3rd Person POV
The wedding only took a few months to plan. All Zeta and Jax wanted was to seal in their love and tell the world they would be together forever. The accepted each other throughout their flaws and their past mistakes. All they cared about was their future.
Zeta took Nora, Lucy, Emerson, Silvia, and Aria to help her pick out a wedding dress. She didn't want anything too over the top, but she wanted something beautiful and unique. She tired on approximately 12 different dresses, but eventually fell in love with a cloud-like floor length, long sleeve swoop lace ball gown.
It was perfect.
As the brides maids, Nora, Silvia, Aria, and Lucy got burgundy colored dresses with matching bouquets. Zeta had a difficult time deciding who she wanted to be her maid of honor, but she eventually realized that Emerson was her first real friend and she believed she deserved the important role. Her dress was similar to those of the brides maids, however it had a different skirts style and she got a different bouquet and got to give a speech after the ceremony.
After the dress, she found the shoes, veil, jewelry, and everything else with ease.
The location was going to be a winery outside with a beautiful view of the color-changing trees and the lake behind them. They had everything set up and it almost brought Zeta to tears. It was quaint and simple, but thats all she wanted.
Meanwhile, Jax was attempting to maintain his composure, but was having a difficult time. Everyone believes the myth that the groom has it easy, but he didn't. He was struggling to believe his vows were perfect and that his hair looked alright and if everything was going well.
His mother and brother told him to relax and that everything was going to be okay. Josh was going to be his best man. And his sister, Anastasia as well as his daughter, Adelyn, were going to the the flower girls. Ada could barely walk, but they thought it would be cute and memorable. Anastasia also agreed to step up and help her if she needed.
"Everything will be fine." Josh sure him. "Yeah, Jaxon. Believe me, no wedding is 'perfect.' As much as you want it to, you just have to make it yours. Promise me you won't freak out anymore." Jay nodded and let out a sigh, "Alright mom, I promise." She kissed him on the forehead and went to go get the little girls dressed and ready.
Aria was finishing up Zeta's hair and makeup while the others were getting dressed. "I forgot you went to school to be a hair stylist." Zeta told her "You literally saved me." Aria beamed, "Thank you, Zeta. And I've always loved make up so the natural look you're going for won't take that long." Emerson approached them, "Aria... you're not gonna have time to do my hair, will you? Because the hair curlers did NOT work and Lucy and Nora are busy with their hair and make up."
Aria sighed, "The bride is more important. If I have time after hers and myself, then I will. But I don't know if I will." Emerson roles her eyes, "Of course I wasn't saying drop what your doing with the bride and most important part of the wedding! I'm just asking if you can help me after!" Zeta laughed, "Oh sisters are funny. Remind me to get one sometime."
They all laughed and some tension was let go. "Yeah, Emerson, I'll do your hair after Zeta's. I'm actually just putting in the beaded hair clips and then I'm done. Zeta, do you think you can do your foundation and give me a canvas so when I'm back I only need to do your eyes and the finishing touches?" Zeta nodded, "Yep. Can do. Thanks again!"
So the girls finished up getting ready and Aria finished Zeta's look before double checking everyone else. "Guys! We look soon good! BUT! Most importantly..." she spun Zeta around "SHE looks amazingly good!!" They all gasped, "Oh my gosh, Zeta!" "You look so beautiful!" "Stunning," "He is going to freak when he sees you!"
"I'm so glad this worked out! And with enough time to spare. I need to make sure everything else is ready to go!" But her friends stopped her. "Oh, no, no, no!" says Silvia. "We'll go make sure everything is all good to go." Nora chimes in "You sit here and relax for the last 20-ish minutes." Lucy nods, "Yeah. I'll stay with you and you can read me your vows."
The other girls laughter fades as they exited the rooms. "I don't know, Lucy. I'm kind of nervous and I don't know if they'll be as good as Jax's." Lucy shook her head, "It's not a completion," she giggled "Just say what you really feel and... it'll be perfect."
Zeta bopped her head, "You're right." she read her vows and as she finished, she glanced upon Lucy's face to attempt and read her expression. She couldn't tell if it was an expression of approval or confusion. Lucy almost started tearing up and Zeta sighed a breath of relief, "So they're good?" Lucy nodded quickly, "Of course they are! That was so beautiful!"
After a few more minutes, everything and everyone was ready and Jax's mother motioned for everyone to get into their places.
Zeta's heart was pounding and it felt like it was an animal fighting desperately to escape it's cage. It felt like it would escape and/or explode.
Jax felt the same. He didn't want anything to go wrong. He hoped he would be able to give Zeta the perfect day she deserves. All he cared about was making her happy and showing he loved her. Nothing else mattered at the moment.
Finally the music started playing and everyone was in their place. The ring-bearer, then Anastasia and Adelyn, then the brides maids and maid of honor. Finally, the music changed and everyone stood up to wait for Zeta to come in.
Jay forgot about everyone else in the room and tunneled his vision on the aisle. Waiting for the love of his life to appear. And when she did, it was almost like the whole world went silent. Everything disappeared and the spotlight was only on her. The lights reflected off of her beautiful gown, making it appear like she was twinkling and shining. Her smile made her glow. And Jax couldn't believe it.
She was walking alone as her father was unable to come. But she didn't care. She couldn't wait to be married.
She arrived and handed her bouquet to Nora. Then she too Jax's hand and walked up the steps to the officiant. "You look absolutely beautiful." Jay whispered. "Thank you, handsome." she responded.
That's when the music stopped and everyone sat down.
The officiant was Zeta's Aunt Jenny. Zeta wanted more of her family to be a part of her special day so when she asked Jenny to marry her and Jax, she was honored and got to work on getting licensed to do so.
Zeta knew she understood them as a couple and trusted she could relay their love story to the guests on her big day. She started from the beginning and quickly summarized the series of events that led her and Jax there, adding a few witty jokes here and there.
When it got time for the vows, hearts started racing again. Jax was first.
"Zeta." she looked deep into his eyes as he read: "Life has never come easy to you and you had one hell-of-a way of hiding it. But that made you into the strong, amazing woman you are now. When you let me into your life, I may not have known at the time, but deep down I somehow knew it would become my duty to love and support you. Every since we bumped into each other on your first day of school, there was an invisible sting connecting us. You may not have had love or trusted it, but you trusted me and loved and cared for me. Today, I promise to show that same care and consideration for you for the rest of my life. Right now, it's the easiest thing in the world to do because I honestly love you so much and want nothing but your happiness, but even when things are difficult and it gets hard to do and our love gets more comfortable, complacent and timeworn, I will always show that same care and consideration for you."
Everyone cooed and "awed."
Zeta held up her paper and began reading it aloud: "Jax, you and I both know how indecisive and insecure I can be at times. I simply don't like to make decisions or trust anyone. But if there is one decision in my life that I know is the right one, it's to trust that you love me and I trust myself to know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. There is an infinite number of things I love about you. I love your thoughtfulness and your ability to keep me grounded. I love your loyalty to me and our relationship. I love the way you laugh and make me ugly laugh with your goofy faces. There is no alternative to loving you. From the moment we met, I felt in my heart that we were destined for each other. I promise to be the best me I can be for you and to love and trust you for the rest of my life. Because if you can support me, then that should be a breeze. Because you believed in me when no one else would, I've got your back... forever."
It was so silent you could hear a pin drop. At first, Zeta was nervous, but Jax has to wipe away tears. "I love you so much." he said. She almost started bawling, but choked on the words, "I love you too."
Jenny asked for the rings and they put them on each other. "Now. Jaxon Brown, do you take Zanetta Taylor to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, 'til death do you part?" He nodded, "I do." Jenny turned to Zeta, "And do you, Zanetta Taylor, take Jaxon Brown to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, 'til death do you part?" She bopped her head up and down, "I do!"
"Then by the power vested in me by the wonderful magic of Mr. Google!" the crowd laughed "I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may now kiss the bride!"
Zeta and Jax wasted no time on embracing each other. The crowd exploded in applause and cheering. All their friends were there and their family as well. It wasn't a lot of people, but it was enough. It was all they really needed. And they had each other for the rest of their lives.
Zeta had spend the majority of her life in sadness and anger. She didn't believe she could love anyone else or even herself. But that was nothing to her now. Because she was truly happy. She knew everything ahead of her wouldn't be easy, but she found the love of her life.
And that meant everything...
