Part 10

Part 10

It was supposed to be bad. I was supposed to hate what I was doing right now. I wanted to hate myself for giving in and doing what Dash wanted me to do.

But I couldn't.

The way his lips moved over mine, with such force and tenderness, I couldn't help getting lost in the kiss. His mouth on mine was supposed to make me gag, but just like our previous kiss, this one reached all the way down my throat and made its way to my heart, where it wrapped around me like a mist, slowly melting my heart towards the boy who was kissing me.

Dash didn't take long to take over the kiss. I may have initiated the kiss, but he was now in control. He pulled my hair tie and tangled his fingers through my hair, tilting my head a little to get deeper access.

I fisted Dash's shirt as he slipped his tongue in my mouth, taking me to places I had never even thought about. Well I never thought a guy would blackmail me into kissing him.

Kissing Dash was a something new. And it was something fantastic.

That was why I was so lost.

That was why I jumped and accidentally bit Dash's lip when I heard the sound of a throat clearing.

Pulling away from Dash, I stood up and turned around to see none other than Tracey and Ben standing in the classroom, staring at us like they caught us having sex.

Shitballs! This was not good.

"I can explain," I begun, my cheeks heating up, more than they already were due to the kiss.

"Uh huh, please, do explain," Tracey said, her expression telling me that she wouldn't believe me no matter what I told her. But I would still defend myself.

"It's not what it looks like," I said, ignoring Dash beside me. Even though his presence was like a red elephant in the room.

"Uh, then please tell me why you were kissing Dash?" Tracey enquired, her tone disbelieving.

"I wasn't kissing him..." I defended.

"No, you were just sharing saliva with him. How did that turn out for you?" My best friend questioned. Oh God, why did she have to show up when she wasn't required to show up? Tracey had really bad timing sometimes.

"It was pretty good. For someone who never kissed a guy before, shorty is pretty good," Dash commented.

Oh God, kill me now before I turn into a puddle. Maybe it was better if I did dissolve. I wouldn't have to face these people.

But wait a minute. Dash said I was a good kisser. He called me a good kisser.

"Oh really? How good was she? Better than your ex girlfriends? Tracey enquired, turning her blue eyes on Dash. I breathed a sigh of relief once her probing gaze was no longer trained on me.

"You know about my ex girlfriends?" Dash asked, sounding surprised. How many ex girlfriends did he have? And how come Tracey knew about them and I didn't? How long had she known about them?

Tracey rolled her eyes. "I don't need a gossip queen to tell me that you are a player. It's written all over you. The way you act, the way you talk, the way you treat people; it's all there."

It was now that I chanced a glance at Dash only to see him regarding Tracey with narrow, suspicious eyes. Oh God, Dash did not look happy. Well, I didn't know how he looked, his face showed emotion, but I couldn't decipher it.

"Well if you think I'm a player, then you must also know that I am loyal," Dash said.

Tracey scoffed. "A player cannot be loyal, that is why he is called a player. There is no such thing has a loyal player." Tracey emphasized the last two words.

"That's where you're wrong. Because I am loyal to the girl I'm dating. The moment I start to lose interest or see someone I like more, I break up with her. I don't cheat on her," he stated.

"That. Is. So. Weird," my best friend commented.

"It's weird, but it's true." Dash shrugged, as if he didn't care if Tracey believed him or not.

This was getting too much for me to handle. Dash was a player. But he claimed to be loyal to his girlfriend until he got bored or found someone better. It was weird, and something I never before experienced in my life. Which was why I needed to stop this, because it was getting too much for my brain to handle and I needed my brain to study.

"Can we discuss Dash's personality some other time. He was just about to tell me something," I butt in.

"Was it before or after you started kissing him?" Tracey asked. I shot my best friend as death glare which had her grinning but thankfully she remained silent. Why couldn't I get a normal best friend?

"Bri is right. We need to focus on something else. Like Janice's murder." Ben, who had been silent all this time spoke up. I actually forgot he was here with all that was being said between Dash and Tracey.

"Yes." I finally gave Dash my full attention. "Tell us what you found about her," I demanded.

"Oh right, it's about your precious Damien. Well, Lauren came to tell me how Janice and Damien knew each other, if you know what I mean," he said.

I frowned, not catching his drift. "What do you mean? They were friends?"

"Try girlfriend and boyfriend," Dash replied.

No way. That was not true. Damien and Janice? Unbelievable. Damien didn't tell me that Janice was his girlfriend. No, no, he was lying. He had to be.

"That's not true," Tracey said.

"Well they broke up a few days before Janice was murdered," Dash corrected.

"Why did they break up?" Ben questioned.

"Lauren said they had a fight, but Janice wasn't very forthcoming about the reason why they fought," Dash answered.

Not very forthcoming? Not even to her best friend? This was strange. I told Tracey everything and she did the same with me. And something as serious as a break up was not something you kept secret from your best friend. I saw girls talking about their boyfriends in great details, so why would Janice not tell Lauren?

"So fight means anger which equals to revenge in most cases, which means Damien has a motive for murder," Ben deduced.

"Exactly." Dash looked at me, a smug smile curving his lips. Damn his looks to Limbo. "Are you sure you still want to go see that cockroach?"

"Bri, stay away from Damien. He sounds like a bad person," Tracey said to me.

"Damien is not a bad person. I've talked to him, he seems nice. And I don't think Damien and Janice were dating," I argued. It just did not make sense to me. Damien was distraught and he talked like he didn't know Janice. But then again Lauren was Janice's best friend, so if anybody knew about Janice's relationship status it would be her.

God, I was so confused. But I couldn't accept the fact that Damien killed Janice. It just wasn't possible. He was so sweet and caring. Unlike Dash. If someone suspected Dash then I probably would've considered it.

"Oh come on, Bri, looks can be deceiving. I mean, look at Dash, does he look like someone who would know the word loyal? But no, he claims to be loyal to his girlfriends and doesn't cheat on them. So maybe, Damien is not as sweet as he looks. Maybe he is a killer," Tracey said.

"Does Lauren have any proof for suspecting Damien?" I asked Dash. I would not suspect Damien until I had some solid proof.

"What more proof do you need? He is a murderous cockroach, that's what he is. You need to accept that, shortcake," Dash answered.

"That's just heresay. That's not evidence," I argued.

"Bri has a point, Dash. We need proof if we are to suspect Damien or anyone else for that matter. We can't go around accusing people like that," Ben agreed with me. God bless him.

"And the cops will be taking our statements. We cannot lie. It will be wrong to accuse an innocent guy," Tracey added.

Dash threw his hands in the air and stood up, clearly frustrated. "You guys believe whatever you want. But I know Damien is an asshole and does nothing but steals and kill girls. So I am going to turn him in the first chance I get."

What was wrong with him? Why was he acting like this? Damien was our first suspect uptil now, but Dash was acting like Damien was the killer and he had all the evidences.

"He steals girls?" Tracey's eyes widened. "You mean kidnap them?"

Dash rolled his eyes. "No, I mean he steals things. He goes after things that do not belong to him."

"Like what?" Ben asked.

"Like my girlfriend," Dash answered.

"What girlfriend? You mean, Bri?" Ben looked confused.

"Obviously. He killed his previous girlfriend and now he is after mine," Dash seethed.

"That's not true. I'm not your girlfriend and Damien is not trying to steal me," I said before I realized my mistake. I just told Dash I was not his girlfriend. I basically did what he told me not to do.

I thought he was going to do something similar to what he did before, but he simply placed a hand on my shoulder and squeezed it firmly.

"I will deal with this one later." Oh my God. I was so dead. "But right now we need to focus," he said.

Ben nodded. "You're right. We have two suspects right now. Damien and Lauren."

"Woah, why Lauren? She is innocent," Dash said. Why was he defending her?

"How do you know she is innocent?" Tracey questioned.

"Because she was Janice's best friend and we all saw how she cried when Headmaster broke the news," Dash replied.

"She could be acting," Tracey argued.

"Yes, she could probably be acting so that no one suspects her," I added, my suspicions about Lauren increasing.

"That is not true. Lauren is a genuine girl. And she is utterly distraught due to the death of her best friend. Lauren is not a suspect," Dash argued.

"Guilty until proven innocent," Ben said with a shrug.

"That's innocent until proven guilty," Dash pointed out.

"Same difference. Now how do we figure out what to do next?" I enquired, looking from Dash to Ben to Tracey. We all fell silent as we contemplated our next course of action. I still had the button. Maybe I could sneak into Lauren's room and try to find anything that could tell me more about the killer.

Tracey and I would be back in our dorms after classes ended for the day. After completing my work, I could go and search her room. But I would have to make sure Lauren was not present. Maybe I could get someone to keep her busy, like Gemma. I would have to talk to Gemma about keeping Lauren busy.

"I volunteer to search Lauren's room." I raised my hand.

"Absolutely not! You are not to go anywhere without me and we need to keep an eye on that cockroach, Damien," Dash stated.

Tracey rolled her eyes. "You are worried about Damien stealing your girlfriend, in this case, Bri, and you want to take her to the one guy who wants to steal her from you? Are you insane?"

Dash huffed, clearly seeing her point. "All right fine, we'll split up. Ben and I will interrogate Damien while Bri and Tracey can look into Lauren, even though you won't find anything helpful."

"Alright, I'll go after completing my homework. But we need someone to keep Laurem busy while I go through her things. Tracey, do you think you can convince Gemma to keep Lauren busy?" I looked at my best friend with hopeful eyes.

Tracey thought for a minute before she nodded. "Gemma loves to shop, and I'm sure she'll love to take Lauren as her shopping buddy in the evening."

""We are not allowed to leave the school gates after 6:00 p.m." Ben pointed out.

"When it comes to shopping, Gemma does not care about rules," Tracey stated.

"So it's settled then. Tracey, you go and talk to Gemma. While I make a list of things we need to check in her room. And we are going to read the diary you stole from her room." I told her, excitement bubbling in my stomach as if I was a witch brewing a potion.

"Perfect, we'll meet in the cafeteria at dinner time and talk about what we've found. For now, I have to deal with the asshole who is after my girlfriend. Not only will I teach him a leason about hurting girls, I will teach him what it's like to mess with me." Before I could reply, Dash tilted my face up and crushed his lips to mine. The kiss was hard and fast, leaving me breathless. "Be a good girl while I'm gone," he said before striding out of the classroom with Ben.

"Oh my God! He is so hot! Can I fuck him, please? Just once," Tracey said, her eyes shining with appreciation for Dash.

"No, and no. He is annoying and he never listens to me, and he has major problems with my friends," I complained.

"Dash has a problem with me?" Tracey looked surprised.

"No, not you. Damien. I don't know what his deal is. I didn't even do anything and he was making me suffer through the semesters. By the way, I just experienced my second semester—it was Dash kissing me." I told her.

"Well duh, what do you expect? Damien is after his girlfriend. Of course, Dash is going to be possessive about you. I think it's really hot," she remarked.

"You need to read more textbooks instead of romance novels," I said, grabbing her hand and leading her out of the classroom. There were fifteen minutes until the next class begun, I could make it in time.

"But they are so boring!" Tracey whined, but allowed me to pull her away.

We barely had any clue as to who killed Janice. But I was sure about one thing; that Dash had a relationship with Lauren. I wasn't sure what it was...

But I was going to find out.
