HER EYES SLOWLY OPENED as she lifted up, looking around her room. It was 1Am according to the clock and she felt herself slowly remembering everything that happened the night before.
Her mom. She needed to talk to her. She needed closure, she needed something. Because she knew in the morning she would not be able to face her.
Her bed lightly creaked as she opened the door to her room. Her head poked into her dads bedroom, only to see her mom not there. She realized her suitcase were gone, and her heart had never dropped so hard then now.
Teddy immediately hurried down the stairs, her soft footsteps against the hard wood floors were heard as she swung her head in different directions to find her.
"Mom."
"Teddy," her dad inhaled seeing her walk into the kitchen. It was around midnight, and her mom hadn't been been home that whole day. That whole week, really. She narrowed her eyebrows, seeing them all sat down at the island before noticing the women who stood infront of them on the other side. "What's going on?"
"Your mom has something she needs to tell you." Trey shook his head, "Don't bring Teddy into this— go back to bed." Her twin demanded. A rough slam was heard against the table, making Teddy jump in shock, "Damnit— tell her." Sam pointed at the girl harshly, her mother hiccuping harshly before turning her head to look at her daughter.
"I'm not sober anymore, baby." Those words sent shivers down her body as she looked back at her dad, then her mom. This was real.
She begun shaking her head quickly, stepping backwards when her mom went to touch her, "You told me you wouldn't. You told me you were okay!" Teddy pushed her away, tears falling from her face, slapping her hand away from her.
At the touch, Trey quickly got up from his seat, stepping slightly infront of Teddy, holding her by the wrist, "Your a liar— get off of me!" Teddy pushed him backwards, making him stumble. She was angry.
"I'm sorry." Beatrice pleaded, shrugging her shoulders slightly. "You don't care do you? You don't care how your fucking killing dad with how much money you take from him for your drugs?" Beatrice's whole face dropped at her words, "Yeah. We know about that. That's why you stole? I'm not doing this." Teddy shook them off, walking away before she was grabbed.
"I tried! I tried to get better for you." Beatrice yelled, squeezing her wrist in a harsh manner, "Well obviously you didn't. Are you high, right now? Stop fucking touching me!" Teddy pushed her hand back, Beatrice smacking her shoulder in return. Teddy stumbled back before charging forward as she pushed her with more force, "Hey!" Sam yelled, running to get in between them.
A loud slap was heard as Teddy fell back into her twins arms, holding her face in pain. Her whole body was shaking and Trey didn't know what else to do but stand in front of her.
"Get the fuck out!" Sam yelled, pushing the women backwards whilst she pointed at him. "Fuck you! Fuck you!" She screamed, "Fuck all of you!"
Teddy's mouth was on the ground, she couldn't even cry. All she could do was stare. She begun dissociating herself. Trey noticed this, tears in his own eyes but his main priority was his sister, rubbing and holding her in his arms. He couldn't bare it. But, he had to be there.
Beatrice began punching and kicking the wall that Sam had her placed infront of. She screamed and cried as Sam tried to calm her down, "Cece! Stop it!" He pleaded, squeezing her hands and legs down as she begun to sniffling as she wiped her nose, "It was an accident. I didn't mean to."
"I'm sorry." She cried, looking at Teddy who stood at the door frame guarded by her twin brother who was staring at her hatefully. Trey grabbed her arm, pulling her away from the scene.
"Teddy," her mom said in shock, looking at the wallet in her hands. Teddy furrowed her eyebrows. "Is that dads?"
Beatrice shook her head, walking to her as she put her cold hands on her face, "I love you so much. I have to my go, bus leaves in five minutes." She kissed her daughters cheek, inhaling before walking away. "So that's it? Your just gonna leave?"
"Yes. I am." Beatrice shrugged. "We have done everything we can. I need you." Teddy shook her head, reaching to grab her before she noticed her large pupils, "I need to go."
"If you leave," she sighed, closing her eyes, "I will hate you for the rest of my life."
Beatrice deadpanned, "I used to regret having you did you know that?" Her mind began spinning at her words, "I used to wish one of you died in the womb so I didn't have to deal with kids. I was 16 and scared." Beatrice looked away as she went back to the memory, "I guess I hated you first."
Her eyes fell as she let her mom finally walk away. In this moment she knew the mother that she loved was gone. The women she cared for everyday, held, cried to, was not safe anymore.
Jeremiah Fisher knew something was off immediately when he woke up, walking into Sams room with a worried look, "Everything okay?"
"Yes. Are you going to the deb rehearsal with Teddy or is she taking that Lucas?" Sam asked. Jeremiah lowered his head, biting the inside of his lip. "I don't know I haven't talked to her."
Sam shook his head, "I know what's happening. I see it now. Either love her or leave her."
This hit Jeremiah like a brick when he turned around to see her walking out of her room, with her small bag and her messy curls that were untouched from the night before. She looked perfect. The baby blue dress that was tight at the top and flowy at the bottom brought her complexion out. But, once she looked up at him and smiled away from the phone call, he immediately looked away, "Yes, Lucas, I get that but I need you with me today."
Teddy said, reminiscing through her purse, "I know, I'm sorry. I got carried away at that party. I'm so hungover." Teddy rolled her eyes, "Im really getting sick of these excuses, but it's fine. Just text me when your there even if your late."
Jeremiah shook his head, walking away. He couldn't believe it. Because if it was him, he would make sure she felt like a princess. A queen even. Like she was floating on top of the earth— but, Lucas only gave her half of him.
Her heels hit the floor as she walked side by side with her brother in the Country club, nervously looking around. Trey put a hand on her shoulder, letting her know he was walking away as he walked to his girlfriend, Gigi. The girl gave her a small wave before they walked away together.
Her eyes scanned the room for her boyfriend, walking over to the table, "Please join your partners now."
Teddy felt a panic, looking at the stares from the older deb's whispering to their partners. She pulled out her phone, about to text Lucas before she gave up. He wasn't coming.
Just as she was about to walk away, her hand was grabbed as she was pulled into a familiar chest. It was Kai. She felt her breathe be stripped away, looking at him angrily, "You need a partner?"
"Not you." Teddy scoffed, trying to walk away again before he began waltzing. It was quiet as they looked at eachother, Teddy staring at him with so much hate, "Stop looking at me like that, Princess. You know your enjoying this as much as I am."
"I am not because I don't like you." Teddy let out a gasp as he aggressively spun her, making her fall back into his hands, "You're an arrogant ass."
"Awh," he pouted, "I don't like you all that much either. But, here we are." He sighed, knowing what he was doing as he stared into her eyes. "Looks like Kalani is getting jealous, you better cut that out." Teddy used her eyes to point to a girl who was staring at them, Kai didn't even look over his head, still staring at the girl infront of him.
"She's not my girlfriend. Plus, I'm dancing with Teddy Kreese." Teddy rolled her eyes, "I would much rather be dancing with my boyfriend. But, he wasn't able to make it." She sighed.
"Maybe because he's with Amber," Kai shook his head, looking at her with regret at his own sentence once she slowly stopped dancing. "Amber?"
"I didn't mean that, I meant um," Kai was trying to come up with an excuse in his head, "His ex? Kai, tell me." She inches closer to him, making his demeanor change as he hardened his expression.
"They've been.. well, talking again." He sighed, looking away from her as he couldn't watch her face drop. "What?"
"He said that he was only using you to, you know." She scoffed, beginning to walk off before the loud sound of a music change and everyone jumping around made her scoot back into Kai. His hand fell to her waist, making her turn around to him. "Thanks for telling me, I guess." She barely whispered, leaving him there as she pushed through the crowd.
Jeremiah was too busy with Belly to even notice her. But, he hadn't forgotten. He had walked in the Country Club, looking for her. But, once he saw her dancing with someone he recognized as Kai Blake, he walked over to Belly. He had always thought Belly was special but, not like Teddy.
But, as she waited on the steps for her ride, she heard the door open, quickly turning her head to see him. Kai held a flask in his hand, holding it out to her. She hesitated, before she took a big sip, the burning sensation in her throat.
"So, you still gonna be a deb?" Kai asked, taking his flask back. "Dunno. No date, no Deb." Teddy shrugged.
Kai had an idea pop into his head, whipping it around to look at her. "I'll be your date."
"What?"
"I'll be your date." He shrugged, taking a sip of his drink. "You can't be serious? I already told you, I don't like you. I'm not gonna spend every day with you either." She rudely spoke, looking in the other direction.
"I mean, to make him jealous." Kai turned his body, tilting his head. "Your ridiculous."
"I'm serious, Kreese. Plus, don't you think we make a good team?" As she turned her head back to him it felt as if they were inches closer than they had already been. Her eyes were out of control, looking down at his appearance for the first time.
His unbuttoned plain-blue shirt, showing every inch of his abs. She felt herself getting hot as she looked back to his grinning face, making her fully turn towards him. "Worried you might fall in love, hm?" He teased her about her hesitation making her scoff.
"Me and you? That is never going to happen." She shrugged. "Oh really?"
"What do I have to make you understand, how much I hate you, Kai Blake?" She slightly raised her voice. "Am I taking you to the ball or not?"
She let out a loud groan,
"Jesus— okay. You can take me to the ball, Kai Blake."
