Chapter-2
Satyaki's POV
I am sleeping and in my dreams, it's raining and I've forgotten the umbrella and then...Lee Joon Gi comes in his Wang So attire and unfurls his cape over me protecting me from rain and in the background this song is playing:
But why is the background music not going forward? Anyways the tataratara is cool to.
Again the same background music plays but this time Wang So
..no sorry, Lee Joon Gi is nowhere near me and the background music is coming from my phone and I have fallen down my bed.
Yawning, I pick up my phone. The phone actually slips twice from my hand before I receive the call.
"Hello!" I speak. Wait! Why is my voice sounding manly? I wonder if dreaming about Kdrama men had made me a man too.
"Hello! Vishakha here, Satyaki. Anaika ma'am has approved your request for her interview. The appointment is at 4 pm sharp."
"Anaika who?" I utter then I realise. I am a rookie reporter at a newspaper publication on its decline. So those scamsters have somehow got to know about my occupation, and now they're luring me by the name of Anaika, sorry the Anaika Mallick, the Silicon Value trillionaire.
"Bah!" I mutter and extend the quilt over my head to dream about another character of Lee Joon Gi.
After fifteen minutes, again the same background music, I mean, the ringtone. It's my boss.
"Hello Sir," I try to suppress my yawn but instead end up coughing.
"You received a call from Anaika's secretary and you didn't even deem it necessary to inform me," my boss is furious.
What a strategic scamster! He's targeting everyone from our office!
I try to explain but thanks to my pathetic communication skills end up confusing the boss and myself more.
"I need you to interview Anaika at any cost," my boss ordered and disconnected the call. A SMS came- it was address of Anaika's Mumbai office.
I chuckle to myself. My boss literally thinks Anaika's secretary would call me—a nobody. But I must obey his order. So I book an auto, sit inside it eating from a packet of chips. I am Satyaki, a rookie reporter as I've already told you. I am a Computer Engineer by education, reporter by profession and by passion... anyways leave it. And I know I don't need to tell you who Anaika Mallick is. She is a Computer Science graduate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she founded her start-up from scratch without any assistance in the second year of college itself. That start-up is today the biggest multinational technological conglomerate in the world and Anaika has been named the topmost powerful woman in Forbes list. She is one of the most powerful business leaders in the world and she's only 32 years old. Her company was based in Silicon Valley, U.S. but suddenly without any prior information, Anaika landed in Mumbai, India with a press release announcing shifting of her firm's headquarter to Mumbai. It was all so sudden that share market grew so volatile. But it was consistent to the style of Anaika. Even with the whole world at her feet, no one even knows what Anaika looks like. She's a perfect enigma...and my boss thinks she will call me for an interview. My boss is in for a rude surprise! We'll, not my boss, I'll be in for a rude surprise as always. I know I am the most mocked-at employee at my office, the most bullied one. I know I'm weird but I never disturb anyone, so why is no one nice to me? A poor old woman raps at the autorickshaw I'm sitting in and asks for my packet of chips. I'm starving and I wish her to go away but she keeps seeing me with her beseeching eyes. I give her my packet of chips. I know I'll regret it when my stomach will ache later from hunger but whenever I see someone less fortunate than me, it makes me restless until I help them. Now the fact I'm down of luck most of the time, is another matter.
I reach Picosys headquarters. It's the highest building in Mumbai and I gape with an open mouth. Though an year has passed since I came to Mumbai for my job, I'm still shocked by its tall buildings and this building...it is a different beast.
I go inside. If the outside of the building was a beast, the inside is a monster. It's so big...so big...
"Ms. Satyaki Mishra?" A beautiful looking young woman calls me.
"Yes," I say. I am so short in front of her and chubby in front of her slender figure. Her hair are perfect while mine are dishevelled. She's wearing a crisp green shirt and brown pants and I'm wearing the T-shirt I was sleeping in and...pajamas.
"Anaika ma'am is waiting for you," she escorts me outside a biggest cabin in which the nameplate is hung with name—Anaika Mullick, CEO and Managing Director.
I push the door and ask, "May I come in ma'am?"
"You are already inside my cabin, Ms. Mishra," I hear a powerful voice.
I enter, standing near a chair. I'm literally trembling.
A woman is sitting with her back towards me. Finally she turns and stands up to shake my hand and lo... I'll never forget the sight.
She is 5'10" tall. She's wearing a black pantsuit that flatters her supermodel-like hourglass figure. Her hair are copper colour with soft curls reaching a little below her shoulders. Her purple eyes are gazing me coolly. Her lips are full and sumptuous shaped like cupid bow and her red lipstick is making her look more bewitching and powerful.
I didn't realize when I say on the chair. As soon as I realize this, I stand up, "Sorry ma'am, I...I di...didn't realize..."
"It's fine, Satyaki," Anaika says, her voice betraying a light warmth and compassion, "Please sit."
"Ma'am I didn't even prepare the questions. I thought it was a scamster. I didn't know you were really you...I thought Anaika was not you...I mean...You understand na what I'm saying...Oh, I'm mixing it all up."
She looks at me with amusement, crossing her one leg over the other. Her heels are really high. She's already tall and with these high heels...well here is a woman who doesn't even care she towers most men around her in fact, she openly flaunts it.
"You've always wanted to become a writer, Satyaki," she says. Her voice feels motherly. I wonder how does she know so much about me. I didn't even tell most people about my love for writing and after taking the job as a reporter, it's basically a dead dream.
"Everyone is wondering why I shifted my headquarters from Silicon Valley to India," Anaika says, "But no one will be able to find out the reason except you. So Satyaki, I, Anaika Mallick, the most powerful businesswoman, have come to Mumbai to fulfil a dream I saw fifteen years ago."
"What's your dream? You've already achieved so much," I simply say wondering what is that thing Anaika doesn't have even after achieving so much.
"In spite of every luxury at my feet, I still don't have one thing- Revenge," Anaika said, with a cruel glint in her eyes, "And today is the day my revenge begins and you my love, will chronicle, the ruin of my every enemy."
So this is how I began writing my book. This is the story of Cinderella who was left burning in hell by her Prince Charming. This is the story of the most ruthless anti-heroine, Ms. Anaika Mullick and her revenge which she painstakingly weaved with her blood, sweat and tears for fifteen years.
