Thor always felt confused at what was going on around him. Midgard changed constantly and he often struggled to keep up with the technology and people.

Asgard generally looked on other worlds inhabitants as inferior species, but the fact that Thor had to put in so much effort to understand let alone fit in with them proved the sentiment inaccurate.

He found it easier to spend a majority of his time in the Avengers compound or the tower while on Midgard due to familiarity and help from other residents. Every time Thor wanted to try and act like a Midgardian, he would often end up either embarrassed, confused or commonly both. Not that he didn't like Midgard; he found it a wonderful place where things differ much from Asgard in mostly good ways. They had pop tarts, google and funny tendencies to get emotionally attached to things, a occurrence that seemed to happen to Thor more and more.

He and Jane had "mutually" split up over differences in opinion. Thor wanted to live with the Avengers primarily but also go to Asgard when he pleased and wanted Jane to join him. She didn't like that idea nearly as much as he did. They were still on good terms, but they weren't exactly going out to café's together.

The Avengers were still going strong, with Stark and the Captain sharing more of a dual lead role. Thor didn't mind not being in command but often found their move to talk before fighting curious. More heroes had joined them since Ultron like Scarlet Witch, Vision and Spider-Man. They had some contracts (mutually beneficial agreements) with other heroes/groups like Doctor Strange (plus the other sorcerers at Kamar Taj), Ant-Man/Wasp, Wakanda and a strange man in red that kept popping up every now and then, talking to himself and then leaving again. All in all Midgard seemed quite protected by the Avengers and Co.

Thor didn't spend as much time on Asgard anymore. With his mother gone and Loki earning his penance back doing Odin's bidding, there wasn't much reason for him to be there. Though Thor knew he was next in line for Asgard, he no longer felt worthy of the task that it would be, knowing that something in Midgard would always drag him away from his duties. And though Odin hadn't officially announced it yet, Thor was hoping that Loki would be made the Crown prince, leaving Thor to do as he pleases as an emissary between Asgard and Midgard.

Which is why he found it so peculiar that his father wanted to talk to him. Though Odin was his father and the king, he had lost much respect for him after how he treated Loki. However lack of respect doesn't stop Thor from having to do his bidding. Thor was currently at the compound, and after getting informed (yelled at) by Stark, he moved over to the dedicated spot well away from the lawn to call the Bifrost.

"Heimdall, open the Bifrost." Thor yelled. To anyone who didn't know what was going to happen next he would have seemed like a completely drunk fool, at least until the rainbow light came down and struck him, leaving no trace of Thor behind.

Thor landed on the bridge, nodded to Heimdall before using Mjolnir to soar over to the palace. Asgard was beautiful, but an old sight for Thor. He rarely looked at the place he was raised at anymore with the awe that it deserved. However that particular activity would have to be held off for now.

Thor paced outside the throne room, knowing better than to interrupt whatever Odin was doing. Not too long after he was finally able to walk in, taking in the gold architecture he knew so well. Odin was sitting there on the throne, Loki to his right side and a few guards lined at the bottom of the stairs. Thor liked to think that Loki's face lit up when he saw him. To be honest he wasn't sure whether his brothers glee came from seeing him or that something interesting might finally happen.

What truly confused Thor was the wave of realisation that overcame Loki's face until he frowned and suddenly looked worried. This quickly changed back to a blank face, however Loki's eyes kept flashing between angry and concern.

Thor looked back to his father. He seemed as indifferent as ever, showing no hints to why he asked Thor to come. Thor knelt in front of his father out of respect, but was mostly anxious to find out more about the situation.

"Father."

"Thor. I appreciate you joining me here today. Guards leave us." At that moment Thor knew something really important was happening. Odin almost always kept guards nearby. Thor rose as the guards shuffled out. He walked up the stairs to properly talk to his father.

"Father, why have you brought me here today?" Odin shuffled uncomfortably. He glanced down before exchanging a look with Loki.

"Well Thor, you know the Norse aren't the most powerful Parthenon, and we have struggled to maintain defence at times. With you being more often on Midgard, we felt making an alliance would be appropriate." Thor didn't understand what the problem was. He already heard talk of alliances between the Parthenon's to better defend against threats. He nodded to encourage his father along. "We weren't what kind of alliance would ensure mutual protection and safety, but we decided on a particularly-" Odin paused, trying to find the right word. "personal arrangement. A particular arrangement. Marriage specifically."

Thor was surprised by this. Asgard along with most other Parthenon's stopped having arranged marriages decades ago due to the problems that could come with the union. Thor decided to enquire further to properly understand why this was the extent the sides went to.

"Which Parthenon agreed to this? This must have been one of the bigger ones for you to go this far."

"The Greeks and Romans are already aligned. They have invited us to join their alliance and this is traditionally done with a marriage." Thor nodded along with his father words. He never understood tradition much either, but who was he to fight it.

"Who is to be the lady from our side?"

Odin traded glances with Loki again, setting Thor's stomach to twist. He almost knew exactly what Odin was going to say but begged that this wasn't the case.

"There will not be a maiden from our side. We-" Loki cleared his throat, eyeing Odin. "I, believe that you are the best option."
