THE ALPHA POV

I sent one of my beta's out in search of a new wolf that had recently entered town. But, when he returned, he was seriously injured. "Did she do that to you?" another beta, David asked. "She is tougher than she looks," the beaten beta comes up to me. "And boss, she wanted to give you a message, to send your best," he repeated the message.

Once hearing the words, I smiled. Then nodded my head at him in thanks."Well, I guess I have to go and ask the little wolf myself."

Third person POV

Laura had returned to her apartment at a much later time than expected. The conversation with the beta had taken a lot longer than she would have liked. Or, wanted especially, given that the beta wasn't much help.

Even more so as she realized, looking around that something was off about the atmosphere. She couldn't place what it was. So, she shrugged it off, believing it was simply because she had been followed by the beta, and it made her paranoid.

So, she ignored it.

By the time she realized that she wasn't paranoid, that there was something that was in her apartment.
