*Chapter One* {Pilot}

"You do realize that this will be my fourth time going to high school right?" Alvina says sitting in a blue '69 Chevy Camaro convertible. Her eyes look through her sunglasses and towards the Mystic Falls High School.

"And I'm sure you'll do even better this time than the last three" The driver, best friend and caregiver, Damon Salvatore tells her with a smirk. She slowly turns her head to look at him. She's unamused. "Oh, come on, we talked about this."

"No, you said 'Wanna go to high school to spy on my baby bro?' and I said 'No, terrorizing him is your plan, not mine' and you were like 'Thanks, you're the best'" Damon rolls her eyes as Alvina over exaggerates his voice.

"I do not sound like that," He tells her. "And I definitely didn't say you were the best."

"No, you have a more 'I'm-a-complete-douche' tone to your voice but since I'm a perfect angel I can't sound like you and of course, I am the best" Alvina gives him an innocent yet devious smirk.

"Perfect angel my ass" Damon snorts. "Look, you don't have to go the whole year, alright? You don't even have to do anything. Stefan will think you're doing something devious for me which will drive him crazy. Come on, Al, for it for me" Damon pouts. She glares at him from under the sunglasses.

"One month," She said. He instantly grins. "Then I'm dropping out."

"Agreed" He nods. "Though I think you should consider getting your diploma, someone your age should be in school" Damon smirks as she grabs her bag and opens the door.

"I'm just as old as you dipshit, don't forget that" She points at him.

"Actually I'm 13 years older than you and as the older adult, I have to make sure you get your education" He smirks and winks at her.

She smirks back and extends her hand towards him. With a snap of her fingers, she creates a small flame above her thumb which she uses to ignite his shirt.

"Damn it, Al!" Damon snapped quickly putting it out. She smirks and climbs out of the car.

"You better pick me up or I swear I'll slash your tires and destroy your engine" She threatens him.

"Damn, leave my baby alone you violent monster" Alvina smirks and shuts the door. She gives him a girlie wave before spinning on her heels and strutting into the building listening as the Camaro quickly drives away before too many people noticed him.

As soon as she entered the school, all eyes were on her. She ignored them. She knew she was beautiful but that's all there is to her. She's beautiful, she's powerful and that's where it ends. There's nothing worth getting involved with her. People only liked her for her exterior or for her power. Damon is the only exception to this, though even after everything he still mainly uses her for his plans. She stopped caring a long time ago.

"Found you" Alvina whispers slowly taking her glasses off. She puts them away, her eyes trained on a certain blonde. She saunters over and stands behind him as he talks to the secretary.

"Your records are incomplete. You're missing immunization records, and we do insist on transcripts" The woman behind the desk explained.

"Please look again. I'm sure everything you need is there" Stefan compels. Alvina smirks slightly but stays quiet, for not.

"Well, you're right. So it is" The lady 'realizes'. She hands him his schedule and bids him a good day. He smiles and turns but comes to an abrupt stop upon seeing Alvina.

"Hey, Broody" Alvina wiggles her eyebrows grinning widely.

"Al, what are you doing here?" He asked. She gives him a small shrug and looks around innocently.

"Dunno, to be honest." She told him, her eyes meeting his again. "Got a good recommendation for this school, figured I'd check it out."

"Damon here?" He asked. She scoffs.

"Since when does Damon go to school?" She walks around him and up to the secretary. "Hi, I need my schedule please"

"Name?" The lady asks.

"Alvina Salvatore," She says before glancing at Stefan. He raises an eyebrow towards her. She gives him a shrug. "Cousins, don't think we could exactly pull off siblings," She tells him. The secretary gives them a curious look but doesn't say anything.

"Here you are Ms. Salvatore," The lady says handing her the schedule.

"Thank you," Alvina grins before stepping away from the desk. "Zach's my father, who would have thought, right?" Alvina teases clapping him on the back.

"What are you really doing here, Al?" Stefan asked as they walked down the hallway.

"I'm just trying to get a high school education, I am only 16 after all" She shrugs smirking at him. "Oh! And looky here Steffie Poo" Alvina holds her schedule by his. "Identical! What a coincidence" She laughs and wraps her arm around his neck. "See ya in first period cuz" Alvina winks at him before releasing him of her grip. She walks away from him and down the hall.

Eventually, she makes her way towards class, history. She smirks seeing Stefan sitting on one side of the room. His attention isn't on her but someone else. She follows his gaze and sees him watching Elena Gilbert. Alvina remembered Damon telling her about the girl that looked exactly like his precious Katherine.

"Hi, mind if I sit here?" Alvina asked the cute nerd that's sitting in beside Stefan.

"Al, that seats obviously taken," Stefan said. Alvina pouts.

"But Steffie, it's my first day and I don't wanna sit by someone I don't know" She whined before giving the nerd a puppy dog face. "You don't mind finding another seat, do ya?" She asked her puppy dog face turning into a smile, her teeth capturing her bottom lip.

"N-No, I-I don't mind" He shakes his head standing up quickly.

"Thank you, cutie" Alvina gives him a wink and a quick kiss on his cheek before sitting down. The nerd blushes and touches his cheek as he goes to a different cheek. Alvina winks at Stefan who rolls his eyes but couldn't help but to smile and shake his head. Alvina giggles to herself as the teacher enters the room.

"Once our home state of Virginia joined the confederacy in 1861, it created a tremendous amount of tension within the state...." Alvina doesn't bother to continue listening. She glances at Stefan only to see him still staring at Elena Gilbert.

Alvina's eyes then notice his exposed wrist. There's a tattoo that's usually covered. The initials R.M. are tattooed in gold bold letters. Her eyes widen slightly as she makes eye contact with Stefan. He looks down at his wrist and quickly covers it up.

Utter confusion takes over her mind. She slouches in her seat as she tries to wrap her mind around what she's seen but nothing can explain it. Once the class lets out, Stefan practically races out but Alvina quickly follows him. With so many humans around, he can't escape her.

She grabs his bicep and yanks him outside and away from everyone. She keeps her grip on him tight and gives him a 'Don't-even-think-about-leaving' look. Stefan sighs and nods.

"Talk" She snapped crossing her arms.

"What do you want to know?" He asked leaning against a random car.

"Why the fuck are you eye-fucking some girl that looks like your ex-girlfriend when you have found your soulmate?" She snapped angrily.

Soulmates. Every supernatural creature has one. The moment a werewolf triggers their curse, a vampire completes the transition, a witch taps into their magic and a fairy is born, at least one tattoo forms on the wrist. A tattoo with the initials of the soulmate. If the initials are grey, the soulmate has yet to be born, if the initials are black, their born and ready to be found, and if the initials are gold, you've found them. Only by direct, skin-on-skin contact can you know for sure you've found your soulmate.

Soulmates are extremely sacred in the supernatural community. They give you strength, not only physical but mental. Their a vampire's humanity, a witch's source of power, a werewolf's reason for living, and all of the above for fairy's. This does not mean that a vampire has no humanity until they meat their soulmate nor does it mean a witch does not have magic until then, a werewolf can live a happy life and a fairy can have all without them.

However, once one finds their soulmate they give a witch all the strength in the world, keeps a vampire who is in their lowest of mindsets from falling over the edge, helps a werewolf see through the pain and the beauty of life.

"I don't remember her" Stefan answers shrugging. Alvina frowns her eyebrows. "I don't remember anything about her. What she looks like, what she sounds like, her full name, nothing" He explains. "And obviously she's still alive or else the tattoo would have faded. So, she's alive and out there living life without me. Shouldn't I try to live my life without her?" He raises an eyebrow at her.

"How are you so calm about all of this?" Alvina asks. She's seen mates who have lost their other half, they went crazy, dark, rabid even.

"I don't know" He shrugs. "I feel normal." He tells her. "I've had the gold letters since the '20s. I've learned to just ignore it."

"Well, can't you just trace the letters and get a memory of them?" Alvina suggested.

If the soulmate is alive, one only has to trace the tattoo to get a glimpse at a moment in their life. It can be any moment but it shows you what they look like, what they sound like and even a hint at where they might be.

"Doesn't work" He says. Alvina raises her eyebrows. "Look, I don't understand it either. I've tried to get witches to explain it to me but the ones who would help didn't understand either."

"I'm sorry" Alvina whispers. He shrugs.

"As I said, I've learned to just ignore it," He tells her. He gives her a small smile. "Don't worry about it, it's my problem."

"Still," Alvina said. "I wish there was something I could do." Stefan smiles and pats her arm standing up.

"There isn't, I've spent decades trying. She doesn't want to be in my life so I just have to keep on moving." Alvina gives him a small smile. "What about you? Find him yet?"

"No, haven't found any of them yet," She says.

"Any?" He questions. She holds up four fingers. "Wow" He mutters and she nods lowering her hand. "The most I've seen is three"

"Look at me, breaking records and it's not even noon" She smirks clapping his back. "Come on, we've got class," She said leading him inside.

"You gonna tell me the real reason you're here?" Stefan asked as they walked to class. Alvina chuckles.

"I told you, Stephanie, I'm just trying to get an education" Alvina winks at him. Stefan rolls his eyes and follows her into the classroom.
