THE TWELVE KINGDOMS
OF AURADON:

House Rose Crest

- A sword wrapped in sharp thorn vines with large pink roses on a field of purple. The frame is wooden and also wrapped in thorns. The sword represents High King Phillip, a great swordsman as well as their armies in battle. The roses represent High Queen Aurora Briar Rose, the namesake for Auradon and the Rose family name. The thorns, often missed by the people, are to represent a form of nature that protects the roses, a subtle threat, a defense mechanism, a way to protect. Beautiful and dangerous. The frame is wooden and also encased in thorns. The purple field represents royalty (and a combination of Aurora's classic dresses).

House Locksley Crest

- A red fox holding a bow and arrow on a green field. The fox comes from Robin Hood's depiction of a wily and tricky fox along with his iconic weapon: a bow and arrow. The green symbolizes Sherwood Forest, where the Merry Men dwelled and named after Maid Marian's family, It also represents money, as Robin stole from the rich and gave to the poor.

House DunBroch Crest

- A sword in the center with three bears intertwined behind it on a grey field. The banner was remade under Merida's reign. The silver sword was her father's banner, a link to their past. The three bears symbolize courage, strength, strong willed, and DunBroch's are also known as bears themselves. The bears are also intertwined to show their closeness as a family. The bears and sword are a light sage color meaning wisdom, intelligence, experience, and a connection to nature. The grey field means neutrality and balance. It also alludes to how not everything can be black or white, it's more complicated than that. Its dozens of shades of grey. Unlike the other Auradon crests, this sigil is not portrayed in the traditional shield crest but rather the same banner shape as other DunBroch banners before it. Its torn appearance alludes to their time and victory in battle.

House Andersen Crest

- A reindeer on top of a crocus and its wreathes on a split field of purple and green. The yellow/green crocus is a symbol of rebirth or spring. The reindeer means resourcefulness, safe journey, and knowledge. The forest green is for growth, transition, and loyalty. The dark purple is a subtle reminder that they are royal, but its darker shade indicates maturity, frustration, and patience.

House Charmante Crest

- A white dove and blue slipper wrapped in a C on a field of sky blue, encased in a golden frame with a crown on top. The dove represents Prince Charming while the slipper is for Cinderella. The bird also symbolizes freedom, something Cinderella was denied for most of her life but now has. The bird and the shoe also subtlety imply that the Charmante influence can go top to bottom. The white dove is also a symbol of peace, freedom, and love. The light blue field refers to calming and trust, but it's also the sky the dove flies over. The darker blue is for responsibility and security while the gold and the crown implies their wealth and their belief they should rule.

Southbreak Crest

- The Southbreak sigil, rather than being a family crest, this banner represents all of Southbreak, not just a noble family who rules them. Features a navy blue and white color scheme, along with two symbols: a tower and the fleur de lis. The tower refers to higher learning, change, and liberation while the fleur de lis refers to royalty. Both symbols underneath waves of the ocean, this refers to their fishing ports and the duality represents both sides of common born and higher born residents who live side by side. Navy blue is for both the ocean and trust, stability and less attention seeking than lighter shades. White is for a new chapter, a blank slate, or peacefulness (the point of Southbreak).

House Beaumont Crest

- King Beasts' transformed golden head on a field of blue in a yellow frame. The Beaumont family sigil was not always this way. During the war it was a much more fearsome version of the Beast in order to evoke fear in enemies. But when Beast was chosen as King until Audrey was of age, he made changes to appear less dangerous and more trusting. The royal blue devotes authority, trust, and confidence as well as royalty and dependability. The yellow almost golden color is for generosity and compassion (Belle's side) but it also means power, sensibility, and hope.

House Salientia Crest

- A glowing firefly on a field of dark and light greens. The firefly is to represent their fallen friend, Ray, a firefly who died helping them. Fireflies also mean to remind us that "it's the small simple things in life that matter the most." The greens represent both halves that rule together, an equality among them in the crest. The darker green is for transition, ambition; the lighter shade is for nature, health, growth and prosperity.

House Solis Crest

- A shinning sun on a purple field. The sun symbolizes life, power, positivity, and clarity. It's also a natural force that's outside our control but illuminates the world around us. The color yellow comes from the sun and shares similar meaning but it can also stand for honor, loyalty, and intellect. The purple field associates with royalty, nobility, power, and ambition. It also represents creativity, reminding us of Rapunzel, wisdom, dignity, devotion, and magic.

House Llyr Crest

- A crescent moon on a field of midnight blue, making it look like the night sky. A crescent moon has been the Llyr family crest for years. It symbolizes intuitiveness, empowerment, and womanhoodโ€” which relates to the Llyr family again as the women were known to be sorcerers and had access to magic. A crescent moon also means that life is about to take a new turn, relating to Taran's life changing when he met Eilonwy and vice-versa. The midnight blue represents elegance, confidence, power, and mystery.

House Torul Crest

- A hippocampus (or a literal sea horse) on a scaled blue field. A sea horse is considered a symbol of strength, power, and protection. They also mean friendliness and gentleness. Their colors are a light and dark ocean blue. It symbolizes serenity, stability, inspiration and wisdom. The dark gray of the hippocampus represents neutrality, balance, and compromise. But it can also represent inflexibility, self-denial, and suppression. The scales in the back refer to protection from predators.

House Khione Crest

- A golden tree with a single apple across a dark gray blue field. The dark field represents the dreariness Snow felt during her time with the Evil Queen while the gold tree is her, prospering despite her tragic life. The tree symbolizes growth, union, and liberation. Gold also means generosity and compassion.

INDEPENDENT KINGDOMS:

House Almas Crest

- The banner depicts a side view of a dominant tiger, aggressive but not outwardly. The tower of Agrabah's Seat of Power in the background on a field of pale orange-yellow, meant to showcase Agrabah's sandy climate. The tiger represents Jasmine, whom has a tiger for a companion, Rajah. Tigers also symbolize strength, cunning, majesty, independence, and bravery. Having the castle in the background is to show that the tiger is there to protect it and its inhabitants.

House Li & House Fa Crest

- A red dragon with yellow magnolias positioned in a way as though it were shooting flames across a black field banner. The red dragon is a nod to Mulan being her family's Great Dragon (as well as Mushu). The magnolia's also literally mean Mulan's, as that's her name in Chinese. The red is for courage, danger, and sacrifice. It also relates to emotional intensity. The amber of the flowers is for support and hope, but it also means safety. The black field refers to authority, misunderstood, and represents a burnt field, a way to show the dragon as the glorious victor amongst its dead.

House Pendragon Crest

- This banner depicts King Arthur's sword with a crown joined at its centre before a red glowing field. The glow only intensifies the sword and crown, which symbolizes the Pendragon's both royal and warrior sides. The shades of red mean different things such as ambition, confidence, gentle, strong, and inspiring. Its flaws include narcissism and being unpredictable. It's not known whether the sword is Caliburn or Excalibur.

New Olympus Coalition Crest

- This banner depicts a bronze golden Corinthian glowing helmet on a white, blue, and black field. The helmet is of Old Greece and its bronze colors refers to their experience, strength and security. The helmet is also a message to the other kingdoms that they're still warriors in times of peace and not to be trifled with. They have the golden blood of the gods within them no matter how red they bleed. The field colors are a nod to the real life Greek flag, the white for peace and honesty (and clouds to show where Zeus rules). The blue for loyalty and justice (and the sea to show where Poseidon rules). The black is for mystery and the unknown (and for the Underworld, where Hades rules).

trivia time!

these have been in the making for a long time now, but i never thought about publishing them and then realized, well, then what are they for?? just for me and like six of my friends whom i rant to about this story? hopefully you guys enjoy my hard work and despite this not really applying to plot it does apply to world building which i love just as much.

- the first crest i made was the Charmante one, it was very quick and came easy to me

- the hardest ones have probably been the Rose, Pendragon, and Fa crests. The Rose one almost killed me im ngl, i almost abandoned the project all together bc of it.

- Robin Hood's crest is also a fox bc of his animated movie, duh.

- The Arendelle crest is the same as the movie only I made some tweaks as well as added the reindeer.

- The Southbreak crest is intentionally made to look bland and almost political.

- The Beast symbol is technically from Descendants, it's the same one legit. It's also very empty but as you read, that's the point.

- I had a fight with myself over whether or not to go with a firefly or a frog for the Salientia's. the firefly won mainly bc it's prettier (and i highly doubt Tiana and Naveen wanna reminisce about their time as frogs and the plenty of times they almost died)

- The Solis crest is also the same, but i mean, it was perfect, why mess with it?

- The Llyr family crest was said to be a crescent moon, i just gave it more oomph.

- Snow White's crest also almost killed me, one of the first ones that did not go easy on me. The tree is an easter egg to Snow White and the Huntsman (2012).

- I may or may not have been inspired by HOTD's Velaryon's house sigil. It's a cool sigil.

- There is a Jafar version of Jasmine's crest. Yet to be seen.

- The Fa and Li Crest was originally going to be a whole thing with a dragon, sword, and flowers. Got rid of the sword and it was actually my friend who suggested i put the flowers in a way that looks like fire coming from the dragons mouth.

- The Pendragon banner was killing me bc originally it was going to feature a dragon (it's their namesake ffs) but i changed it considering then i'd have three banners of dragons (mal's, mulan's and this one) i took two days and made this instead.

- my first draft of the new olympus banner looked a lot more like PJO's Camp Half-blood's t-shirts only in gray. It was very bland and did not look good. I think I went in a better direction.

if you have any questions about the flags, please feel free to ask!
