Extra #1

"It's hard to believe it's been seven years since we started dating," Eli remarks, spinning his glass around. I nod in agreement, slipping my hand into my pocket and feeling the little box.

"It's hard to believe we started out hating each other," I chuckle, pulling my hand from my pocket and resting it on the table. Eli nods and turns his head to look out the window.

Both of our phones buzz.

"Did Hudson text you?" Eli asks. I turn on my screen and nod. "Jaxon texted me. He's freaking out about his wedding."

"Hudson's worried that something will go really wrong."

"Those doofuses belong together for life."

"Yeah." I reach out and rest a hand over Eli's. "They do."

"I've actually been thinking about how they're getting married, and it kind of made me think about something else." Eli pulls his hand out from underneath mine. My heart drops at his words.

Is he gonna break up with me?

"It made me think about something too."

"Isaac actually helped me out with planning what I'm going to say." Eli stands and moves so he's standing by my side. "I know that when we first got together nothing was going well. Hudson was living at your house and I had just come home from the hospital."

"It was a chaotic time because it was like Jaxon was living there too," I laugh. Eli snickers and his hands slips into his pockets.

"I love you." He looks into my eyes, his shining with tears. "I fell in love with you our senior year of high school."

"I love you too." I turn and smile up at him, then follow his body down to the ground as he kneels.

"I want to spend the rest of my life never doubting that I love you." His hands slide out of his pockets and he pops open a small black box. "Will you marry me?"

I swipe at the tears in my eyes and pull the box out of my pocket, setting in on the table next to me. Eli's head dips as he laughs.

"Felix helped you out, didn't he?" He looks back up at me. I nod and pull the ring from his box, slipping it onto my finger.

"You need a ring too." I open my box and pull the ring out, holding it out to Eli. He takes it with shaking fingers and slips it onto his ring finger.

"I'm taking that as a yes," he says, standing up. I stand and lean forward, pressing my lips to his and wrapping my arms around his waist.

"I love you," I murmur, pulling back only slightly.

"I love you too." He rests his forehead against mine and looks into my eyes. "Now and always."
