THE ANNOYING ALARM CLOCK THAT Cecile's phone was incessantly buzzing through her ears, made her rapidly get up out of bed. Today is the day that Kol will be joining high school and Cecile is going to be helping him get through it.
The smell of her uncle's famous pancakes made her swiftly run down the stairs, her stomach growling from hunger.
"Is it Uncle Damon's famous pancake day again?" Stefan nodded as he sipped his coffee. Damon put the stack of pancakes in front of his niece, grabbing the whipped cream can and making a smiley face with vampire fangs.
It was a routine every time her uncle made Cecile pancakes. Scarfing down the sweet breakfast quickly, both of Cecile's uncles stared at her, wondering what her rush was. "Wow, that was quick. What's your hurry, Murray?" Damon eyed his niece carefully, trying to read her and what the deal was.
Cecile hasn't mentioned to her uncles that she will be chaperoning Kol, as well as she didn't even tell them that he was going to be enrolled at her school.
"I have to chaperone someone new at school, so can we please hurry, Uncle S?"
"Who is this person?" Stefan questioned his niece, making it sound more of an interrogation. Cecile swallowed the lump that was in her throat and tried to lie the best she could.
"Don't really know who they are, only that they are from uh..." Cecile tried to quickly lie. "Alaska."
Damon had a questioning and suspicious look on his face, however, he decided not to pry. Stefan finished the last piece of pancake that was on his plate and proceeded to grab his backpack and keys.
"Okay, Cici, come on, let's go to school so you can meet the new kid from...Alaska." Cecile tried to put up a convincing smile, following her uncle out the door.

Cecile opened her locker, putting away the heavy textbooks that she had to carry with her. Cecile was so lost in her thoughts, she didn't even notice someone approaching her. Closing her locker door, there stood a handsome original vampire, Kol. Cecile jumped slightly, not expecting to be greeted by him like this.
"Well, well, well, look at you darling, all cute in your school gear." Glaring at him playfully, Cecile grabbed the yellow paper that was in his hands and noticed they both had a majority of the same classes together.
"Did you have something to do with the fact that we all have the same classes?" Kol just plastered his signature smirk, proudly admitting his actions with the advantage of compulsion.
"Of course I did, why else would I want to go to school? The point was to spend more time with you." Smiling lightly, she walked away from Kol, starting to walk to their first period which happens to be Alaric's class.
Cecile was moderately scared, knowing that Kol and Alaric already had an encounter and it wasn't a fond one either. Also, her uncle was in that class as well, so she was sure a lecture was on her way once she arrived home.
Once Cecile walked through the doors of Alaric's classroom, she was greeted kindly with the smiles of her friends and family. But once Kol showed up behind her, those smiles soon faded immediately at the sight of him. Rebekah and Alaric glared at him, Elena and Bonnie were shocked, and Stefan gave a protective look, wondering why Cecile was hanging out with him.
"Hello, I'm new. What an honor to be in your class. I hope I find it as divine and as wonderful like that encounter the other night." Kol stared into Alaric's eyes intently, visibly making him feel threatened.
Cecile took her regular seat and it so happened that an empty one was next to her, so of course, Kol took it. Throughout the class, Kol was correcting Alaric of the history that he lectured incorrectly, making everyone roll their eyes at him. However, Cecile thought it was intriguing that Kol knew so much about history, especially since he was daggered a majority of times.
Luckily for her friends, the bell rang, making all of the students get up. Rebekah was the first one to approach Kol, asking her older brother why he is at school.
"Kol, what the bloody hell are you doing here? You were never interested in school before, so why now?"
"Cecile convinced me to. She is great at convincing people you know." Rebekah just shook her head as she walked out of the classroom. Stefan then approached his niece, folding his arms in from of her, wondering what her explanation was going to be for this "new student from Alaska."
"So, I don't think Kol is from Alaska." Cecile turned her head to be greeted by her uncle. She gave him a small innocent smile, knowing that they were going to have e bigger talk with Damon at home.
"Look, I would've told you guys, but you would obviously be hovering over me all day if I said anything at home. Plus, Damon would freak out too." Stefan sighed, feeling obligated to text Damon, but Cecile gave him pleading eyes, which he gave into reluctantly.
Soon, the next classes of the day went by quickly. Cecile said she wanted to get ice cream and Kol quickly agreed, wanting to hang out with the girl more. Once the pair entered the ice cream shop, Kol held open the door for her, making a smile appear with a soft blush.
"Why, thank you, kind sir," Cecile said in a poor English accent.
"Always an honor, darling." Just as they were about to pick a seat, Damon's voice started to blare through their ears.
"Hello, kids. Now how rude would it be if my niece didn't invite me for ice cream? Tsk, tsk, bitch move, Cici." She turned around to see Damon eating a banana sundae in one of the booths. Kol only glared at him indignantly for ruining their ice cream.
"What the hell are you doing here, Damon? How did you even fi- wait, did Stefan tell you that Kol goes to school now?" Shaking her head mentally at her uncle, Damon only smiled at Cecile. He turned his head towards Kol and motioned him to come to sit with them.
"You young vampires are so ignorant, it's quite entertaining really," Kol said, talking about Damon. Cecile put a hand in the air, indicating the men to stop bickering.
As she was trying to order ice cream, Cecile could see both Damon and Kol glaring at each other from her peripherals. Once the lady took her order and left, all Cecile could feel was pain suddenly bursting through her head. She rubbed her temples and Kol noticed her discomfort.
"Love, are you alright? You look a little pale?" When Cecile lifted her head up, blood started to trickle out of her nose, surprising both vampires. Even though Kol's blood lust was strong, his worry for Cecile overpowered the craving.
"Yeah, I just got a headache out of nowhere. I'm fine. I just need to go to the bathroom." As Cecile got up from her seat, once she stood up, a wave full of dizziness hit her. Before she fell to the ground, Kol flashed in front of her, catching her swiftly.
"Cecile! Can you hear me?" Kol tried his best to wake up the girl as Damon soon crouched down to his niece, worried evidently.
"We need to get her to the hospital," Damon anxiously said, as he tried to take her away from Kol's arms but he immediately retracted Damon's request and tried to protect Cecile from his touch.
"Are you mad?! This has to be supernatural, there is no way a hospital ran by humans could help," Kol said angrily. Damon had enough of the original vampire's debate, so he quickly broke a piece of wood and stabbed Kol straight through his heart.
As he laid there in pain, Damon quickly grabbed Cecile and vamp sped to the hospital. Not knowing that when Kol wakes up, he would be psychotic, temperamental, and murderous once he gained consciousness.
Kol put Cecile's protection first on his priorities list, which was something he has never done with anyone or anything. He himself would always be the number one priority, but when it came to Cecile, her life mattered more than anything else in the world.
