Chapter 2
Will tried to stop the raging crowd, but it was no use. The crowd thought I brought the clouds. But I didn't. The raging crowd led me down the path through the village. I knew where they were going. They were leading me to the Ghost Woods. I saw something weird on my way. It was a man in a white shirt and blue pants. He had metals pinned to his shirt. His black boots were shiny. He was smiling at me. We was translucent. He was a ghost.
There were ghosts on this island. I couldn't believe my eyes. The ghost man came closer. Only I could see him. "I'm Oliver," he whispered, "and be careful of Isabel." I was the only one who could hear him. He disappeared. The crowd stopped at a building and shoved clothes in my arms. "Put the clothes on," they demanded. I did it. It was an old white shirt and torn black pants. They took my shoes too. As soon as I was dressed, they dragged me down the road again. I didn't see Will or anybody I knew. My body started to hurt from all the dragging. They stopped at the edge of town. "Get the one," the towns people cried. A man came out of the crowd. He was wearing a black shirt, black pants, black shoes, and a black jacket. He pulled out a black marker. "Let the wizard live in the woods and let everybody know who he is!" he yelled. He grabbed my arm and wrote wizard in big black letters.
And the dragging went on. My arm was hurting a bit from how hard the man pushed on my skin with the marker. The people were mean. They didn't even give me a chance to speak. They all just assumed I was a wizard. The rain started. "He's trying to get free!" yelled somebody. Three men came up with spears in their hands. They took this very seriously. It seemed well rehearsed too. I wanted to see my family and friends. I wanted to explain myself. I knew this was how that girl felt. I closed my eyes, hoping this was a nightmare. It wasn't.
Suddenly, the rain started pouring. The men didn't stop. They were determined. We were out of town by now and getting closer to the woods. We were going towards a river too. When we got there, we stopped. They held me up right. "My dear towns people," said the mayor, "Let this wizard leave us." "Get rid of him!" they screamed as the rain poured harder. Lighting struck and thunder boomed. The mayor turned to me. "Why did you down here?" he asked. "I was here for the awards for the bike tournament. I was the winner," I replied. "Let this biking wizard never bike or race again!" the mayor yelled to the crowd. The men tied ropes around my hands and feet. "So long wizard," said the mayor. And they tossed me into the river.
