Chapter 3*
It was an annoying long process of phone calls back to back to get this done, and it's not even done! It's like her parents are somehow making this harder than it has to be. Olivia had to call her now old school to get the process started of transferring schools. Who knew it was this complicated?
Since Olivia is technically not an adult yet she can't deal with this completely on her own. So since Clara would be acting as her 'guardian' now she would have to have her sign stuff so she had papers emailed to her so she could get her to sign it since Clara wouldn't be able to do it in person.
Now all that's left is to go to her new school and do the rest in person. Olivia grabbed all the papers she needed and grabbed the car keys. Clara had texted her the address of the school and they knew she was coming so, this was it.
...
She wasn't expecting the sympathetic looks she got in the office, it almost looked pitiful. So they seem to know what's going on with her life, great. One of the counselors walked her out of the office back to the lobby near the cafeteria was, "It will take until tomorrow to create a schedule for you but if you would like I can get someone to give you a tour before you go"
Before Olivia even had the chance to respond she heard Noah behind her, "Olivia?" And again before she could even open her mouth, Olivia's new guidance counselor raised her eyebrows at Noah and said, "Mr. Thomas, aren't you supposed to be in class?"
He looked down at his hands to look guilty but Olivia saw a smirk on his face, "I have a hall pass" Olivia almost had to cover her mouth with her hands as to not laugh. "Really Noah?.." She mumbled, which did not go unnoticed. Again, trying not to laugh.
"I can give Olivia a tour" He offered quickly, just to get out of having to go back to class, or at least right away.
"Mr. Thomas, go get your sister, I know she is at lunch right now, and then get to class"
Noah left quickly into the cafeteria to find Hailey and Olivia chuckled, "Does he try to get out of class often?" She asked. "Yes", she said, rubbing her temples. This time Olivia let herself laugh.
Noah comes back with Hailey looking at little confused, probably because Olivia didn't tell her or Noah for that matter, that she would be here. "Ms. Thomas, could you please give Ms. Taylor here a quick tour of the school? And as lunch will be ending soon for you, when you are done, come back here and I will write you a pass to class and you won't be marked tardy."
She turned to Noah who still hasn't made any sort of movement to go back to class, and just gave him a look. He put his hands up in defense and started walking backwards, "It was worth a shot" He laughed and turned around.
...
"No!" Olivia shouted as she sat up. She looked around to see where she was, apparently she fell asleep on the couch while they were all watching tv.
Olivia stood up before anyone could say anything and grabbed Hailey's hand, "I need to tell you something" and dragged her towards the kitchen.
"What was that?" She asked confused. One second she was asleep and then the next she's awake and dragging her away. It's a valid question.
"There's something I haven't told you.." She was trying to not start pacing. "It's something I have never told anyone. Not even my brother..but it's not bad" She reassured. "It might be easier to show you.."
Now she was trying to think if she should tell Clara and Noah too.. probably should.. and it's not like anything bad will happen. It's just hard to do.
"Hailey, I don't want you to be mad at me for not telling you this. It sort of just happened and for some reason I was embarrassed to people to know. But I understand now that you will forgive me.."
"Olivia, whatever it is, it can't possible be so bad that I'd be mad. Just tell me what it is"
"It would be easier to show you," Olivia sighed, looking towards the front of the house, where just outside her car was.
She left Hailey and went outside to her car. She opened the trunk and moved around a bunch of stuff until she found it. She let out a breath of air and just looked at it. Was she really ready for anyone to know her secret? After staring at it for a few more seconds she pressed the front of it into her and carried it inside.
Olivia walked back inside and knew that Hailey didn't know what it was from the back. She'll know exactly what it is when it's turned around. She was the only one who could see it right now and that might be for the best right now, it would make it easier. Olivia hesitantly flipped it around. She felt so guilty for not telling Hailey that she could barely look her in the eye to see her reaction.
"Is that..?" "-yes" "you have a youtube channel?"
It was Olivia's 100k subscriber plaque.
It wasn't even a question. More confirmation than anything. Olivia flipped it back around to hide it in her arms for some reason and looked down. "I should have told you. But I didn't want anyone to know. At first it was for fun but then it grew to the point where I could make some money off of it and I knew my parents wouldn't have approved and I needed to get out of there so I just never told anyone. There was some people in my life that I knew would tell my parents to screw me over so I just..kept the whole thing a secret." She explained, her arms slowly loosening around the plaque and setting it down.
"I-It's okay" Hailey said softly, which made Olivia able to easily look her in the eye. "But I do have questions"
Hailey laughed but Olivia knew it wasn't at her. Olivia felt like she didn't deserve her. Hailey has every right to be even a little upset with her. Especially since she hasn't told her just how bad Nathan actually was to her. "How does no one know about it if you have that many subscribers?"
Olivia just laughed and smiled. A real smile. "Well actually, I have 400 thousand. But to answer your question. I never showed my face on camera. Or tagged any social media. Although I keep getting comments asking why I don't show my face. But why aren't you mad at me?"
That last sentenced caused her family to look over at them. They had been trying to give them privacy. But Hailey didn't notice since her back was to them.
"I have no right to be mad when I never told you about Noah" She said simply. Which did get his attention. At first Olivia was confused but then realized she was referring to the fact that he is a youtuber. Noah then said, "What about me?" While making his way over to them. Hailey seem to quickly move to hide the plaque from his view not wanting her to be the reason he found out instead of from Olivia herself. She could seriously cry about how much she thought she didn't deserve her. Then she looked at Olivia for her to respond to him.
Olivia paused, giving herself a moment to breathe, "this," Olivia said reaching behind Hailey to pick up the plaque again. Given the expression on his face he really wasn't expecting that. But a second later his eyes lit up, "Cool".
...
Since by now Olivia had realized that she lived here now so after school, 'it's weird to say that now', she went to her car and started to bring her things inside. All she really have is a bunch of clothes in boxes, old yearbooks, and equipment and cords. No camera, but a microphone. The only revealing information of what she actually did on youtube. Not something you may think of, it just sort of happened. She has a box full of games and a separate box full of game systems. A gamer. Yes. Hailey already knew that Olivia liked playing video games but not to this extent. She get comments all the time asking why she doesn't show her face but she never responds to them. The only thing people know is her first name really. She liked her privacy.
This really isn't something she talks about and tell people, it's just something she does. Really when she first started it was to get her mind off of other things. It was a great distraction.
Eventually Olivia finished unpacking her stuff and it was getting late, and she did have school the next day. So she walked out of the guest room, which is now hers, still weird for her to say. Walked past Noah's room and heard something on his tv.
Wait, she knew this game, the music. She stopped, backed up and peaked into his room. He wasn't in there. She knew she shouldn't just go in his room without him there, or without permission for that matter but couldn't help it, she could by now call him her friend and it really was too tempting. She then noticed a camera pointed at where he would be sitting to play but the light wasn't on so the camera isn't on. He was on the game menu of Guitar Hero, she hadn't played this in a long time and it was a good game. One song wouldn't hurt..
...
Olivia walked downstairs and saw Hailey sitting on the couch, "Where were you?" She asked. Turning to her. Olivia was confused, she thought she knew what she was doing. She wasn't exactly hiding.
"What do you mean? Olivia was just unpacking" She replied, with just a slightly confused tone.
"I didn't see you in your room.." Hailey sat down her phone on the coffee table. It looked like she was reading a message. "..I'm sorry..if I sounded like I was accusing you of something, I wasn't. It's just..I didn't have the best day"
Olivia sat down next to her. Hailey must have gone in her room when she was in Noah's and saw she wasn't there. When Olivia actually saw her face she could tell Hailey was annoyed or something, maybe even upset. Her messages were still open on her phone, Olivia glanced over it, she didn't read it but noticed that it was a long message.
"Who's Brooke?" Olivia asked, that was who the message was from. It looked like whatever she said to Hailey is the cause of all this.
She slightly rolled her eyes, "Noah's ex girlfriend"
