KAMARIA WOODS
JANUARY 5th, 2008.
SATURDAY 11:24 am

ZION COULDN'T REMOVE his eyes from the girl that he used to be able to call his girlfriend, proudly. If it were up to him, he would still be with her.

He sometimes thought about what he did to her, and beat himself up for it. He let his lust get in the way of something real.

Initially when they broke up he wasn't to beat up over it because he had Sarai, so he felt like he wouldn't miss her too much. That was up until he was smacked with reality and it was revealed that they were nothing alike.

He thought since they were sisters it couldn't been much of a difference but it was. What drew him to kamaria was that, she wasn't self centered, she was down to earth, she was also possessive but he liked that.

She was very smart, and was the type to push you to reach your goals because she believed in you. Along with that, she always kept up with herself, she smelled good, her skin was always glowing and the list could go on.

Sarai, was mostly the opposite of her sister. She took pride in being self centered so her appearance wasn't bad, but she wanted things to only go her way, which could frustrate zion at times. Which was exactly why he hadn't made it official with her. He didn't plan on it either.

Kyaire had his face scrunched up, looking at Zion stare at his sister like he had an obsession over her. Kyaire felt like it was something his sister wasn't telling him.

Again.

Zion was looking at her like he knew her, on a personal level. It just didn't make any sense to him since he was there with Sarai.

On the other hand, kamaria was paying them no mind, seeming to be more engaged with the burgers that bianca had homemade.

If you asked kamaria or Kyaire about bianca they wouldn't have much to say about her. She tried to be cool most of the time, and never did anything to make them feel out of place.

They only thing they could say, and not hate on her about was her cooking. It was top tierโ€”just not better than there mothers.

Another thing was she seemed to be in tune with them, remembering little things about them. Like the fact that Kyaire liked cheese, ketchup and onions on his burgersโ€”making it a cheese burger. Or the fact that kamaria only liked cheese and ketchup on hers, and she preferred tater tots over French fries so she fried tater tots just for her while everybody else indulged in fries.

"How have y'all been?" Bianca broke the silent atmosphere, not wanting it to be awkward the whole trip.

Kamaria looked at her. She could tell the woman just wanted a relationship with her husbands kids, and they kind of made it hard since they weren't interested that much.

She had even tried to suggest kyree attend, but it was a dead end. Especially once Sarai complained how kyree always had something smart to say to her.

"Good," Kamaria had to hold her burger with two hands since it was a nice and decent size. "What about you?" She asked before taking a large bite out of it, nodding in approval.

"I'm good, I was actually wondering if you guys had mentors." Bianca went on, scooping ketchup on her French fry.

Dexter, zion, and Sarai had yet to say anything, but they were tuned in the conversation.

"Whatchu mean." Kyaire muttered.

"A mentor is like some one who you can go to for any advice concerning school, if you have questions, or need help with things like scholarships for college..." Sarai explained, inserting herself in the conversation.

"Oh..." Kyaire dragged, darting his eyes to everyone. "So basically lil bit ?" He questioned.

Kamaria choked on her water, covering her mouth as she stifled a laugh. She swallowed her water wiping her mouth, the smile still stuck on her face.

"I'm not following.." Sarai muttered wondering what was so funny on kamarias part.

"I'm just saying...the same thing you just told me, my sister already do for me. Plus more." Kyaire shrugged truthfully. It was a blessing to him to have his sister.

She was helping him with college applications, along with meeting the requirements for graduation, and being accepted, and she was doing the same thing for Samir, while she wasn't even a senior yet. She was still a junior.

"Oh I didn't know," bianca smiled bringing her cup to her lips, "I was just going to offer to get you guys one since Sarai now has one, but if kamaria has it under control that's good."

Kamaria and Kyaire nodded at her.

"So, that mean yall grades good huh." Dexters took a bite from his well dressed burger, with all his preferred vegetables on it.

"Yep," kamaria put a tater tot in her mouth.

"What about you? You doin good in school, I know ion know you much." Dexter looked at Zion who was silent.

He nodded his head caught off guard, "yes sir."

"Oh, can we please cut the small talk. I was coerced here because apparently Sarai told y'all something. Can you just get it off your chest." Kamaria sighed resting her chin on her palm.

"I don't think it's appropriate to talk about our family problems in front of Zion." Sarai forced a small smile on her face to refrain from snapping back.

"If you ain't wanna talk about it in front of him, you shouldn't have brought him. You knew what we was here to do. Suck it up rai." Kamaria squinted her eyes.

Her sister didn't put an ounce of fear in her heart. They weren't raised the same, at all and they had different mechanisms.

If they were to ever fight, kamaria would embarrass her badly.

"Look, both of y'all chill out." Dexter shifted his eyes between his two daughters , "this is exactly why we here, y'all gotta learn to get along again." His voice rumbled.

"We have never got along, ever!" Kamaria dropped her tater tot, dipping her eyebrows.

She stared back at her father. He wasn't ugly, he actually kept up with himself. He was scruffy, with lighter color skin , a low hair cut and a nicely trimmed beard. He had muscle standingย  at a decent height. As far as that, she didn't know what her mother saw in him, he had the complex of a toddler.

Either that, or he was acting like he didn't notice the tension between them on purpose.

"What are you talking about, we were cool in the beginning of last year." Sarai frowned feeling offended.

"Sarai, your problem is that you think you know everything, and you better than every one including me." Kamaria rolled her eyes leaning into her seat. "If we was cool last year, tell them the reason we not no more and fell off." She cut her eyes at Zion.

He sunk into his seat praying this wasn't going how it looked. He didn't expect for anyone to find out.

Sarai gulped, "I-I don't know."

Kamaria shook her head, "So that's yo plan right?" Kamaria asked confusing her. "You gonna play dumb this whole time, when you the reason we here right??" She asked another question.

Everybody else was super quiet, wanting to know what she was talking about, and it was clear Sarai had been lying about something because she looked as if she had seen a ghost.

"How am I the reason we here kamaria, our problems are within the both of us. Stop trynna act innocent." Sarai crossed her arms.

Kamaria smirked, running her tongue over her bottom row of teeth. "So what did I do?" She questioned genuinely, but found it amusing at the same time.

Sarai glanced at her dad because she knew he would be expecting her to tell her what she told him, and the exact reason they were there.

"Come on Sarai, spit it out. You doin too much." Kyaire placed his cup to his lips to take a gulp of his water. He had just polished his plate clean, and wanted a nap. Especially since he drove.

"Youโ€”" Sarais chest heaved up and down since it looked like kamaria was getting a kick out of this.

"Aight enough." Dexter stood up. "Get y'all plates, I wanna show y'all something." He pushed his chair out, walking around the table.

"Only lil bit and Sarai." He reminded before walking off.

Sarai felt a wave of relief wash over her standing up with her food since she wasn't finished. Kamaria groaned, but did the same since it was so good.

Bianca looked between zion and Kyaire, "come on let's just follow." She whispered because she had no idea what her husband was about to do.

Following behind them, "you two let's go." His arm gestured inside of a room, one that stayed locked, so they never knew what it was.ย

Sarai was eager to see what was inside, while kamaria was a little more suspicious.

They walked inside seeing two twin beds on the opposite sides of the room, with two desks that had paper and a pencil on each desk but that was it. Even the walls were plain and white.

"I thought doing it as a family would be the better alternative, but y'all gotta work this shit out by y'all self. So y'all gone be in here until y'all can openly admit what the problem is and work through it, alone." He shut the door catching them off guard.

"I'll bring y'all more food in a little bit." He said through the door, and their jaws dropped hearing him lock the door from the outside.

"Dad you sure this a good idea..." Kyaire trailed off with an unsure look on his face. He knew exactly what his sister was capable of, and under stress it was ten times worse.

He couldn't stand Sarai but he didn't want her to get hurt and messing with kamaria, she would be.

"Yeah I know ion have a say, but it just doesn't seem smart." Zion added his input while Dexter shrugged.

"One way or the other."

"I just know he didn't." Kamaria stared at the door as of it would magically open back up.

"This your dumb ass fault." Sarai shook her head plopping on the twin sized bed on the right, closer to the door.

"Sure it is," kamaria ignored her, taking a seat on the opposite bed , sitting her plate in her lap eating another tater tot as silence took over the two.

Kamaria refused to talk to her so she didn't see what her dad was getting at with this plan but it would fail. At least until Sarai came clean about what ever was said to even initiate this trip.

Kamaria sat criss cross on the bed she was occupying.

"So..." Sarai spoke making kamaria look up, with an unreadable expression on her face, almost as if she was acting innocent , but was very amused.

"Unless you gone tell me what the problem is, shut the fuck up." Kamaria rolled her eyes, trying to finish off her burger. It was so big but it was so good, and she was almost finished.

Sarai smacked her teeth and crossed her arms.

The time began rolling by, and before they knew it, a hour and a half had passed and they had been sitting in boredom, or more so Sarai. Kamaria was trying to nap but it was to hard in her environment, so she had just been laying there with her eyes closed so Sarai wouldn't talk to her.

They didn't have tv, music, or a phone. Just four walls and each other.

Finally, kamaria huffed, standing up. "Where are you going?" Sarai asked her, letting her eyes follow her.

"Looking for a phone, I know he got one in here." She muttered, with her eyes darting around the room.

"I already looked."

Kamaria ignored her, making her way to the closet, pulling it open. The house phone caught her attention as it sat on top of the shelf, but she shook her head.

It was a phone in there, but it wasn't hooked up. So it was a dead end. "At least I found it, shit and hooked up to nothing though." She sighed plopping in the chair, at the desk on her side. "Why can't we just lie and say we made up." She looked over at her sister who was staring at her, almost if she was analyzing her.

She was realizing they were completely different, all the way down to their attitude.

"Because he's just gonna ask us how, plus what happened, and all that. So unless we really do, ain't no leaving." Sarai answered knowing how her dad worked.

Kamaria blew out a breath knowing she was right.

It was way to early for this. It was only going on one pm. Messing with her, they would be there all day.

"Then talk." Kamaria said, with her eyes penetrating her sister.

Sarai felt a lump in her throat because she honestly didn't think this was going to go like this at all. She had a whole plan conjured up, and now it had fell to crumbles.

It was only becoming worse.

"What?" Sarai played dumb.

Kamaria looked at her for a moment then scoffed, removing the hoops from her ears.

"What are you doing?" Sarais eyebrows furrowed.

"You pissing me off, you wanna play dumb and shit like you not the reason I'm even here. Then you brought zion like you was doin something, but the second somebody asks what the problem is, you get quiet. I'm not finna sit in here all day with you." Kamaria explained, using a silly band bracelet on her wrist to hold back her curls. "I see I'm jus gone have to beat yo ass to get outta here." She mumbled more so to herself.

Sarais entire face dropped, "bitch you can't beat me." Sarai stood up not taking her fighting words lightly. She whole heartedly believed her words too. Kamaria couldn't beat her.

Sarai had never lost a fight, so she was on a high horse. Granted, she didn't fight people with much skill or technique, she still always won.

"Who can't?!" Kamaria stood up, then rushed her making them fall on the floor. Sarai quickly grabbed ahold the top of her head.

Kamaria squeezed her eyes closed shut as she landed on top of Sarai, pummeling her fists into her face repeatedly.

"Hoe get the fuckโ€”off me." Sarai strained using her feet to kick kamaria in the side.

Kamaria easily slipped off of her to avoid getting kicked even more, positioning herself on her knees, while Sarai tried her hardest to roll over and get out of the way of kamaria pounding her fists into her.

She eventually succeeded, and both of them stood back up breathing heavily. Sarai gulped realizing that kamaria wasn't done when she put her set back up, and since no one else but them were in there, no one would break it up.

Sarai swung on her first to gain the upper hand, and this time the fight was more fair as they started throwing blows at each other.

Kamarias were way harder, but Sarai was trying her best to keep up with speed. Kamaria kept moving forward aiming her punches towards her face.

Sarai could feel her vision blurring once she got hit in the eye with full force. Once Sarai hit her in the side of the face, kamaria grabbed her hair and forcefully yanked her closer to her body and away from the door.

She wrapped her forearm around her neck, and Sarai was officially in a head lock as kamaria began pummeling her free fist into her face giving her faithful uppercuts.

Sarai attempted to used her arm to hit the side of kamaria while in the head lock but she was running out of breath.

Kamaria tucked her lips into her mouth, with her eyes squinting. She used her foot to sweep under her feet and Sarai fell to the ground while the door could be heard unlocking.

"You gone keep tryin me huh?" Kamarias face was turned up as she stood there digging in her sisters face with her fists.

"Stop!" Dexter shouted grabbing kamaria off of her, but she was disappointed because she knew she was capable of more damage.

She couldn't lie she was holding back because it was her sister. Anybody else she would've tried to beat them until they were inches away from death.

"I told you this wasn't a good idea." Kyaire shook his head gripping kamarias wrist so she would stay still while Dexter helped Sarai up.

"The fuck is wrong with y'all! Ain't nothing ever that serious!" Dexter shouted with a mug, holding Sarai back, since she was looking like she wanted to fight again.

"Stop trynna play tough rai, youn want dis. I promise you." Kamaria shook her head seriously.

"What happened!?" He questioned looking between them.

"We solved it. Just not the way you wanted." Kamaria shrugged with a non-caring tone.

Kamaria raised her eye brows at Sarai wondering since she still didn't know what they were originally there for.

"Aight go in yall room cause that shit clearly ain't work," Dexter shook his head disappointedly. This had always worked with his brother while growing up so he thought it would be a piece of cake with his daughters.

There was too much unaware animosity coming from every angle.

"Fine, ion care. I didn't even wanna be here in the first place." Kamaria spat, snatching away from Kyaire and walking away.

Sarai shook her head, and Dexter looked at her with disappointment. she looked like she got jumped by six people when it was one versus one.

"Bianca, help her." He referred to her face. She was a medical assistant so she was experienced.

"Come on baby," Bianca ushered her out and passed Kyaire and zion.

They goin home next chapter but not after some more drama!
