I stare down at the young wolf and suddenly feel a rush of pity. I move it to the deepest part of my cave to a soft bed of leaves that I have for my bed. As I place down the wolf another sound of howling made me break away from the wolf. I slowly step towards the cave opening. I stare outside the cave motionless as another pair of glimmering eyes appear at the corner of my vision. A growl of another wolf echoed throughout the cave. Fast and swift I kick out with my heavy leather boots until they connected with something soft. Silence...then a squeal of terror and the wolf now just outside the cave entrance spun around and as quick as a flash sped through the steep rocks of the mountain. I puff as the energy that was surging through me vanished and I flopped down onto my bed that I made out of sheeps wool and wood collected from the outskirts of the mangrove woods.
---------------------------------------------

The sun rose high above the green valley. Grass shimmering with drops of rain from the raging storm last night. I realise after a few moments that there was a whimper from deep inside the cave. Then u remember the wolf.

"It's awake." I spoke to myself.

I pad towards it and see scarlet drops running down a deep scratch on its backside. Grabbing on an old piece of cloth from the floor where I keep my belongings, I dab it gently on the wolf and keep it there until the bleeding stopped. To my surprise, it had worked because often a deep wound like what it was doesn't usually stop. I fold the cloth and place it on the wound and leave it there. Gripping my blades and putting them back in their sheathes, I walk towards the cave opening. Once more, I gaze down at the old ash of ruin to see more flickering lights across the shadows of what used to be an old barn house. Then one by one, the lights die out and shadows stream across the valley towards a vast forest. Suspicion surged through me as I realise that they must be The Hunters. That's when I realise. Beyond the darkness of the forest, there were way more flickering lights all heading towards the Rocky Mountains. That's when I decide that it's too much of a risk to stay. I grab a large bag made of wool and stuff all my belongings in and grab the wolf and set it gently on top. I set off into the wilderness, cold, lost, empty...
