You and the team were currently flying to the location of Yokai, Akuma Island (A/N: Miraculous Ladybug, anyone? (btw y'all should check out my Chat Noir x Reader fanfic)). Everyone was piled onto Baymax while you flew beside them. You absolutely loved your suit's ability of flight. The wind on your face and clouds within arm's reach. It allowed you to feel like you had no boundaries. You did a couple of twirls in the air, grinning from ear to ear.
"Killer view," GoGo commented. Hiro had to agree, but he wasn't looking at the scenery. Your eyes met for a second, and then you both looked away, smiling.
"Yeah, if I... if I wasn't terrified of heights, I'd probably love this. But I'm terrified of heights, so I don't love it!" Wasabi trembled.
"There. Baymax, take us in," Hiro ordered. You all descended to the ground within a wired fence, and the gang dismounted Baymax.
"Awesome!" Fred exclaimed, "Our first landing together as a team."
"Guys, come on," you whispered, leading the way with Hiro.
"'Quarantine'?" Wasabi questioned, referencing the signs plastered on the fence. "Uh, do you people know what 'quarantine' means?"
"'Quarantine.' Enforced isolation to prevent contamination that could lead to disease, or, in some cases, death," Baymax defined.
"Oh! There's a skull face on this one," Wasabi remarked sarcastically. "A skull face!"
"Be ready," Hiro warned as you turned a corner. "He could be anywhere." You approached the entrance to the building, but soon heard a rustling noise from behind.
Hiro pushed you behind him protectively, using Baymax to take cover. Everyone frantically used their weapons. That is until the smoke cleared out to reveal... a pigeon. It cooed, then flew away.
"That... was a bird," Fred remarked.
"Well, at least we know our gear works," said Honey.
Wasabi began to cut through the thick metal door with his plasma blades. He was supposedly cutting a circle, but it looked a bit abstract. He missed the connecting point at the bottom, and made one more uneven slice before the metal fell through. The hole allowed a corridor to be seen, and you started in.
"Seven intrepid friends, led by Fred, their leader Freddddddd," Fred sang. "Fred's Angels, mm-mm-mmm. Fred's Angels, mm-mm-mmm. Harnessing the power of the sun with the ancient amulet they found in the attic. Mm-mm-mmm, the amulet is green. Mm-mm-mmm, it's probably an emerald. M—"
"Fred," Wasabi interrupted. Fred abruptly stopped humming. "I will laser-hand you in the face!"
"Guys, shh," Hiro quieted.
"Any sign of him, Baymax?" you asked.
"This structure is interfering with my sensor," Baymax replied, attempting to adjust his camera lenses.
"Perfect. The robot's broken."
As you continued walking, Honey stopped short. "Uh, guys, you might want to see this," she said, pushing open a door that went unnoticed.
The team walked into the room to find scattered wires and metal bars. They seemed to be the remains of a failed mechanical project.
"What do you think it is, geniuses?" GoGo asked, referring to you and Hiro.
"I-I'm not sure," Hiro started, "but look." He pointed to the familiar symbol on the piece of machinery.
"It's that symbol from the previous encounters," you recognized.
"Hiro, (Y/N)," Honey called, bringing your attention to an enclosed space within the room. A red glow was being emitted from inside. You made your way to the door, Baymax pushing it open as you peeked in.
You and Hiro warily crept over to the red glow, noticing a screen with the same symbol in black. He pressed a button on the control panel and the screen awakened. Nine rectangles were displayed, one of them showing paused video footage.
"Krei," Hiro observed. He rewound the tape. The other boxes flickered to life one by one, showing footage from different angles and locations.
That's right, said Krei, we were asked to do the impossible. That's what we did. We've reinvented the very concept of transportation.
He walked down a pathway leading to a round machine, a few others following behind. Friends, I present Project Silent Sparrow. The machines powered up, the centers being filled with a blue-violet light.
General, may I? Krei offered a hand, receiving the General's hat. Krei tossed it through the machine, and a moment later, it came out the opposite one. An assistant waiting there threw it back.
"Woah! Magic hat!" Fred exclaimed.
Krei caught the it and returned it. The small crowd gasped. Teleportation. The transport of matter instantaneously through space, he defined. Not science fiction anymore.
They made their way back to the control central, presumably the very room that you were standing in. Now, we didn't spend billions of tax dollars to teleport hats. Ladies and gentlemen, you're here to witness history, Krei continued. Ready to go for a ride, Abigail? he said into an intercom.
From a different camera, we watched Abigail step into a vehicle. We've invited all these people, she said. Might as well give 'em a show. She pressed buttons and switched levers in preparation for launching as a countdown started. The technicians validated the necessary conditions as the pod moved into position.
Sir, we've picked up a slight irregularity in the magnetic containment field, one of the assistants suddenly notified Krei.
Mr. Krei, is there a problem? the General queried.
No, no problem, he replied. It's well within the parameters. Let's move forward.
Three... two... one... Pod engaged, an automated voice indicated as the pod rocketed into the portal. However, it didn't reappear out of the second portal as it was intended to.
Field breach, abort! We've lost all contact with the pod, a technician informed. The second portal exploded a moment later.
"Oh, no," Honey gasped.
In the video footage, the assistants were hurriedly trying to deactivate the machine. The remaining portal began to tear apart the building, sucking fragments inside. Krei was typing on one of the control panels.
The magnetic containment field's down! someone announced. The cameras were also devoured by the portal, limiting your sights.
The ground shook and debris flew into the portal. Krei, shut it down now! the General ordered.
After a few more clicks on the controls, the machine powered down. I want this island sealed off!...
"The government shut down Krei's experiment," Hiro explained.
"And he's using your microbots to steal his machine back," Honey Lemon finished.
"Krei is the guy in the mask."
