FIRE BREATHER.
002. | ❛ do you want me to heat that up? ❜
The fire breather twiddled her thumbs together, waiting for the interrogation to start. Waking up, she was assessed by a man who is probably in his late twenties. After the check up, they moved her into a new room that was nicer than the hospital bed that she'd been laying in.
The bed had the softest touch which was an improvement from sleeping in the streets all this time. People would bring in food and check in on her emotional state as well as physical. If they rescued her then they probably know what she was.
She started noticing how they would be picky with their words, not wanting to anger her. Yet the concept still didn't wrap around her head on why they chose to save her. Perhaps if they didn't save her, she would drown and actually die. Because like the old tale that were whispered, fire cannot kill a dragon.
Seraphina looked at the fireplace and the burning flames dancing around on the wood. She took her blanket and wrapped in around her, and taking a place on front of the fire. The trance that fire had over her was pretty fascinating, it made her almost forget what hating herself felt like. How she longed to be in the heat once again, to have it warm her up and engulf her until she was the scaly dragon that many feared. She leaned in closer where the fire was face to face with her. Seraphina put her hand forward into the fire, unlike humans the fire didn't bother her it was more of welcoming to her body, to her being.
Seraphina felt a presence in the room which caused her to get out of her trance but not enough to remove her hand from the fire. Unfortunately, she didn't have to remove it because the unknown presence did it for her.
She looked up to see who the person was and was greeted by a another redhead similar to hers, who was marveling at how Seraphina wasn't burnt. There was no burn, no inflammation, nothing that pointed to her being hurt. The stranger gave back Seraphina her hand, and lurking around her room before uttering a sentence.
"No wonder, Tony wanted me on this assignment."
Seraphina tilted her head sideways at the mention of an unknown name. The red head took a seat at the table on the other side while she sipped her coffee. In that same second, the unknown had a face that looked bitter.
The fire breather snaked her way to the table, knowing that this was a way to get information out of her. She pulled out the chair and took a seat in front of the red head before saying her first words to her, "Do you want me to heat that up for you?"
The unknown lifted an eyebrow before she passed the coffee to Seraphina, who took it into her hands and continued to stare at the redhead.
"You don't seem that dangerous if you offered to heat up my coffee," The redhead said making it obvious that she had some Intel on the fire breather.
"You haven't seen my true form, Ma'am" Seraphina spoke properly before handing the cup back to the lady.
"Ma'am? I should introduce you to Steve," The lady joked and taking a sip at the coffee which was the perfect temperature to drink. "Not bad."
"May I ask what they call you?"
"Natasha Romanoff."
"Can I ask what they call you?" Natasha asked with Seraphina clearing her throat before responding.
"I have no name, well I did. After being here for so long, people forget my name and just remember the legend that I am."
"What was your name back then?"
"Seraphina."
"No last name?"
"If I had one, then I surely don't remember."
Natasha leaned back in her chair before proceeding with what she was commanded to do. She reached underneath her leg to where Natasha kept the file hidden from Seraphina's eyes, wanting to build a trustworthy environment. Opening the file, Seraphina had her eyes peeled at the photos in it. One's of her in a hospital bed, another of her in a river, and the last one was her in a scaly form. She guessed that all the pictures must have been taken in the last couple of days or however long she's been in these people's grasp.
"You're safe, here."
"Where is here?"
"It's what we call SHIELD. They protect people like you, what some would call inhumans." Natasha said with Seraphoma scoffing at the word of inhumans. There wasn't anything inhuman about Seraphina, there was something hazardous about her, dangerous, a person that needed to be locked up.
"Can I ask why you jumped off the George Washington Bridge and landed in the Hudson River?"
"Truth or lie?"
"Let's here the lie first."
"My friends bet me 1 million dollars to jump, I was going to use that money to buy a bunch of shoes."
"And the truth?"
She stopped herself from answering that question but if they knew that she jumped by herself then they knew other things about her as well. Seraphina twiddled with her thumbs before answering Natasha's question.
"I wanted to die. I tried before you rescued me."
"I didn't rescue you. That rescue goes to Tony, Steve, and Bucky."
Seraphina looked confused at Natasha before she realized what she said, "You don't know any of those names."
"Why did they save me?"
"Because Tony believes that you can be saved from whatever you believe false about yourself. And even though I normally don't agree with him, I think he's right."
"Why are you so sure?"
"Because you and I have things in common and some of you is still human."
Seraphina could tell that Natasha meant what she said, it was one of the skills that she had, to know if someone was being truthful. She smiled at the hope that people still believed that she had some good left in her.
"You and I are going to be very good friends, Ms. Romanoff."
