Want to make good plot twists?

Here's a tip:

Untwist the twist.

Everyone's expecting the character to... Something.

Hold on I need to make a mini story in my head for an example.

Janet and Ryan are being chased by... The Areses.

"Ryan!", Janet called out. "I'm coming!", Ryan yelled, running around the block, skin pale like he saw a ghost. Janet knew what he saw. "Janet we have to get out. N-", Ryan started, being cut off by a another voice. "Where do you two think you're going!"

What do you think will happen next?

The ares will probably show up.

But, what would happen if they didn't?

"Where you two think you're going!", a voice calls out. It belonged to a young man, most likely about fifteen years old. "Don't you know the Areses will be here any minute! Get over here!",he calls out. Janet looks to Ryan, he usually made major decisions. Once he started walking to him, she knew they would need a complete need a complete change of plans.
