Karan was busy in meeting .His phone rang but he ignored..The phone kept ringing  insistently and it was  shanti ..but as karan was busy he didn’t lift it or even see it ..Om barged in while meeting was going on and karan knew something was wrong with teja ..

Karan :Om .What happened ,Is teja fine?

Om : I am sorry bhai but you should know teja isn’t at  our house                                    

Karan was tensed immediately

Karan : What do you mean ?She was at home ..Where did she go ?She shouldn’t be roaming around ..She is weak ..

Om : After you left she suddenly left the house Shanti tai  tried to stop her but she just ran ..She tried calling you but you weren’t picking it up so she called me

Karan : Damn it ..I will take care of it .If she returns please call me back …

He rushed out and then suddenly something hit him and he rushed back into the cabin …

Karan: When you said she isn’t there ,her things are they still there ?

Om could hear the fear from his voice..He couldn’t believe this is the same karan  kundrra whom he worked for years who was  walking machine who knew only work and sex ,no emotions nothing was now scared for a girl..His eyes held fear

Om: No her luggage bag everything are at home ..

Karan sighed in relief ..

Karan : I will find her ..

He immediately called her but she didn’t pick up and after few rings its was disconnected automatically …He tried few more times but same thing happened..Karan was frustrated

Damn her! Why does she has to be so difficult ….She just has to be the annoying pain in my a**..HE immediately went to her house to see if she went there but it was locked…After that he went to her college to see if she was there …He asked few of the students but  none of them had seen her and it was almost evening and college was about to close so there no way she was here..He checked her favourite library ,coffee shops as well….He even called vidhi if she knows anything but even vidhi knew nothing about teja..

After assuring that he would call vidhi later after finding teja ..He started again ..by now it was almost 9 pm and it was dark..He was exhausted and scared for her now..HE searched almost all the places ..He got into his range rover and rested his head against the steering ….HE saw everywhere ..Then it clicked it …HE knew where she would be ..He started his car..

He was right!..There she was lying on the sand in the rain …

Teja didn’t know where to go ..The world was closing on her …She was going to leave him again as shell that he was before..The guilt was gnawing her ..She was lying on the beach looking at the waves trying to reach the sky failing each time and going back again…Thus was her life …Karan was her sky..She was the little wave…She can desire all she wants but her chances of spending rest of her life with karan happily were as odd as the chances of waves reaching the sky ….She heard her phone ring and it was karan .

“HE must be worried for me but I don’t have enough courage to look into his eyes ..”

She ignored his calls…

She didn’t know how long she was there …She didn’t even realise when it started raining ..

“What the fuck do you think you were doing “

She was startled by his voice..It was angry and worried both…He was coming close and she was surprised she wasn’t scared at all..

She just smiled at him and looked back at water again ..

He sighed and sat next to her in the rain.

Karan: you are responsible for my spoiled clothes..These are expensive..

Teja chuckled.

Teja: no one asked you to come here ..

Karan : Why are you here teja?

Teja : So that no one sees my tears in this rain ..

Karan saw that she was right ..It was difficult to see her tears in midst of the raindrops but he could see them ..He could clearly see the difference between raindrops and tear drops..Her red rimmed eyes were witness for it…

He wanted to hug her ,,her arms were itching to encircle her  and comfort her but he just didn’t know right words…So both just left it at that and kept looking at the sea as if it would answer them.It didn’t bother them that it was still raining and they were drenching ..

Teja: So how was your date ?

Karan looked at her confused .

Teja: With Hina? The lady who called you yesterday

Karan left an amused chuckle ..

Karan: Firstly I don’t date anyone…. except you .Secondly Hina is famous oncologist ..My sister’s friend ..I went to meet her for  you ..Her success rate is really good especially with recurrence cancer

Teja frowned ..

Teja: Vishal’s success rate is good too ..

Karan: I know  that .but It was vishal who suggested me Dr.Hina ..Then I spoke to my sister..Vishal and Hina are ready to work together

Teja nodded and again turned her concentration to the sea. …..After few minutes

Teja : Karan ?

Karan: Hmmm?

She let out a sob..

Teja : I …I don’t ..I don’t want to di..Die….

It was like her dam broke and she kept sobbing ..That was it for him and he just enveloped her in his hug as if protecting her ..

Karan : And I wont let you ..I will not let anything happen to you…

He broke the hug and cupped her cheeks ..

Karan: I know its difficult to trust me  but I promise teja I wont let anything happen to you …

Their faces were just inches apart which teja closed as she knew she wanted this at this moment as an assurance …This kiss was not like previous ones..It was  more of assurances and protectiveness..

After a while the broke the hug and kiss as he cupped her face in his palm…

Teja: I think its time to go home ..

Karan : Good because I am really wet and dirty ..

Teja looked at him shocked and laughed when his face changed as realization drawn on him of the words he said …

When they reached home he picked her up in his arms and took her to her room and made her comfortable on bed.

Karan: You need anything else?

Teja: Yes..You ..

Karan smiled …

Karan: Me to but you need rest …you are tired today …

She nodded and slept ..

After few hours teja felt uncomfortable  and she knew what will happen now ..she rushed to washroom and when she came out what she feared the most hit her : Pain …Her whole pain erupted in pain as if someone was hammering her and then pricking her with needles ..There wasn’t a single bone or joint  which didn’t ache ..She couldn’t  control anymore and doubled over on the floor and lied on the floor as she couldn’t help herself to the bed …She couldn’t help the sobs that burst out of her and muffled them  while she dragged her knees close to her face as she lay near the bathroom door on her side…

Karan woke up when he heard slight whimpers ..It felt like some wounded puppy was crying in pain …..He immediately rushed to Teja’s room when the whimpers were more clear and painful..He saw teja curled up in ball on floor whimpering ..

He immediately rushed to her to help her but she held her hand stopping him ..

Teja: Stop !!Just stop!! Don’t….Just don’t touch me…….It hurts karan …Don’t… please don’t touch me

He kneeled next to her helplessly unable to touch her but it was killing him to see her thrashing in pain like that and he couldn’t do anything …

Karan : Om!!! Om!!!! Come fast ..Call Dr. Vishal immediately ..

Om who came running saw teja and immediately went out calling ..

Karan looked at teja who tried to muffle her sobs..Tears escaped his eyes seeing her like this

Karan : Teja listen We have to atleast make you  comfortable…I Promise I will be quick ..

Teja knew what he is saying is right …the mattress would be better for her body right now than the hard floor

Teja: Ooomph ..aah..Okay ..Just… do it quickly

Karan lifted her and put her on bed as quickly and as softly as possible..

It was difficult for him ..He wanted to hold her hand comfort her ,hug her ,whisper her assurances but the fact that his touch would give her more pain that comfort was  unbearable for him..

Vishal was very fast and came quick ..He gave her some pain killers and some injection to make her sleep..

 Vishal looked at karan and gave him a small smile and patted him on his shoulder and left….

Karan knew she was out of pain and now he can hold her hand ..So he did that …Infact he clutched it …

Teja: this is why I didn’t want to tell anyone about myself..It gets more tougher ..

Karan felt stabbed to hear that she had to hide her pain .

Karan: Teja I didn’t leave you because I was  angry or hurt…I left you because I was scared ..I was scared of this …I couldn’t see you like this ..It is killing me to see you in pain and I am unable to do anything…I feel helpless and useless..

She tried to wipe tears off his cheeks ..he held her wrist and kissed her tattoo of his name..

Karan:  you know I was waiting for you to show me this like a kid that you are ..Why didn’t you show me ..I was waiting since the day I saw you in café for you to show me this ..

She smiled and pulled her hand back and kissed her hand on his name ..The same spot he kissed..

Teja: This is not for you ..( she held her wrist close to her heart)  This is for me ..You know karan at one point  people may or may not be in your life but they can always be in your heart ..I wanted your presence in my life to be etched into myself so much that  you will be a part of me ….

HE kissed her forehead …When he broke the kiss he realised she slept…He covered her and left to his room …..
