Chapter 5

Olivia didn't want to talk about what had happened at school. To her it was easier to keep it inside and deal with it herself rather than bother others. Every time Noah would try to talk to her about it, she would change the topic until he stopped pushing her about this. It's not healthy to not talk to others, it's not healthy to keep everything inside.

And she felt like she couldn't even talk to Hailey about it because she felt guilty. Somehow and unluckily, Brooke had seen what happened between Noah and Olivia and was now texting Hailey for information, which obviously she didn't give her. But the good news from that was that based on reading those texts from Brooke, she seemed to not know who Olivia was. She hadn't seen her face. All she'd seen was Olivia pulling away and and move to her next class, away from where Brooke was supposedly standing and then Noah following her. But it was only a matter of time before she did find out.

One of the things Olivia was afraid of was Brooke finding out who she was and then finding out about her youtube channel and then outing her on it. If Olivia ever decided to show her face on there it should be when she is ready and it needs to be done by her, not Brooke.

Olivia was sitting in her room on the floor, not really doing anything when she heard a soft knock on her door, it was open so when she turned her head, she saw that it was Noah.

Sometimes when she was left alone to her thoughts it would sort of drown her if she couldn't distract herself and if she didn't cry, there would just be a single tear on her cheek. Which is the first thing that Noah noticed. When Olivia didn't tell him to leave or to leave her alone, he slowly walked to where she was sitting on the floor and sat next to her. At this point he knew better than to try to talk to her about what happened at school. He wasn't getting anywhere that way.

He was sitting closer to her than when they had first talked to each other but still a respectful distance from her. He reached his hand forward towards her face and gently wiped the single tear away but didn't say anything. He didn't want to upset her and have her distance herself even further from him. But that single movement caused her slightly move closer and lean against him. So they were just sitting there in silence. Because Hailey was right, sometimes all you can do is just simply be there for her.

Noah thinks that it seemed to help her because after what felt like forever, Olivia fell asleep against him even though they were still in a sitting position. That was when Hailey quietly made her way in the room and noticed that Olivia was actually asleep.

"Is she actually sleeping?" Noah heard Hailey whisper. If Olivia was actually getting sleep then she was gonna make damn sure she didn't wake her. Noah slowly nodded.

While watching Olivia to make sure she didn't wake up Hailey said, "Austin is here by the way"

Noah was torn as to what to do. Knowing that Olivia doesn't get much sleep like at all he didn't want to wake her up but he also didn't want to make his friend go home. Noah then looked down at Olivia and moved one arm around her waist tried pulling her closer in his lap into a position that he could pick her up without waking her. Hailey backed up seeing this as to give him room to do so.

He was so focused on moving her to her bed without waking her that only Hailey noticed when Olivia seemed to move closer to him in her sleep. He laid her down and let out a soft breath of air that she didn't wake up. But now she was sort of holding onto him by his hoodie, which forced him to lay down next to her. Hailey noticing what was happening, moved to the other side of the bed and laid down on the other side of Olivia to see if she could get Olivia to let go of him and maybe lean against her instead. Which somehow worked after a minute. Neither of them even noticing that Austin was standing in the hall by the door watching the entire thing.

And Austin was only there because he was wondering where he was and what was taking so long after Hailey had let him inside. Then he backed up and waited in the hallway wondering who that was. About a minute later Noah came out of the room and saw Austin waiting for him.

"Who was that?" Austin asked. He had no clue. He saw the extra car in the driveway but no one had said anything to him.

"Long story, but she's Hailey's friend who basically moved in with us." Noah explained softly, making their way away from her room. It made sense to Austin about why the license plate didn't say Kansas now.

...

Slowly and slowly after simply observing Olivia and Noah when they were around each other, Hailey was thinking that Noah was good for her. Little differences can be big differences later on. Like how Noah somehow was able to get Olivia to sleep, even on accident. He's probably the only guy that she can relax around, as far as Hailey has seen. Which of course led to thoughts about the two of them together, and for some reason, the thought of both of them together didn't bother her. Like, at all. Well that's not true. There was only one issue with it and that would be once Brooke found out about them being together and what she would do to Olivia. Stopping herself right there, they aren't even together. Hailey's thoughts had a mind of its own sometimes. But once some of those thoughts started, she couldn't forget about it.

...

It was later that night that Olivia woke up again, but by then Hailey had left to go to bed in her own room and Austin had went home. Not that Olivia had any knowledge of either. She only remembered sitting with Noah and that's it, which makes sense since she had been asleep since then. She noticed she was in her bed but didn't really think anything of it. But of course now that she was awake, she couldn't go back to sleep. And after sitting there in the dark for awhile, she did something that she didn't think she would ever do, or have the courage to do. She isn't stupid, she realized that it was Noah that somehow got her to fall asleep.

So she got up and checked the time on her phone, it was around midnight. Olivia walked down the hall and noticed that there was a light coming from Noah's room. And if she was caught awake and walking around at that time of night she would never admit that she was actually going to Noah's room. And she didn't know exactly why she was either. She was still half asleep and tired. In the back of her mind she guessed that maybe he could help her fall back asleep or something.

Olivia stood in the doorway and saw that the light was coming from his computer on his desk, and there he sat, in the middle of the night, editing. It was then she all of a sudden felt silly and weird about coming to him in the first place. But also didn't leave. The amount of time she stood there would have looked creepy to literally anyone who saw, not that anyone did though, it was just them. But then she had to make a decision, leave or go in. And she chose to go in only because she was so desperate to be able to sleep. As weird as this sounds, sometimes people just need human contact.

He had headphones on and she didn't want to scare him. But luckily or unluckily, she couldn't decide, he sensed something and turned around and saw her. He looked at her confused and then took of his headphones and turned fully to her. It was like neither wanted to break the silence. For him, she was finally coming to him after all this time of avoiding him, and he didn't want to ruin this. Noah stood up from his desk and slowly approached her, just hoping she wouldn't feel uncomfortable and suddenly leave. Before she knew or processed what she was doing, Olivia met him halfway and wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. All her brain knew was that she was relaxed now. Usually Olivia was never able to get that comfortable around guys anymore, especially this fast.

"I'm sorry.." Olivia mumbled into his neck. He had done nothing wrong. "It's okay," Noah said and tightened his arms around her.

"You're just saying that to make me feel better." This is when Olivia pulled away from his hold.

After Noah didn't say anything because he didn't want to say the wrong thing, Olivia looked down at her hands and said, "I can't sleep."

Noah turned his head to his laptop, "I still have to finish editing but you can try to sleep in my room if you want..". He honestly had no idea how she would respond to this. Seemed like a risky thing to say.

She slowly nodded, still looking at her hands, not that she could even see her hands, she was wearing a big long sleeve shirt, the sleeves were covering her hands.

Olivia was tempted to have him join her just because of how natural and comfortable that felt but didn't because of how it would sound and look. So she didn't and walked over to lay down, trying to focus her brain on sleep and nothing else. They had gotten reasonably close since she moved in.

About 20 minutes later Noah noticed Olivia tossing and turning a lot and unplugged his laptop and turned the brightness down even further and made his way to the opposite side of the bed. He laid down with his laptop on his lap to finish editing from there. He thought back to a few hours earlier when she fell asleep next to him and thought that maybe she just struggles to sleep alone. And soon enough she actually fell asleep, so it seemed to work just having someone next to her, him not even putting together the possibility that maybe she needed to be near him, not just anybody.
