Chapter 72
Brandon
Tobias' folks are so cool. His mom is in her mid-forties and a former model, although these days she's more into supporting various charities and painting art. She sells it but gives the money to her causes. What strikes me the most about her is that despite the amount of money they have, she's so down to earth and has this hippie vibe going on.
"Hey guys, good to see you all." She says her smiling face is welcoming. Today, her long auburn hair is in a braid down her back; she's wearing a multi-colored skirt that comes to her ankles, numerous bracelets clanking on her arms, and a tie-dyed top that exposes a flat stomach above the waistband of her skirt.
"Hello, Mrs H. It's good of you to let us all come round."
"Sure, no problem. Tobias' friends are always welcome, you know that, Brandon. Go upstairs, make yourselves comfortable, and I'll have Maria bring some snacks up." She breezes off, and Tobias leads us up the two flights of stairs on the wide and sweeping staircase.
Their house is decorated in neutrals with some of his mother's artwork adorning the walls.
My favourite is a portrait of Tobias when he was just a kid; he's sitting in a rowing boat on a lake that was apparently painted when they were at Lake Como in Italy one year.
"What music do you want on?" He asks as we enter his den. It's the entire top floor of the house. There is a music center that costs a fortune in one corner of the room and on the other side are three tables all with large monitors on them for his gaming. Tobias is a whizz with games, and in his spare time around schoolwork, he writes gaming programmes. One day he's going to be worth a fortune in his own right.
"Taylor Swift." Lilly and Lizzie say in unison as they throw themselves down on a couple of oversized beanbags. Damn, my jersey looks so good on her small body. I'd like to strip it off her and hold her naked skin to mine. It makes me shift in my pants, damn it. It's not on is it? Having feelings like this about her.
"Coming right up." He says. A woman in her early fifties appears with a tray laden down with snacks, pretzels, crisps, drinks, mini pancakes and a whole lot more stuff.
"Thank you, Maria." Tobias goes to take the tray from her.
"I have cookies downstairs and your favorite carrot cake." She tells him, her grey eyes warm with love for her charge. Maria has been their housekeeper and nanny ever since Tobias was born. He's like a son to her.
Tobias puts on a Taylor Swift album. "I love this track so much," Lizzie says, playing with her hair. I catch her looking at me with her head cocked to the side.
I can't be upset with her anymore; it's her life, what she wants to do with being with someone. Although, I still can't get over that some guy is going to experience Lizzie for the first time. He'll be the one who will hear her groan, feel her legs wrapped around his waist and bring her to orgasm. I clench and ball my fists. Heat surges through me; it's a raging torrent of jealousy.
"Are you okay, Brandon? Why are you standing there clenching your fists and so red in the face?" She asks me furrowing her brow.
"Ugh, nothing. I'm cool."
"You guys are winners," Tammy says as she pushes Lizzie aside slightly to get a position on the bean bag. They fall into each other and giggle like school kids. Adorable.
"I know, we smashed it right, but it was a fucking close game. Good job, Joshua and Denver were on form though." I sit down on one of the black leather easy chairs as Tobias passes round the snacks.
"Anyone up for a game of War?" He says as he sits in front of his monitors. I'm telling you the dude is obsessed with his games. He switches his system on and hooks into a game; we can hear voices – the other online players.
"Nah, not me. I'd rather just chill with the music." Denver says, leaning into Lilly on the other bean bag and kissing her.
I watch as Lilly looks into Denver's eyes, and feel something weird in my chest. Jealousy? They've been together a few years now, and their closeness makes me think.
What if I don't want to just screw around anymore? What if I want a steady girl? What if I want it to be Lizzie? I look across to her and smile; she blushes. I'm struggling here to take my eyes off her. Those long, lean legs of hers are outstretched, and I know for a fact how toned they are from all the running she does.
If I continue to think of her like this, I'm going to need to excuse myself and have a cold shower. The way she looks right now with her face flushed, wearing my jersey that's a bit too big for her – it's making me hot and bothered. In all honesty, I want to take it off her and fondle her tits; I want to do so many dirty things to my Lizzie-Baby that it's making my dick uncomfortable against my zipper. Fuck, I probably need to get seriously laid at some point to take my mind off Lizzie right now.
Tammy is watching Tobias with her faraway look on her face. I'm wondering if she is going to get it on with him. It'd be the best thing for her and for Tobias since he's been crushing on her ever since I can remember.
He's definitely a better bet for her than most of the jerks she has dated in the past. The thing with Tammy is she wants a long-standing relationship, something she craves since her folks were always ditching her and Willow to travel. Apparently, they're staying now. I hope they don't fuck up again and leave their kids alone, especially not with what happened to Tammy recently.
I want to sit close to Lizzie, only I'm kind of worried about the effect she is having on me.
"Sit your ass down, Brandon over here. Why you sitting all the way over there?" I mooch over to her and grab the last bean bag in the room, wondering what happened to the rest of our team; nobody has shown up.
"I think they've probably opted for the party with beers," Lizzie says. Is she reading my mind? Of course, she knows me too well.
I shrug my shoulders. "No doubt, losers. It was our last game and all."
"Don't worry about it. If they get caught, it's their issue. Plus we'll all be separated after the summer, so it's good to hang out together." From Denver's mouth, and isn't that the truth? I look at Lizzie; she has a longing in her eyes and something that looks like sadness.
"Hey, you okay?" I ask her. She nods.
"Yeah, sure. Just you know us all going our different ways after the summer, it'll be weird us not all hanging together. I'm going to miss everyone." I pull her in for a hug; her head rests on my left shoulder. Her coconut shampoo hits my nostrils, and I breathe her in even more.
It's cutting my heart; it's not going to be long until Lizzie meets someone who will make her feel good, who will comfort her when she's down or lonely. He'll be replacing me as her best friend. Oh. My. God. I'm drowning; I can hardly breathe; my chest hurts.
"I don't want to be away from you." She whispers and places her hand on my chest. I almost melt at the same time that my dick twitches. Again. Her touch is like a bolt of electricity passing through my entire body. I'm zinging. Man. What the fuck am I going to do?
