Chapter 22
My grip on my folded legs was tight. I stared ahead, zoning out as my thoughts ran wild. My eyes stung the smallest bit; my chin rested against my knees. My breathing was a little heavy, my gut was twisting, and I blocked out any noises that were being made.
Hoody had brought me to a small cottage that he told me belonged to Skully. Once he had set me down on my feet, I collapsed against the wall next to the door. Landing on my ass wasn't the most pleasant experience, but it got me where I was at the moment.
My dominant hand felt heavy and dirty. And it was. I had blood on my hands, even if others couldn't see it. It really was more figuratively than literally, but it was still there. It was hard to forget, especially the feeling of the gun in my hand as I fired. There was even a bit of pain and soreness from the recoil.
The back of my throat still tickled from the running I did, and it was almost as if my body wanted me to remember what I had done. I wanted to forget it, but everything prevented me from doing so. I couldn't tell what I was feeling, there were so many emotions at once.
Even when Hoody came into view, I didn't move, my limbs too stiff. He sat in front of me, mask on and hood pulled up. "Starlight," he gently called, reaching out his gloved hand. I stayed still, half hoping the hand would wrap around my throat and squeeze as tight as he could, but it didn't make it that far. He rested his hand on one of my hands that were attached to my knees.
When I still didn't react, he retracted his hand and pushed his hood back before hooking his thumbs under his mask. With a sigh, he slowly pulled it off and shoved it into his hoodie pocket. After that, he glanced down at his hands before carefully removing the gloves and stuffing them into the pocket as well.
"(Y/n)." His voice was softer than before, and his usage of my real name completely took my attention. The steel color of his beautiful eyes were tinted the slightest bit blue. They were soft like liquid mercury and I could lose myself in them as one would lose their mind to the element itself.
The gentle tone of his voice mixed in with the softest southern accent was music to my ears, and it was enough to make me nearly cry. It was comforting and exactly what I needed.
With the way his eyes shone with empathy, I could only guess that he'd done it before. "Do you want me to leave the room?" I shook my head multiple times as my head shot up. My eyes were wide, and my breathing grew heavier than before.
He carefully held his right hand out, curving his fingers for my neck to fit. I released my grip on my legs, feeling a tingle run through my arms.
Shifting closer, he stretched his legs out, giving me a spot to sit closer to him. After a moment of hesitation, I slid forward, an uncomfortable look on my face at the sensation in my knees. I let my legs wrap around his hips, resting on top of his.
I pushed his sleeve up with care, and seeing the special little nickname he called me made me want to shiver as I recalled Masky yelling it out. Carefully, I placed my hands where the handprints used to be. I gently pulled it closer to my neck before pressing it against my skin.
His emotions began taking place inside of me, and I knew mine were reaching him. Our thoughts began mixing in my head; his thoughts were fuzzy compared to mine, which were loud and unsettling.
Blue-tinted, steel eyes stared into my (e/c) ones.
He pressed his forehead against mine and our noses brushed. I could feel his breath mixing with my own as he slowly closed the distance between ours.
His stubble brushed against my skin, tickling it a little bit. His thin lips were partially chapped from the lack of lip balm. His cheeks were flushed with red and heat. His eyes were half-lidded.
If this was his form of a distraction, it was certainly working.
The door opened, making him pull his face away to look. His eyes hardened from the liquid, bluish silver to the usual solid, steel gray. At the sight of Skully, he relaxed before noticing the blood dripping from the entity.
Hoody's eyes widened as he saw the smallest stumble from them, quickly pulling away from me. "Holy shit!" He swore when they fell over onto the floor.
