"Don't show nervousness around Selina...she'll eat you for breakfast and dinner," Gray told me as he stopped in front of a high-end boutique that laid in the heart of Gotham

My expression quickly scrambled the moment I comprehended his statement, causing him to chuckle lowly and me to roll my eyes.

"I'm just kidding. Selina is just like us in a sense." He quickly remonstrated

"I hope so," I replied as I looked out the window, gazing at the shiny glass walls of the boutique that showcased Gotham's finest and snobbiest shopping their pretty little heads off

"I know so." Gray then proclaimed, gently placing his hand in my grasp leading me to face his piercing stare

Suddenly, all my nerves coming from being alone with Selina for a while shifted to her son.

"Why did God make you attractive?" I asked, exhaling air I didn't even know I held

Richard just smirked and shook his head before moving his hand to the side of my neck, pulling me closer, and placing his lips against mine.

"Here's my card. I know what to expect, so don't think too much about it." He said as he pulled away, slowly placing a cold, steel black card in my purse

"No, I-" I began to rant, causing him to pull me closer to kiss me again, only a bit rougher

By the time we let off of each other I was breathless, and he was smiling ear to ear.

"What was that?" He then asked, causing me to turn toward and almost melt in the leather passenger seat while biting my lip

"Me and the wild bunch will be down the street. Cass has a thing for suits, so she's going to be with us. But don't be surprised if she pops up to be around you." Gray said as I looked his way once more

"Alright. Thank you, baby." I replied before getting out of his car and shutting the door behind me

As I approached the storefront doors, I immediately noticed the gold-encrusted handles.

"Dawn!" Gray called

Turning around, I noticed him smiling again. He then leaned out of the passenger window a bit and said, "I love you."

A few people looked over at him as if he were talking to them, but his eyes and heart were in sync with mine.

"I love you," I replied as I smiled before turning away again and walking into the boutique with diminished nerves

I began to look at the all-white and gold interior, as well as the many chandeliers that helped top off the building's elegance, as if the many luxury brand dresses and heels weren't enough.

"Hello, future daughter-in-law!" Selina cheered with an ecstatic clap that left a few of the women in the store looking over at Selina with dirty looks

I would say she walked over, but that wouldn't do Selina's walk any justice. She strutted over—barely stopping as she gave the women giving her dirty looks a scowl in return—before she stopped in front of me and gave me a warm smile.

"First thing you should know about these women is when you take one of the Wayne's they'll hate you for life. Double, if you weren't born with a silver spoon stuck to your ass." Selina said, not changing her tone as she smiled

"You ready to help me, help you adapt to the hate?" She asked, causing me to smile

A woman from the streets of Gotham and a woman from many different foster homes about to piss out a group of snobby assholes.

I think I'm down.

"Let's do it," I replied as the women in the corner of the boutique murmured their judgments about Selina and me as well

"You old enough to have a drink, gorgeous?" Selina then asked

"22," I replied

"Fantastic! Robbie, may I have your finest bottle of Armand de Brignac as well as your most exquisite palette of hors d'oeuvres?!" She announced loud enough for the entire store to hear as gasps erupted amid her words

"Right away, Mrs. Wayne." The bartender replied with a smile and wink

'At least he's on our side,' I thought to myself

"Come on." Selina then said as she began to walk over away from the women who couldn't mind their business even if they had blinds

She then sat at a table in the back, away from our watch party, causing me to do the same as she sighed with a chuckle.

"I come in here sometimes just to watch their faces wrinkle, I swear." She said, continuing to laugh

"How do you deal with that constantly? It's such bullshit." I asked with a low scoff

"Because they looked at me like that even before I could sit at a table with them, and now that I can, it only infuriates them more," Selina answered

"I just hope you're ready for it," Selina added

"What do you mean?" I asked

"I mean, I have known Richard a long time. Long enough to know the kid wears his heart on his sleeve when he cares, and he wants to be with you for the long haul." She rebutted as Robbie and his team came out with the refreshments, placing them on the circular glass table in front of our seats

"You think?" I then asked with a smile burning my insides

"I'm married to Bruce. He happens to be the most emotionally unavailable man sometimes. I've seen the way Richie looks at you, I know." Selina explained as Robbie popped the cork of the metal bottle before pouring the liquid into the two glasses and stepping away

I found myself laughing lowly at the statement.

Bruce must truly dislike like emotions.

"That was one of the first things Gray told me about Bruce too," I said

"It's the truth. We all love him, but he can tick all of us off from time to time." Selina said as she picked up the glass and took a sip

"There was one time Bruce decided to take everyone's electronics because they weren't performing well in...school, and Richard, Jason, Tim, Damian, and Cassie decided to form an alliance to drive him crazy, and by the end of it, he borderline sent them to live in our home downtown." Selina ranted, causing me to laugh

"Let me guess! Richard was a wild child growing up?"

"Well, not until he became a junior in high school," Selina answered with a smile

"Let's start trying on some dresses, and I'll tell you about the time Richie and Jason almost broke the manor after fighting each other after a misunderstanding." Selina proposed as she grabbed a cheese cube and raised her eyebrow

"Alright, Dawn, I need to see!" Selina called as I stood behind the curtain of the dressing room, looking in the mirror

The gown hugged my body like it had knew me in a past life, and every move I made rather drastic or in the slightest the Swarovski crystals covering the dress seemed to dance in the light.

I looked amazing, but something felt weird about me being this dressed up. I had never been this done up in my life, and Selina's already telling me this will be a bit of my future with the Wayne family.

God, I admired the woman's resilience.

Pulling the curtain open, I immediately saw Selina standing tall —still wearing the deep-v plunged cut black gown she had picked for herself— with her champagne glass in hand.

"You look absolutely stunning!" Selina proclaimed with her mouth slightly agape and her eyes equally as wide

"Thank you," I replied, trying to hold back a chuckle filled with embarrassment for myself

"I will have all the guys, including Richie, come down here if you don't believe me." She then said, causing my eyes to grow wide

"No!"
