no longer focused on us, Dash made his way over to me and sat down on the chair which Damian just vacated. I tried to act normal but couldn't help shrinking away from him. Dash bristled besides me, fury emanating from him in waves.
Should I say something? Was I even supposed to say anything to him? I mean, he was the one at fault. He treated me like I was not important enough to listen to him talking with Lauren, so he had no right to do what he just did. Dash had no right to be angry.
I glanced at him to see him breathing heavily. He had his head buried in his hands, refusing to look at me. In a way, I was glad Dash was not looking at me, because I did not know what emotion I would find swimming in the endless, oceanic depths of his eyes.
A couple of seconds later, Mrs. Lemons entered the classroom, acting like she had absolutely no idea about what happened here just a few seconds ago. She smiled at the students, oblivious to the tension crackling in the air.
"All right class, let's begin," Mrs. Lemons paused, her eyes flitting over to Dash. "Mr. Melwin, are you feeling all right?"
Dash looked up at her, his hands dropping, the anger from earlier gone from his eyes. "Yes, Mrs. Lemons, I am all right." He threw her a smile which Mrs. Lemons didn't buy.
"Are you sure?" She prodded.
"Yes, absolutely." Wow, Dash was not going to break. I wonder what Damian would've said and done if he was in Dash's place.
"All right, class, let's begin; we have a lot to cover up today." Mrs. Lemons turned and begun writing on the board, focusing on the lesson for today.

Once class ended, I placed my books in my bag and stood up to leave, trying my best to ignore Dash's scent and presence. But just as I stood up, Dash grabbed my arm and forced me to sit down. Oh God, first he hurt Damian and now he was going to kill me for calling him a jerk in front of Damian. I could not believe I would die without solving Janice's murder.
I watched everyone walk by me, trying to look at them in a way that they wouldn't make eye contact with me. I didn't know what I would say if somebody asked me about Dash. So it was better to avoid eye contact.
Mrs. Lemons smiled at me before picking up her laptop and striding out of the classroom, leaving me alone with Dash. Oh no, the people of Burswick didn't care about me; they all left me here to die. And where the hell was Tracey? She wasn't in class, what was she up to?
"Why do you defy me? Why can't you just listen to me for once?" Dash's voice had me jumping in surprise.
"What are you talking about? Why do I have to listen to you?" I was not going to apologize for something I didn't even do. This was all his fault and he should be apologizing to me.
"You are my girlfriend. You are supposed to listen to me because I care about you," Dash said.
That was a first; I didn't know Dash cared about me. "You care about me? Really?"
"Oh, you're right, I don't really care about you, but I thought you will believe me." He rolled his eyes, his words popping my bubble of fantasy.
"See, this is why I don't listen to you, you suck," I said it like it was the most obvious thing.
"When I told you to stay put, why didn't you listen? Why did you leave the room I left you in?" He asked, ignoring my statement.
"Why would I listen to you? And it looked like you were cozying up to Lauren, so I left. What is she to you, by the way? If you knew Lauren then why didn't you tell us?" I enquired, turning the tables.
"Lauren is someone I know; and I only got to know her after Ben told me that she was Janice's best friend. Now, what can I say, girls want me around to comfort them; which is why you are lucky to have me as a boyfriend—I can comfort you whenever you want," he answered.
"No thanks, I'd rather puke a turtle," I retorted. Dash was lying. I didn't know how I knew, I just knew that whatever he just told me about Lauren was not the truth. He knew Lauren at a deeper, more personal level, and I had to find out what was his relationship with her.
"Oh please, your sassy words do not fool me. I know you want me to comfort you and kiss you until you can't take it anymore." He threw me a cocky grin, one I wanted to slap off his face, but it was so sexy! Why couldn't he be ugly? I got pimples all the time, why couldn't Dash get a pimple for once.
"How do you fit this ego of yours through the door? How do you do it? Your ego is so big, it should be a separate continent...on Jupiter!" I snapped.
Dash laughed before giving me a hard tug, causing me to fall on his lap. "My cute, little shortcake, your words make me laugh. You are an entertaining girlfriend."
"Oh my God, I am not your girlfriend." Why couldn't he understand that I was a free person and had the right to make my own decisions.
"You are, the whole school knows it now. And you will be punished for sitting with that cockroach." His eyes hardened to jewels.
"His name is Damian and he is my friend. If you hadn't punched him, we would be in the library by now, discussing Janice's murder. I was planning to tell him about the button we found," I replied.
Dash tightened his arm around me. "Stay away from him. That cockroach likes you and I will not let him take you. If I see you with him one more time, then he is dead. I mean it, Bri."
"Shut up. I am my own person. I don't belong to anyone, my parents taught me that. So you cannot tell me who to hang out with and who to avoid, because I do not abandon my friends, and Damian is my friend," I stated.
"He won't be your friend much longer," Dash responded, his cocky smile back on his face.
"What do you mean? I told you before I am not going to leave him just because you have a problem with him. Damian is upset about Janice's death and I will be there for him," I stated. As soon as I got out of here, I would go and see how Damian was doing. Dash punched him really hard.
"Oh, my chocolate chip, the truth will tell you who is your friend and foe. And lucky for you, I know the truth," he said.
"What truth? Tell me now. Is it related to Janice's murder? Who told you this? Was it Lauren? There is something suspicious about that girl. Who is she—" Dash placed a hand over my mouth to shut me up.
"Man, you ask a lot of questions. Do you even breathe?" I tried to respond but it came out as a series of incomprehensible noise. Thankfully Dash removed his hand from my mouth.
"Tell me! What are you waiting for? Tell me what is the new information that you got," I ordered.
"Not like that. You'll have to give me something first," he replied.
I rolled my eyes. "What do you want?"
"A kiss." Fuck my life. Why couldn't he ask for anything else?
"Yeah, no, ask me for something else." I told him.
"Alright. Have sex with me tonight, or better yet, let's do it right here right now," Dash responded, swiftly kissing my cheek.
"You need to ask for things that I can actually give you, not the impossible!" Man, what was wrong with this guy?
"You can give me all this. So pick one. Sex or kiss? Because I won't tell you otherwise," he stated.
"This does not work with me. You already stole my first kiss and now you want my virginity as well, you are so greedy. Come on, Dash, tell me the information you got," I said, trying hard not to think about Dash having sex with me; the idea made me feel funny.
"Virginity huh? That's nice, now I want that. I'm glad I took your first kiss, now I want your first fuck, too, so tell me when will you give it to me." He pulled me closer, as if afraid I was going to leave.
"Uh never. Just tell me already!" I whined.
"Kiss me first."
By now, I was done with all this. My curiosity won and without thinking twice about my actions, I placed my hands on either side of Dash's handsome face...
And sealed my lips with his.
