Gouenji anxiously paced around the living room as he glanced at the clock every five minutes. It had been two hours since Kira had left. He had tried calling her but to no avail. She would not pick up her phone.

He was contemplating going out to find her when suddenly his phone blared. He wasted no time in picking it up. He was taken aback as he heard Kira slowly sobbing on the other side. He anxiously fired an array of questions,

"Where are you, Kira?!Why are you crying?What happened?"

"Shuuya, come pick me up! I'm so scared!" She managed to speak between sobs.

"Just tell me where you are! I'm getting there right now!" He exclaimed.

Kira then told him her location and Gouenji wasted no time in reaching her.

Gouenji realised she had walked a considerable distance away from home as he set out to find her. She was hiding against the wall of an alley cautiously looking in every direction while sobbing occasionally.

As soon as she saw him, she ran and hugged him like her life depended on it. She was now crying hysterically and he tried to comfort her,

"It's okay. I'm here now. Tell me what happened?Are you okay?" He asked.

"Th...there was this very strong guy with long fang-like teeth and....and...he attacked me. He wanted to kill me. He didn't even.....seem....real. It's like he was.......was some supernatural being." Kira managed to speak, somewhat incoherently, between sobs, "I somehow tried to fight him off and screamed as loud as I could but before he left he said.....he said he will come back for me." She broke down again as she finished her last sentence.

Gouenji's heart sank as he heard the account of what happened. It was no denying that the creature she was talking about was another vampire. He never thought there were any others around that part of the town. He had thought it was just him but clearly, he was wrong and his mistake had almost endangered Kira's life. He felt incredibly guilty for letting Kira storm out in that eerie autumn night. He hadn't thought she would walk out so far away from home.

He placed a kiss on top of her head and hugged her tighter. He consoled her telling that he wouldn't let anything happen to her ever and helped her slowly walk back home.

Kira's eyes focused into the void as she lay in her bed thinking about everything that had happened. She had pretended not to know who she had faced, in front of Gouenji but there wasn't a shadow of doubt about it in her mind that she had come face to face with someone she had only heard of like an urban legend.

A cannibalistic vampire.

There were legends that talked of vampires who turned against their own kind because it said to make them invincibly powerful, a strength no human or animal blood could bring. Kira had always believed it to be just a story. Afterall, there were hardly any encounters with them on record. She thought people were just making it up. What she did not know was that the reason for this was actually the fact that very few lived to tell the story.

Kira could still feel a faint sensation of his grip on her wrist and around her neck as he had pulled her into a headlock and dragged her to that dimly lit alley. The only way she was able to escape was because he had not expected her to be as strong as she was. He had expected her to easily succumb because of how timid she looked but he was wrong. She had kicked on his foot and elbowed him into his stomach to set herself free. She tried to run but he caught hold of her wrist and dragged her back mercilessly but luckily she did not lose her balance and somehow managed to sink her sharp teeth into his hand to free her from his grip. Following that, she started screaming on top of her lungs.

"You are more powerful than I thought." His voice sounded menacing, "I will come back for you and that husband of yours." He said as he swiftly disappeared.

"Wait...what?" Kira mumbled in surprise at the last part of that sentence. She could not understand what did he mean by it or how he had known all of this in the first place. She was panting from the fight and as she slowly dropped down on the street, taking the support of a wall, tears brimmed her eyes as she finally began to internalize what had just happened. She then wasted no time calling Gouenji to her rescue.

Kira turned to her side facing Gouenji who seemed sound asleep. She frowned with worry as the vampire's words echoed in her mind.

"Just what did he mean?" She faintly muttered.

"Mm?" Gouenji slowly opened his eyes to look at Kira.

"I'm sorry, did I wake you up?" Kira asked in a whisper.

"No, I couldn't sleep either." He answered in a whisper too.

"What will happen now?" Worry was evident in her voice.

"Don't worry about it, we'll be fine. I assure you." He said as he pulled her closer but in reality, he wasn't any less worried than her.
