Chapter 40
I watched as the Avatar came back only to shortly depart with his friends back on his bison,
"What in the world was going on?"
The Firelord must have not been in his palace, great now the mission is going to be even harder. What if something happened to Zuko? No I don't need to worry about him.
I tried not to become distracted again as waves of fire lashed around me. My hands moved as fast as they could to counter the flames. I was constantly looking up to see how close the eclipse was to starting.
With each second my thoughts grew more flustered,
"What if Zuko gets hurt during the eclipse? What if his father did something to him?"
God what's wrong with me? I'm in the middle of a battle I need to focus.
~
I could feel the power fade from my hands as the eclipse began. My body almost felt numb without my bending. Darkness spread across the battlefield as the sun grew covered by the moon. Our troops marched closer and closer to the capital city, my city.
I spent so long rooming the same streets I was now helping to invade. Funny how destiny works.
I knew I wasn't going to be much help fighting now, not while I was like this. I just needed to hope that the Avatar would confront Firelord Ozai quickly. I went back from the front lines.
I tried not to get in the way of the tanks and earthbenders who could still fight.
Suddenly my eye caught something,
Several years earlier.
"Zuko... I've been thinking what if the capital city is invaded? I know the Firenation is the strongest nation in the world but... Ba Sing Sa is still alive. The Earth kingdom must be strong too right?"
"(Y/N) you worry too much. Has Azula been getting to you?"
"No! I'm just concerned for your safety since your the prince. Besides I wouldn't let anyone get near you! Since you've been training me my bending is getting stronger. "
"(Y/N) Azula is a bigger threat than the whole Earth Kingdom. I'll be fine. Don't worry okay?"
Why is his voice ringing in my head? Why do I see nothing but his eyes? Dammit (Y/N) focus.
I watched the battle from afar as the eclipse continued.
Suddenly it hit me, where did Fai go?
I hadn't seen him since this morning. I didn't remember checking for him recently since we were in a rush. I think he got on the boats but I memories are blurry.
Great... that idiot probably escaped in to who the hell knows where. But then wouldn't Toph sense him? Whatever I don't care what happened to that idiot.
Speaking of idiots, where exactly was Zuko?
I looked up as I felt heat reaching back into my hands. The moon drifted away from the sun. I looked to our forces, we hadn't gotten far enough.
"Dammit.."
The sky grew full with Firenation air balloons and ships rushing toward us.
I watched as the Avatar and his friends went after the balloons trying to slash as many down as possible.
"Wait... aren't I supposed to be in their gang now? Why am I getting excluded from whatever the hell they've been doing all day?"
Whatever man... I guess this is my time to prove myself.
I strayed away from the group running as fast as I could. I knew if I could get somewhere high I might ve able to shoot fire up that far. Luckily I was still wearing my Firenation outfit and knew my way around the capital. The farther you went from the capital's center the houses grew more sparse and the greenery grew more prominent.
My childhood house was around this area, before I basically spent all my time in the palace.
Up a tree would probably be quickest way to get high ground since on top of a house would be too risky. Also the trees would give me cover. Okay, it's not a good plan but I don't know what else to do exactly.
I rushed into the landscape on the outskirts of the Firenation capital making sure that I wasn't being followed.
I began to notice the lack of trees. Was my memory tricking me?
"I could have sworn there were trees around here when I was growing up. Was I just imagining that? Why can't I think straight!"
All I could picture was Zuko, all I could think about was him.
My eyes moved to the sky, the balloons are getting away too fast. If I can't make it to some sort of highground I won't be able to hit them. Gosh I'm an idiot! Why did I stray away from the group?
Okay okay, I reevaluated my situation, so there are apparently no trees anymore but the terrain is rocky maybe I could use that instead. I just need to focus my bending.
"Well I was wondering when you'd show up. I was going to come get you... find a way to coex you away from the rest of the group.. but here we are alone."
I turned around, my ears curling at the all to familiar voice, Fai. I thought I would never need to hear that voice again.
"Oh not you again! I thought I was done with you. How the hell did you even get out? What are you gonna do this time huh? Is another dramatic monologue in order...?"
"You ruined everything (Y/N) don't forget that."
"What are you even talking about? Could you just leave me alone, I'm kinda busy here." I spat back taking a bending stance, "I'm stronger than you do you really want another rematch?." A smirk grew on his face.
"I know you are, but you're not stronger then an entire army. I'm going to start screaming until the Firenation soildiers hear me. I'll just pretend I found you, a traitor, walking alone out here. It wasn't my ideal plan but I don't care anymore. I want you to suffer any way I know how."
"But... you don't even like the Firenation! Why would you want them to capture me? Do you forget what they've done to you? Do you even hear yourself?"
"You're right I don't... I served them for years and I still don't care I hate you more. Do you know what happens to traitors (Y/N)? Lets just say your little face isn't going to be so pretty anymore. They still see me as a Yuyan... I can make them trust me... but they'll never forgive you. Your Zuko isn't here to protect you now... I'm getting my revenge... that's all I want anymore." His once kind eyes lost all their glow, to think I once trusted this monster.
"Fai please... is that really what Daiyu would have wanted? I'm sorry I lied to you.. I'm sorry I used you. I know it sounds stupid but you have shown me one thing, that I have the power to change, to be my own person. So thanks I guess but... I have to help someone else right now." My voice grew weary as I tried to reason with him.
"Your time is up (Y/N), I'm sick of waiting. GUARDS GUARDS THE TRAITORS HERE! (Y/N) IS HERE. SHE'S AWAY FROM THE REST OF THEM." Fai screamed frustration mounting in his voice.
I quickly covered his mouth hoping no one heard. With the distraction of Fai I didn't even really notice a Firenation air balloon rush towards me. It was oddly low to the ground, I suppose it heard Fai and is coming to capture me. Wait why would they send a air balloon to capture one person when- wait no it couldn't be. I saw flowing raven hair flowing past a handsome face,
"ZUKO!!"
~ Zuko's pov
I saw her, her eyes glowing in the wind. I couldn't get Uncle but I can't leave without her. I won't let her go again.
I didn't have much time until the Avatar was to far away to follow so I landed my hot air balloon as quickly as possible,
"(Y/N)!"
She rushed towards me and slapped me across the face,
"First of all I'm still mad at you. Second of all why the hell aren't you in the palace?'
"(Y/N)... I'm good now... please believe me. I left my father and I'm going to join the Avatar. Please just come with me."
"GUARDS GUARDS THE PRINCE IS OVER HERE TOO. Why won't anyone listen to me?" Fai shouted angrily. His eyes were cruel and cold... almost like my father's. He was a broken man. "Fine I'll just have to get you myself."
"Not a chance buddy!" (Y/N) shot fire at him and grabbed my hand, "so what's the plan?"
"We're following the Avatar's bison to join him. We don't have much time. Just trust me okay?
"Zuko... I... I'll come with you. I missed you so much." Her voice felt like heaven in my ears. I missed her more then anything. I embraced her tightly in my arms. An awkward blush grew on my face.
" I umm....I missed you too. But weren't you allies with Fai now? Isn't that why you left?"
"Yeah I was but not anymore... seems like we both have some explaining to do on the hot air balloon."
We both ran to the balloon and took off souring through the sky and towards the Avatar. Fai grew increasingly smaller as we flew higher.
I saw (Y/N) smiling, I missed that smile so much. I may have made a lot of mistakes but seeing her smile was worth it.
We passed a sea of white clouds painted amidst the blue sky. A flurry of embers in the middle of the air balloon powered us toward the Avatar.
"I umm... I like what you did with your hair."
"Oh thanks I like your new outfit..." she blushed back.
"Sorry I'm just a bit nervous. I didn't think everything would happen so quickly. I know I'm making the right choice but... it all just feels so unreal."
She reached her hand over to me and touched my scar. Her palm felt soft against the roughness of my skin,
You made the right choice Zuko."
And now this XD
"Sokka where's (Y/N)? Weren't you supposed to keep an eye on her?" Aang questioned.
"Well... it appears I may have misplaced her... she's... she's probably fine. "
"You better hope she is! Where are we supposed to find a firebender now?" Toph snapped.
Okay honestly I kinda got stuck in the middle of this chapter so that's why the plots a bit shaky. Originally I was going to have (Y/N) go with the gaang at the end but then it wouldn't make any since why they would need a firebending teacher in the next episode. So basically just go with it man. XD
For y'all who are like, "where in the world did (Y/N) go to when she was looking for trees exactly??"
She went from the invasion into the capital to to green parts still on the inside of the capital
I know some parts of this chapter are a bit of a stretch but just go with it man because I'm tired XD

So for y'all who are not aware I'm a theatre geek. I discovered a new musical called, "Vanara" and it's almost freaky how good "How do I open his eyes?" fits (Y/N) so I put it at the top, also this one fits Fai kind of..
