Aurora Blake Specktor Holden's POV
The basement was a blessing, it will hold for maybe few weeks worth of food. Glenn already offered to go on a run with Maggie the first time or whenever I can send them out. I just need to find a location, and I've already got more than a dozen people from Woodbury who are eager to start this place as a home as well.
It was working together nicely, but I need to figure out a game plan.
And doing that in the comfortable environment of the warden's office was my safest bet. Especially when the map on the wall gave an indication to the entirety of it.
Daryl threw me a marker of the desk as he knew just by a moment of me staring that I needed to write something.
"Hershel said somethin' 'bout farmin' since we've got here. Bet we can even have some pets the way ya heads goin'." I smiled and laughed as I drew a rectangle onto the whiteboard like map of the prison, erasing the given notes the dead warden put in his time in office. But since he's been removed, it's mine. His big leather chair and couch is all mine. And Daryl's.
"Haven't seen ya write this fast since were we in fuckin' high school hun, slow the fuck down. Ain't nothin' gonna change in a night." My glare over in his direction had him wave the white flag as he backed up. But then he brought over another marker, waving his hand again in clarity.
"We can make a cook out kinda thin'. Barbecue style, everybody sittin' outside. Better than bein' stuck inside." I smiled at the idea. "Can build an overhead too...I think someones getting a little cocky about hunting."
"Yeah, bet I can snag a few. Mind if I go in a few days?" I stopped mind letter as I looked to him. "You don't have to ask, I—"
"Nah I do. I see ya gettin' stressed already. But if I come back with a deer, it'll be good for a few days. Everybody will have some fresh meat, thin's get easier hun. I swear." I smile and nodded at his gesture.
"You'll help me?" I questioned, and as his hands stared at the top of my shoulders. Leading down to my hands as my smirk and his just mirrored one another as he nodded. "Course. Hell else I got to do anyhow?"
"Well congratulations Mr.Dixon, you just earned your spot on the council," I stated, going over to the desk to find some sort of pencil instead.
"Council, hell ya mean council?"
"Was thinking like five people, have veto power. Come with complaints ideas, I don't know." He let out the honest laugh at my embarrassment in not having some sort of follow up. I rendered myself to sit on the desk to look on outside.
"...Who am I kidding, we need to get those things out of our walls."
"Inside or out?" Looking to him did he know the answer, the smell just drives anybody crazy. We need to get trucks, big ones to load up any halls we can get.
Maybe me find a shopping center, get a good ten to fifteen people and hall ass home. That's something we can afford, and we certainly can raid Woodbury to the brim.
"Bet I can get some of 'em guys to start on that, just dunno how to stop the openin' in the fence. We put the bus there, think it'll waste too much room."
"Walkers can crawl under it too...Come on, we'll check the garage for—" He gripped my hand, tightly at that. Considering I was pulled back in the sense of him planting me in a steady position.
"Ya needa slow the fuck down hun. Ya've been up all night, barely been sleepin' at that. Besides, ya told everybody to relax for now, ain't nobody carin' what the place is lookin' like tonight. They're just happy they ain't dead." I nodded, allowing myself to plant my head into his chest as he gripped his arms around me. Along with placing the tip of his chin to the top of me.
"Ya gonna do fine. Rick didn't give the gun to nobody else."
"Doubt anyone would be stupid enough to take it," I mumbled into his hold, and like before he allowed himself to buckle with laughter. Last I heard Carol was going to make a few pots worth of pasta, Karen was making sure everyone was together and getting a cell number for each.
Home residence sort of thing. But her and Dixon had the same response, only she's the one who said it first. That I should slow down.
"Ya think the guy who owned this chair had a secret in here. Bet he did, big boss man." I rolled my eyes, but seeing Daryl swirl around in the chair as he so silently judged the surroundings.
"This what ya home office look like? Fuckin' thousand dollar desk?" I shook my head, but the second he took a book in his hands to open it. I began to laugh.
"No. It was second hand. And what the hell kind of book interested you so much that you—" He held it up, and already were there narcotics in it. Rolling paper and weed just stuffed into little baggies.
"Guess ya can say we found his secret, sellin' to 'em in the inside. Fuckin' smart is what I tell ya." I allowed myself to laugh as the only time I ever held weed is to weight it at the station when someone brings it in.
And although it'd break Dixon's heart, but we burn it in a special machine to get rid of the toxins. Just don't want to tell him that heart-wrenching story just yet.
"Ya feel like celebratin'?" I shook my head, instead I went back to the drawing board. Thinking of the cooking stance and how we can make that function correctly.
Gas is too valuable, coal's? Maybe set it up as under a roaring fire instead. They have them at the camp Addie went to, they were almost clay built. Bet we can find something like that, and if anything we can use cement. Doesn't have to be completely pretty.
"Ya know where boss man keeps the safe?" I shook my head and shouted a response, I know exactly where it is. It's behind this board.
"Ya didn't work here?" Looking back to him did I close the cap, and instead I took the end of the white board before me and began to pull it back. The draws come out and his entire face just lit up.
"Fuck we gotta open it."
"And what do you suppose the code might be. Dixon?" I said so sarcastically that he scoffed.
"Ain't ya the scientist."
"Right tools we can probably open it, but do you really want to play around with this, we have—" He rolled his eyes and breathed, but before he could even think. He put a single finger into the air and went back over to the desk, only to return with the bottle.
The same bottle Rick drank from when we— "Ya take a sip, ya relax a lil fuckin' bit. Then ya'll wanna open it."
"I don't think that's such a good idea Dixon I..." I didn't want to drink, considering the last time still drives me crazy. Especially when my eyes kept finding themselves to look at the couch.
"I'ma make ya go to bed then, ya need rest or else ya body is gonna start hatin' on ya." Taking the bottle and unscrewing the cap did I take the gentle gulp and hand it back to him. Batting my eyes as I looked to the bolts on the wall. It was nothing more than a few screws that blocked us from getting in. But to be honest, the man probably keeps the code somewhere.
He wasn't the smartest man, he'd forget my name half the time and I was the newbie across the god damn hall. Makes more sense now that Daryl's found his stash. "Ya feelin' the lil tingle in ya stomach yet?"
"Yes. And I already regret listening to you."
"Why?"
"Cause I just realized how tired I am." I yawned, bringing my hand over my mouth as I already felt my eyes getting weak. My glare still made the appearance though.
"So why don't ya lay down for a nap? Wake up later?"
"Because if we get the cycle going, then we'll be all set to continue," I stated, nicking my head to take the given walk to the garage. Grabbing another seat of the identical toolbox did I realize that some of the locked up items we needed.
"Man, this place looks like no fun. Lockin' up god damn screwdrivers 'cause they think they're gonna shank somebody?" He joked, fumbling to get the keys. While he was looking around grabbing what he could, I felt like I was shopping for rugs as I just analyzed which fence would work.
And I already found it.
"Aight hun, even I can't keep up with ya."
"That's because you didn't take a shot." He shook his head as he set down the toolbox. Helping me lay it out in the middle.
"I'll get Glenn, few others. They can pick 'em off in the fence, get some screamer. Set up the fence, unless ya think the two of us can manage it." I shook my head as I found myself in defeat of it, instead I gave him the small offering of a kiss on the cheek before continuing out.
"Think they'll understand if I pass out in bed?"
"Yeah, 'sepcally if ya given 'em jobs where they won't be seein' ya." I bobbed my head, his council right now is exactly why I put him on it.
Along with the fact that I asked him who else should be on it. "Ya gotta put Hershel and Glenn. I dunno 'bout Rick, might wanna ask just in case. Carol? Maggie? Michonne? Bet that Sasha girl's capable, and 'em Woodbury people know her."
"When the hell did you become so high and mighty like this." I joked, pulling out the second part of the fence door that needs to be reattached.
"I'm gonna take the job seriously hun, besides...Glad ya ain't puttin' the entire thin' on ya-self. Rick didn't know he couldn't handle it until he...Broke down. Don't wanna see that happen to ya." I nodded, bumping him in the shoulder on purpose as I set aside the other set of tools. Maybe our group can help, the kids can scream and shout. Take walkers out that are coming eve, need to clear out everything anyhow.
"Who ya want on the job?"
"Everyone on the council, don't really wanna waste bullets. Michonne too." He nodded, stumbling backwards as I was about to take the single flathead. "Ya better wait, I wanna see what's in the safe."
"You want me to come with you?" He offered his hand out as he continued to walk backward.
"Cool, can drop ya off for a nap and get goin' on the fence." I shook my head, taunting him that I'm going to stay up for as long as I can.
"Blake. It ain't safe for ya to be over workin' yaself."
"You've been up the entire time too, we should both be sleeping."
"That an invitation?" I laughed, continuing to walk with the given flathead in hand as I pointed it off in his given direction.
"Sleeping. Side by side?" I teased him further, continuing off to see both Maggie and Glenn as they were looking in the field. They too knew something needed to be done.
"How's everything inside?" I called out, and the couple looked over full few meeting us the rest of way.
"Carol and a few of the other women are putting together something to eat for everyone. Mostly everyone sleeping, or talking..." I nodded to Maggie's readiness to answer, so instead did I look over to the hole in our wall with the idealization of getting it done within the hour.
"Found some sliding doors in the garage, just need to put them on. Thinking maybe a good dozen people can get everything out and protect as it gets up." They both smiled and agreed within the minute, Glenn stated that some of the father's wanted to help and he'd get them right in Cellblock D.
While Maggie went to go look for the given members of our group to work on it.
"Guess they're on the council too."
"Yeah, but you have probable cause to be the closest one to my ear." I mocked, letting the subtle wink press him further about his offer barely a few minutes ago.
But seeing the dangling feet above did I laugh and say the given swear, and while Dixon was quick to question it. I just pointing. "Think Addie heard."
"Well, she can come and help too. Yo! Addie!" He shouted, and I just shook my head at the way he called upon my daughter.
She was quick to pull her feet up and look down from over the bars. "What's up?"
"Ya gotta second?" She claimed to be right down, and as she made her way down the stairs she took down the given walker in her way before running the rest into the gate.
She has a key.
Of course she has a key.
"Fuckin' badass is what ya kid is."
"Yeah, she pickpocketed you too. I'd say she's earned it." He took the given feel for his keys to check the gate's distinct but he claimed he still has it. Wether he's lying or not.
As she ran the given few steps towards up she repeated the question that she shouted down towards us again. "We're putting the fences back up, we need your help." She looked more than shocked, so she nodded shifting her bow over into her hands.
"I can shoot from up high. Won't be in anyone's way. I promise. I just...Don't wanna be the distraction anymore." I nodded in response to that, just making sure she understands that
As the given group was coming to the scene, as was Rick and Carl. And a few new faces did I realize what I was asking the people only a good hour or two of settling in. So when they bunched up, I felt the need to begin with an apology.
"...Before we can make this place home, we need to start off with getting rid of what's in our backyard. The need for farming is extremely high and the sooner we get to that, the sooner we have a little sustainable income in vegetables and so forth." The nods came back out, and I ordered more of the buffer men to get hold of the fence one of which claimed to have a similar type of fense so he'd be the actual person to be putting them back.
While the rest of us continued to draw out the walkers from both the inside perimeter and the outside. Minding the given archer in the tower did people keep their distance, and only when she couldn't reach anymore, did she make her way downstairs.
It was the quick blows and the given dozens of bodies that made this feel like a complete turnaround. We can to the facility and I was barely holding onto my own thoughts, we had people from Atlanta. I didn't have Addie, but we had Lori.
She'd be proud of the turn around, for Rick stepping down like he had.
As Nick finished the fence, we cheered in victory in containing our land once again. And while the given few offered to take out the bodies, I was stumped to wonder why they were so invested so quickly.
"We can find more people ma'am. Don't just have to be us." I smiled and nodded as they conversed with themselves for a bit, but with Daryl beside me he just whispered 'ma'am?' and scoffed along side the idea.
He's called me it before in a sarcastic way as well, so I don't understand his sudden idealism about that. "Maybe Hershel can point us in some placing to get going on the farming? It'd take a while to collect everything anyway." Glenn stated, and I nodded along for him and Maggie to go on and ask. Leaving still a bunch of people to look for what to do.
"We still have walkers in the prison itself, don't want to have people sleeping in locked cell blocks so we should—"
"I'll go," Michonne stated, and Addie volunteered as well. And although I was hesitant, the women vowed to protect her.
"Tomorrow. I'm gonna go look for the governor." She whispered, walking off with my daughter right beside her. They looked like they started a conversation already. And while they managed to get the few dozen arrows, Daryl scouted around to see that there was still more to collect.
"Ya weren't kiddin' when ya said she's deadly with that thin'." I hummed, looking around, and taking the giant leaps forward.
"This is insane." My rambles continues, and with that Daryl took my hand and lead me back towards the prison.
"Just take a two-hour nap, please? Ya got people doin' stuff. Ya'll probably dream 'bout it anyhow. Just lay down and rest." Whipping my forehead clean of blood did I stop him real quick. Looking to the small little leading body of water that sort of made a mote around the given side of the prison. "I'll sleep happy if we get some water."
"T-Dog said somethin' 'bout connectin' a pip to that thin' of water over that way. I'll ask 'round, while ya lay down. I'll wake ya up in two hours. Promise." I nodded, and although he wanted to walk with me. I shooed him off for the first time in a while. Walking back into the cell block was I greeted by our group members, Karen talking something over with Sasha.
"Everybody seems to be getting settled in, Carol's preparing the food and we have more volunteers for that run for farming—"
"It's gonna be a lot of heavy lifting and bulks, you need to bring a truck." Hershel stopped Sasha from continuing any further.
So they planned it before me and I silently agreed before dismissing myself, I told Hershel that I was going to lay down. And his only response was 'Finally,' as he directed me to my room up the stairs and straight into bed.
Barely got my shoes off as my eyes began to...To shut...
*
It's been about two weeks now, Daryl went hunting just a few days ago. And Michonne left to go see any leads on the governor, on a side of that I asked if she can scout out Woodbury. See if anything valuable was left behind in terms of medicine and food.
So it's that word along with whatever Daryl manages to hunt down in the surrounding woods. I didn't allow Addie to go this time around and she understood why without having to explain it, it was more Daryl that I had to render down because he was...Actually excited for her to join him.
I promised in the given time considering it was his offering bet that is allowing her to go. And in the promotion of getting the best cut on the deer at that.
All in all, we have our work cut out for us all.
I am currently walking through the halls with a notebook and pencil in hand jotting down notes as I am going around and trying to get to learn everyone's names along with what they think we should do. Their opinions matter.
And the biggest one I'm hoping to set is that the kids are sort of scared when it comes to the dark, so what I'm thinking. And I'm clearly taking this out to what I did in Addie's room when she was little.
We get a bunch of those glow in the dark wall stars or stickers, whatever the hell they're called.
No batteries or anything, and it'd be easier to light the hallways. We just need a shit ton.
So that was the big-ticket item at the moment, just wish there was a dollar store closer. And not all the way close to king's county again.
"Morning Blake." A voice called, and I mindlessly said a returning greeting until I was a few paces away and looked back. "Sorry...I didn't—"
"It's alright, no need to apologize. Just wanted to see how things are doing." I chuckled holding up my book.
Haven't really spoken to him since he's refused the offer to take a chair at the council's table. He claimed to want to act like a normal person from now on.
"Wish they'd come back soon. This worrying is driving me insane." I mumbled, closing my notebook and bringing it to my chest.
"Where you off to?" Changing the subject was one of the key points I've been using all day. Been up for a little with the baby and considering I pretty much pass out at the administrator's desk every night it seems rather inviting to know he's out and about.
"Hershel...Hershel wanted to talk." I smiled, he did mention something about wanting Rick to help him with the farming. Better to keep his mind occupied rather than struggling to find his place. Besides, he wanted to be the working man.
"I won't hold you...You're looking much better, grey hairs are still peeking through." I joked, pointing up to both his beard and the top of his head. And as his hand went in the instant to grab it to the insulting mood of calling him old did he just give me a firm look. "Won't be too funny when you get the few of them too."
"I have a teenage daughter. That's going to happen anyway." Continuing the ideal did I just walk forward towards him as we continued through the halls.
The greetings never ceased and I managed to call people by their names as well. It's a learning curve at best.
"Are you going to tell him soon?"
"Don't know..." I whispered, and that had him stop. Right in the middle of the courtyard at that. Although the waves from every given direction were a good distract from Rick's further questions I didn't want to risk anyone hearing.
That's what we need. Gossip. About me.
"We're still getting over Merle. Addie hasn't taken off the vest since he gave it to her...This isn't the time."
"I'll help you if—" I shook my head, pointing off to Hershel as he was waiting in the blooming field of ours. Glenn managed to come back with some already potted plants, we did send the farmers daughter with him so it was a blessing in disguise when she claimed it was a bigger surprise.
Everything from tomatoes to spices. Something that Carol suggested to add to the mix. Although the cooking station is going to take a little while longer, people are optimistic. Along with those who are chasing the pigs around when we send them on runs.
"The longer you wait, the harder it's going to be..."
"If you...If you were in his shoes. How mad would you be?" I asked, looking for the honest awnser considering I couldn't make direct eye contact with him. Even if I tried did my eyes shut in complete embarrassment.
"I—I...I don't know." I gestured my head as I rested the case presented by me. In any manner it would be it. Especially considering he couldn't even begin to think of the hypothetical. "I'd understand."
"I deprived him the chance to be a father...I deprived Addie of having one. It's nothing I can see myself doing anytime soon Rick. Not now." He nodded, suggesting that when things slow down I should make it my first priority. And as he cautiously walked through the crowd and finding his way into the empty field, did Karen make her way to me. Smock on and ready to get rid of the walkers pilling up on the fence. "Didn't see you in your cell last night."
"Was in the administrative office." She hummed as she gently followed her step through and through. Taunting me as ever.
"Can't sleep in there without—"
"Him? Figured...Anyway, some of the parents are trying to find things for the kids to do. Since the library is cracked open most of them are in there, but there's no lights." I thought long and hard, maybe we can move the entirety of it? No natural light is difficult, especially that deep into the prison.
"Maybe we can find those little battery string lights one day."
"Hmm, Glenn wants to go on another run today." I rolled my eyes, he's dedicated through and through. And as I discussed my interest in wanting to go, she pushed me to do just that.
"What? No. I can't leave Addie."
"Of course, it's a few hours. Besides you'd be holding the list."
"Glenn has his plan and—" Karen shouted out towards Glenn and he took the gentle jog over towards us with a smile on his face.
"What's up?" He greeted, and my shooting glare commenced as she simply spoke of the plan. "It'd be so much easier Blake, please."
"If I go, we might be taking the entire store." He nodded, but then pleaded that me going would have more volunteers. And that means the big truck wouldn't be that difficult to fill.
"I'll spread the word." I groaned into my hand as I handed off my book to her, but she just stumbled back considering she's infested with walker blood. "I could've gotten you a better job."
"I think me looking like your advisor is good advisor enough." We shared the honest laugh as she poked her weapon down to the ground in honest.
"Someone has their eyes caught on you." I mocked, in all due payback considering she wont get off on my case about Dixon. She doesn't even know the half of the story, but she squeals and giggles like a school girl whenever it happens.
"We'll play nice, I don't like coworkers fighting." I so happily hinted, and while she swore and told me he was out on runs. I simply offered the book to show her that he's changed jobs.
To be closer to her.
"No. Stop."
"It's good to have close company. Take your own advice and live a little!" I shouted, pushing her into his direction as I went to go pack my bag. Not wanting to bring the solid mast planner, I jotted everything down onto another piece of paper. More so dividing it into sections. But some areas we just clear out entirely.
Feminine and hygiene are usually Sasha and Maggie's targets. Glenn stuffs his boxes full of meds. And the rest are necessities. Clothes, food. All things handy.
Today's run is closer to home. About twenty minutes away, a friendly reminder this is where Merle picked us all up to head towards the dreadful town. And it was a full circle considering I came for this particular one.
"Mama?" Addie whispered out, tying my shoes all the bit tighter considering I changed outfits entirely did I frown as I know what this will mean. "I was just going to find you."
"You're going out?" Offering out my hand did she come forward, and although I intended it to go to her cheek did she interlock her own hand within mine.
She's acting far more mature than I would've counted for, guess taking the princess card makes her weary of it all. "We have twenty people on the job hun, we'll be alright."
"When's Daryl coming back?" Was her first question, he was more than upset that I didn't allow her to go but he sucked it up and ventured into the woods.
Could't tell if he was steaming or not, instead I found myself insanely unassertive and asked if she wanted anything. "Can...Can you get me a bra? Mine don't...Fit anymore."
"Of course sweetie, think you need a new hairbrush too." She nodded, so I added that to a smaller list to look out for as a priority.
She's growing up and I'm slightly worried that she'll be—
"Blake? Everyone's ready downstairs." Sasha politely knocked but I can understand everyone's want in going. So finishing to strap my holster around my waist did I find myself taking the backpack from Addie who offered it on up.
"You think he's coming back soon though... Right?"
"He gets pretty serious when he's hunting, loses track of time. Or maybe he's far away." I offered, and she nodded along whilst following me down the stairs and onto the given courtyard.
We were armed to the teeth, and although people are boasting the assault rifles in hand. I always urge them to use their knives rather than to shoot first. Don't want to get closed in on a herd.
"Alright, listen up! Team A, you're with Glenn. Team B, you're with me..." Following along Sasha's orders was inviting, I get what Rick means. For the first time in a while I'm listening to someone. And while Daryl's advice isn't exactly here right now, it's easier to focus when my mind's in someone else's hands.
"Guess I'll go wherever you want me, boss." I joked, but Glenn took claim of me right away. So off I was in the truck, we road with it open as we hurried along. The people at the fence made it easy to come in and out. But my loud smirk was visible to Karen who was all gooey eyes towards Tyreese.
What more can I say than that?
The ride was fairly short considering I was analyzing the list over and over again, so while everyone went off to their group. My position was simple, check on every and count inventory I guess.
When we come back it's usually a hassle, some people ask for stuff and then when we come back we've already given it to someone else who wanted it then and there. It's not a system I'm proud of but it's what we have so far until we can find a commissary sort of vibe and stock than we're stuck with this for now.
The bins were already pilling up as I walked in front of the given apothecary we searched in before, walking in and taking a look around did I see that the shelves were almost bear considering our people are using the shopping carts to plow through it all.
Although some were dallying around, it was fine considering I too looked at the glasses.
I need a pair considering it's difficult to read without one, so I take the first black pair I find and stuff it into my backpack.
Moving straight along to the pharmacy in the back, it was locked and there wasn't much time to continue through it. And while Maggie clapped in excitement in finding more baby formula, I just helped Glenn stack the giant pill bottles onto the counter for Mark to put into the growing bins.
"The rate we're going, we might need two trips boss." He offered, and maybe he's right. We need two trips.
"Then that's what we have to do, just no passing out until we all get back," Mark claimed to pass the word off to Sasha sees her. Or to Peter, either or.
"How does it feel to be out of the prison." I chuckled as I continued to move at a fast pace, we have a lot of medication and I rather have access to it all and not need it. Than to need it and not have it, so it was the constant motion of placing and packing away.
"Like a breath of fresh air." And that's when his smile widened ever so loudly, making it mirror onto my own.
"You should come more often then, get out a little once and a while." I let out an unsettling groan as this might look like a regular thing, but my mind is completely wired to the people back at home.
"I think you just get a little relief if I come with." Was my only reply, and he nodded and claimed he and the others did feel the sense of safety with me here. Shockingly enough I couldn't take that in a negative way, just bummed that I can't be everywhere at once.
It'd be easier that way.
As the store and the back were stripped of everything useful, we moved on to the next store. More or less clothing and it's one of those shops where we take everything as well, just not the stylish skirts or crap like that.
Instead I went to look for a bra for my daughter, should've asked what size she was, but taking the given B cups did I continue further to see a sports bra. Considering it comes in three sizes of small, medium and large. There isn't anything wrong with either. So I continued with everything in my pack as well.
"Boss, should we send the truck home? There's still a lot we can find here." Looking to the groups that were awaiting my orders did I look to Sasha, the one who was internally asking for advice. "How many stores did we take from."
"This one, the apothecary and barely hit the grocery store before we started getting full." I shook my head, we need that food. And us going on a run tomorrow isn't a reasonable approach.
We're out, might as well continue.
"Send the truck back, have them unload in the garage. See if Brendan fixed the second one, might send two trucks back. I want this place stripped clean to be honest, don't want to keep coming to the same place." She smiled and nodded, and as we walked in tangent towards the people. She spoke. Loud and clear at the reasonable crowd who didn't have a problem with continuing for today.
Team A is the one who is returning home, while the rest are piling everything up in the front so we can be ready to load and leave once they come back.
"...Feels good huh?" I look behind me, seeing Glenn basking in the sun's light as he tilted his head back.
"Hmm, it's still quite out here." Was all I issued, feeling my arms grow tired did I put back my machete after having to kill one that was stuck in the alleyway. "He'll come back soon." He mumbled, and my glaring commenced right when I realized what he was talking about.
"It's only been—"
"4 days I know...I know." I groaned, leaning back against the wall for a quick second to see the hustle and bustle moving around. I felt externally tired, not to mention my body ached.
"You dated him before, he didn't go hunting back then?" I chuckled, now basking in the sunlight as well as I remember when he told me he was going on a trip.
"Yeah, he did. But before we knew each other he called it 'family mater,' that lasted three weeks." His jaw dropped as he started rambling on about how he passed school or anything.
"Daryl? Caring about school?... The only reason he went was because of his friends."
"And you." I nodded, not wanting to sound that self-centered but yes, I've heard on multiple accounts that he made the effort into coming to school because of me.
"But you were smart."
"Were?" I mocked, and it was the complete turn around from back on the highway, when he thought that just because I'm a women, I wouldn't know a thing about cars.
And he's right, I don't know a whole lot. But the given few I excel at. "You okay? It's been awhile since we talked."
"Yeah, it's been a lot to handle. But I shouldn't be complaining." I shook my head at that, he's allowed to. This move is stressful on everyone, especially to the people who date back since the farm. It's the adjustment, the Woodbury people are more familiar with them all around.
"How long until things will feel right?" He asked, peering over in my direction, but then we both followed in the sight of the two trucks return along with the van. Sasha's smart, I give her that.
