CHAPTER TEN.

x. cannot stop me!
DAYS WENT BY with the angel locked away in a room deep in her own thoughts. She envisioned futures of both circumstances, and yet her decision was not made any clearer. Spending time with the hunter made her passion and desire for him grow, but being up in Heaven made her love for her job and helping others flourish. She lived to serve and protect, but what was the better option for her?
A knock sounding throughout the room broke her silence. "Are you alright?" She whisked herself to the door and opened it slowly. Sam stood before her with a small, worried smile pressed to his lips. "You've been in here for a long time."
"I know. I have been thinking."
Ariel stepped backwards to allow him into the room. "I thought you had already made your decision."
"It is not that easy. I have been an angel since the dawn of time. This is all I have ever known."
Sam sighed. He was conflicted as well. He would never want her to give up her role in life for him, but he also dreamed of being with her for the rest of his life. He had grown fond of her. She captivated him and invaded every thought he has in a day. No human being has made him feel the way she does, although she is not a human being. Sam felt extremely guilty for this large decision laying on her shoulders.
"I understand what you're going through," Sam began. "I want to help you. I want you to choose what's best for you."
Ariel smiled as she placed a hand on his cheek. "Thank you, Sam. I believe that I will choose what is best for me."
A single moment passed, and suddenly Ariel's entire surroundings changed completely. She was thrusted into a chair in a large, white court room. Naomi sat before her on a large pedestal that closely resembled that of a judge. She turned around to see thousands of familiar faces staring directly back at her. Fear crept up her neck as she gulped and looked back at Naomi.
"Today we are witnessing the trial of the archangel of nature and protection. Ariel has been accused of harvesting feelings for a human." Naomi spoke like venom. The way she said the word "human" sent shivers down Ariel's spine.
An uproar amongst the crowd emerged that made the archangel's blood boil. How dare they laugh and ridicule her for something that she could not control. She was an archangel, and could smite them without hesitation.
"Silence!" Naomi boomed. "The hunter Sam Winchester is the victim here. Ariel has brainwashed him to fall for her in order to use him to her abilities, which is in direct violation of Angel Rule number 5698!" The audience began to scream and shout once again.
Naomi allowed them to die down before she continued with her speech. "Today we have many witnesses that can testify in the case. The persecution can take the first choice." She pointed at an angel standing to Ariel's right. The archangel whipped her head to see the archangel of justice, Raguel, standing to his feet. She scowled. If he truly supported justice he should be helping her.
"The persecution calls witness number one, Dean Winchester, to the stand." Raguel's voice boomed.
Ariel whipped her head to the witness stand, hopefully. Dean always looked out for her. He welcomed her to the family quickly, and always made her feel like them.
"Dean Winchester," Raguel began. "Brother of the victim." Dean furrowed his eyebrows at that adjective he used to describe him. "Ariel came into your life how?"
Dean looked at Ariel quickly before looking back at Raguel. "Um she came to help us with our mission on throwing the leviathans back into Purgatory."
Raguel nodded. "Did she ever get close to anyone in the family?"
"My brother, Sam."
"I see. And did she get close with anyone else?"
Dean snickered. "Not like that."
"Did Sam ever fall that fast for anyone before?"
Dean pondered for a moment. Ariel gulped as she watched him think over many things. "Not when I think about it, no."
The crowd gasped. Ariel dropped her head in her hands. Why the hell would he say that?
"I rest my case." Raguel smirked.
The crowd began to converse and murmur amongst themselves and Naomi turned to face Ariel. "The defense, you may now question the witness."
Ariel stood to her feet. "Dean, is there any way that I could be mind controlling your brother into falling in love with me?"
"What?" Dean said with his eyebrows raised. "How the hell do you get that impression?"
Ariel smirked, but kept her composure. "Well clearly I don't. But would you say it is possible for someone to catch feelings as quickly as Sam did for me?"
"Yes, for sure. He really cares deeply for you. You have-"
Naomi interjected quickly, "she's mind controlling Dean now!"
The crowd let out a loud roar that erupted through the entire court room. Ariel flinched and grew angrier at the second as Naomi's lies clouded the judgement of every individual in the building. "No!" She tired to scream out, but it was no use. Nobody could hear her over the deafening screams and cries from the audience.
Naomi banged get gavel against the wooden piece that demanded silence through the whole crowd. "Order in this courthouse!" The audience quieted down and allowed the judge to speak.
"The persecution may call its next witness to the stand."
Ariel looked at Dean with worried eyes, but she maintained her composure as she glanced at Raguel beside her. "The persecution calls witness number two, Sam Winchester, to the stand."
The crowd gasped, and Ariel whipped her head to the witness stand. Sam sat here with a blank look on his face. She showed absolutely no emotion and stared at the back wall of the court room. She had never seen him like that before. "What's wrong with him." She called out with worry clear in her voice.
Naomi whipped her head at Ariel with fury clouding her eyes. "How dare you speak out of term." She boomed. Ariel's blood began to boil. "Persecution, you may begin your questioning."
Raguel smiled as he stood to his feet. "Sam, how are you feeling today?"
"Good." The hunter was quick to respond with.
The archangel of justice smiled at Ariel. "See? He's fine." Ariel growled at him.
Raguel turned back to Sam. "I want your completely and honest candor here. You are not able to lie upon the stand or else it will bring you severe agony. I will ask this one time, Sam. "How long have you spent with the individual sitting at that table over there?" He asked, pointing at Ariel.
"A couple days."
Raguel nodded. "A couple days. Not long enough to fall for someone, especially with Naomi summoning her so often." Ariel was shocked. She was hurt. She was angry. How can he say that? Raguel continued, nonetheless. "Can you explain what you have done in those few days?"
"She came to our house out of no where. We researched a case, and then she left. I never saw her after that." Sam said in a monotone voice. Ariel knew something was wrong, but there was nothing she could do. She had lost. Sam was gone.
Raguel smiled. "One final question. Do you, Sam Winchester, have any feelings for this individual sitting before you?"
"No. I have no feelings for her."
The crowd bursted into excitement. Ariel sat there fuming in her chair. She wanted to run. She wanted to scream. She wanted to hide. She wanted to throw this table as far as she could. So many feelings erupted inside of her, and she had nothing to do.
"It is now the defense's turn to address the witness."
Ariel looked at Sam. He continued his blank stare at the back of the wall. "May I approach the stand?" Ariel asked. Sam nodded.
The archangel slowly walked towards him. "Sam." She started as she began to raise her hand to touch his temple. The tip of her finger began to glow blue as well as her eyes, but suddenly all of her powers were drained completely. Ariel furrowed her eyebrows.
Naomi stood abruptly to her feet. She grabbed Ariel with her powers and threw her back to her seat across the room. "Did you all see that?" She boomed to the crowd. "She tried to tamper with the witness!"
"No!" Ariel yelled as loud as she could. As the crowd began to erupt in screams, she threw her hands to the side and silenced them. "You are mind controlling him! Look at him! He can not even look anywhere but that spot on the wall!"
Naomi laughed. "You are ridiculous. She clearly cannot win so she must play the victim."
"This is ridiculous. I never mind controlled him. You need to stop this facade and show the true details of what happened. I will be leaving heaven and there is nothing you can do to stop me."
