Chapter 3

Sebastian had sat me down and brought in some tea upon sensing my upset aura. "Tell me exactly what happened that night."
I sipped the tea carefully before I started. "M-My mother was in a hospital near Ludlow. She had been there for a few months while I stayed with our neighbors. She had come down with a terrible illness, which made it almost impossible to see her... but when I did see her, she would always tell me about a man.It was always the same man, but she had different tales of what he did, and who he was... With ragged breaths, she told me that the man in the stories was my father. She started ceasing right in front of me, so the doctors pushed me out of the way. The nurses tried to pull me out of the room, but my demon powers kept them away from me... At the time, I thought that I was helping my mother by fighting off the doctors, but...." I sniffed but wiped my nose on the back of my dress sleeve, causing Sebastian to recoil just a bit. "I-I didn't realize that... I was r-really hurting her... The darkness surrounded her chest as... I tried to keep her heart beating..." tears fell from my cheeks as I held back sobs. "B-but it was really.... Causing it to stop!"
Sebastian watched in silence as I sobbed into my hands. I only looked up when I hard him move, and my eyes widened at the sight. Sebastian wrapped his arms around me, trying to comfort me. "I...I'm sorry... that you had to endure something like that at such a young age... and that I was not there for you and your mother..."
I looked up towards the ceiling, not being able to see his face. "S-So... you believe me?"
Sebastian pulled back and nodded. "Yes. I am sorry that I did not realize it before..." I couldn't help but smile as Sebastian took my tiny hand in his. "But now... I will never leave you." I grinned and my father helped me stand up. "Now. Let's get you cleaned up before the young master comes home."
We both walked down to the bathroom, and Sebastian helped me wash my face. Afterwards, Ciel and the others arrived home, so we went into the foyer to meet them. Ciel frowned with his arms crossed as he entered the manor. "Remind me never again to go outside of the manor."
Sebastian chuckled. "What ever could have happened to make you say that?"
"I now have to come up with a haunted house for the orphans before tomorrow."
I could practically feel the annoyance radiating off of my father. "I guess I should get started. (F/n), would you like to help me?"
My eyes widened and Ciel's eyebrows rose. Even so, I nodded quickly and took his hand. Ciel still had paperwork to go over, so the servants and I went to the kitchen to get a plan started. Sebastian sat me on the counter and stood to my left while the others stood in front of us. Mai-rin, Finny, and Bardroy were talking to each other before they each gave a suggestion to Sebastian.
"Zombies in the foyer?"
"A ghost mystery!"
"A fake bomb raid."
I raised my tiny hand into the air. Everyone turned to me. "What is it, (F/n)?" Sebastian asked.
"Um... what is a haunted house?" I asked.
Sebastian smiled. "A haunted house is a place filled with things that people are scared of and they try to walk through it and not get scared."
I tilted my head. "They actually want to get scared?"
Everyone nodded. I shrugged as the servants went back to giving suggestions. I twisted my hands in my lap, a little nervous. 'I hope I don't have to be here for this...'

The day for preparing came and went with a lot of carrying boxes. There were cardboard boxes of all different sizes, but I didn't see what was in any of them because I went to bed before they actually started setting up. Everything was covered up so that it would be a complete surprise to the children who were on their way. Ciel and the servants stood in the foyer in some sort of costumes. Mai-rin looked like an undead bride with Finny as her groom, and Bardroy had on some sort of big colorful pants. I couldn't tell what he was suppose to be. Sebastian was dressed in a long black robe, and Ciel, ironically, was dressed up as a cartoon demon.
As for me, I was dressed as a tiny with fangs. Ciel turned to Sebastian. "Are you going to lead the children in?"
Sebastian's face dropped. "I assumed that you were going to, young master."
Ciel groaned. "I have to help out in the garden with the effects."
Finny pointed at me. "(F/n) Can do it!"
They all turned to me. "Are you up for it, (F/n)?" Sebastian asked.
'I have to be strong for my father.' I nodded nervously. "I-I can do it..."
Ciel told me where to lead the children and then sent me out front to retrieve the Orphans. As they all showed up, I grew more and more nervous. I had never really like being scared, and I wasn't sure how scary the manor was going to be.
I got all of the children to be quiet and grinned. "Welcome to the Phantomhive haunted house!"
The doors to the manor opened on their own and I led the children inside. The manor was very dark as the doors slammed closed. I looked around the children as a few candles flickered on. Finny and Mai-rin walked in from the side doors, moaning. A few of the boys laughed, but some of the girls gave scared cries and huddled together. I shivered a little, but continued to lead the children through the fake spiderweb covered manor. As we made it to the kitchen, Bardroy suddenly appeared in the kitchen doorway. He now had on a white mask with red make-up in some spots. My heart practically stopped. I was scared out of my mind. All of the children followed me, running out of the manor and into the garden. I stood off to the side, trying to catch my breath.
There was a heavy fog that rolled into the garden, causing the children to all huddle together. I walked back towards the group, shaking as I did my best to lead them through the now black roses. Suddenly, a tall person in a long black robe landed in front of me and the group. It's head was facing down but slowly looked up, revealing a . It grinned and laughed. "I hope you all are ready for a good FRIGHT!!" He shouted. Red lights flashed behind him as skeletons appeared around the group. I was staring in terror at the man in front of me. He was staring at the kids behind me as he rolled his eyes back into his head and started to float.
I covered my ears from the laughter and screams of the children and started running away. The children thought nothing of it as I covered my tear stained face, running through the garden and into the forest. "(F/n)?" I heard someone call. I quickly ducked behind a bush in the forest and quieted my labored breathing. I looked through the bush to find that same creature that was in the garden looking around for me. I did my best to stifle the sob that came out of my mouth, but I couldn't contain it. The creature turned and looked right at me through the bush. I closed my eyes and screamed as loud as I could. "DADDY!!!"
I heard steps hurrying across the crunching leaves. "(F/n)!"
I lifted my blurry eyes, hearing the sound of my father's voice. I scrambled to my feet and ran towards him with outstretched arms. "DADDY!" I cried again before grabbing his legs.
He wrapped his arms around me to keep me from stumbling. I sobbed into his tailcoat as he picked me up and held me against his chest. "It's alright. It was just a costume, you're alright." he said softly.
I buried my face into his tailcoat, trying to block out the images of the horrifying creatures as Sebastian swayed back and forth to comfort me. Sebastian walked back to the manor with me still pressed to his chest. The servants passed out candy bags to the orphans as they all gathered back into their carriages, practically squealing from the excitement. Ciel must have approached Sebastian with a bored look on his face. "What happened?"
Sebastian's arms shifted a little around me. "My apologies, young master. It seems that (F/n) has never seen a haunted house before."
The words alone brought back the images of the horror so I pressed my face further into his chest. The vibrations from his deep voice through his chest calmed me down a little. "I shall take her back to her room until she has calmed down."
Ciel spun on his heel. "Hurry to my room afterwards. I hate having to look like you." He jokingly spat.
Sebastian chuckled. "Do I really look like that?"
Ciel smirked, but didn't turn around. "Only when you're angry."

(This chapter is a bit of a halloween special, but is still part of the story!!)
