~ Five ~
The days passed quickly. Never was there a dull moment. Since Jordan and I had become good friends over the years of Saving Summer, she came along with me for bits and pieces of my book promotion. Which included book signings, small tv interviews, and the occasional preview reading. Which basically meant I read a paragraph or two. Since I had one of those every single day except for Saturdays, I slowly got worn out. The book had rocketed larger than anyone could have expected. So Jordan came with me, as well as Mariah. It was nice to have support.
"It's early. Why am I here?" Jordan whined as we crawled into the van at six am. Mariah had university classes that day, so it was only Jordan, one of my publishers and my agent. My publisher and agent were a bit older than Jordan and I, so they were involved in their own conversation.
"Because you chose to be? Plus it's Radio 1. You haven't shut up about the fact that you get to meet Grimmy," I joked before bringing the steaming coffee in my hands to my lips. Coffee was literally the only way I could be halfway awake at this time of the morning.
"That's right. Grimmy. I'm doing it for Grimmy." Jordan repeated over and over again sluggishly, her head going to rest against the window.
"Hey, Anna, how exactly does a radio interview work?" I leaned forward to ask my agent.
The thirty year old paused her conversation, turning so her black curly hair flipped to the side. "Same as a normal interview. You just don't show the book off. Nick Grimshaw will ask you a few questions, such as 'where did you get your inspiration' or 'what made you write this book?' and then you'll read a little excerpt. Same as your normal. Then you chat like good friends. The end! They start playing Saving Summer's latest single."
"Ha, ha." I rolled my eyes at her last sentence. But then I paused and looked at her with wide eyes. "Wait, you're kidding, right?"
"Maybe. I don't know. From what I've heard, they're beyond massive right now." Anna shrugged, a small glint of amusement in her eyes at my deer in the headlights expression.
"But what if people think I'm using my friendship with him to get my book big?" I asked in pure worry.
"Don't worry, love. I highly doubt anyone will think that."
"Speaking of Saving Summer, James just texted me to tell you that they're all going to be listening. Wow, they haven't even gone to bed yet. How weird is that?" Jordan stared at her phone, exhaustion evident in her wonder-filled voice and expression.
I immediately reached into my messenger bag, since usually when Jordan got a text from James, I'd get one from Tristan. Sure enough, a little red dot blinked at the corner.
From: Potato :)
Listening to Radio 1! Can't wait to listen to you! Miss you loads :) xxxx
"Ugh, he's so stupid. I swear. He's a lovesick puppy who refuses to admit it. James said he hasn't stopped talking about you and that, despite how much Marcus and James love you, if they hear your name one more time.. Tristan might not come back in one piece." Jordan sighed as she looked over my shoulder.
"I wish. But I'm just his best friend. That's all I'll ever be, you know? He's so afraid of commitment. That's why he focuses all his time on girls that just want his fame or money, because to him, there's no strings connected to it. Which he likes the best. No strings attached." I muttered, my eyes wandering to look out the window. Scenery flashed by and I had to take a few calming breathes, so I didn't burst into tears.

"Miss Tatiana Evans, what's it like to have your book published? Not exactly an easy feat!" Grimmy grinned widely at me.
"Incredible. Surreal. I don't think it's quite yet hit me, actually!" I said truthfully, messing with the mic a bit so it could catch my words.
"Where'd you get your inspiration for it? And for those of you who haven't read it yet- The story is a romance that includes time travel. Definitely a roller coaster!"
"Um, I never know what to answer this question with! I feel like I take inspiration from everything. Friends, family, strangers.. Even inanimate objects. I've literally had times when I'll walk past.. Let's say a lamp. An idea will pop into my mind and I'll be like 'Oh hey, what if I wrote about so and so.' Plus, music helps. I can't write in silence." I replied, trying to keep my voice light and exciting. Anna had drilled me on radio etiquette while we waited; Apparently it's all about the voice.
"I'm going to take a stab at what you listen to while writing.. You ready?" Grimmy winked and I had to keep myself from rolling my eyes. "Saving Summer! Am I right or am I right?"
"You caught me! Who woulda guessed?" I gasped in fake shock.
"If I'm correct, you're extremely close to lead singer; Tristan McClure?"
"Not really.. He's in America right now, so the proximity right now is pretty far. But if you meant friendship wise, yeah, we're pretty close." I laughed.
"Twist my words and make me look stupid, why don't you? Well, enough about real boys. Fictional boys are so much more exciting, are they not? Tell us about the lead male in A Lonely Night," Grimmy prompted.
"Grant is a independent character. He tells himself how perfectly fine he is on his own, and is actually afraid of falling in love. When he meets this girl -Shiloh- he learns more about himself. The development of his personality is a large focus of the entire book," I explained "Kind of a reminder that everyone has that chance. Everyone can experience that crazy emotion called love."
"Would you mind reading a little bit of your story?" Grimmy tilted his head.
"Of course not!" I piped up, as I flipped open the star-ridden book cover in front of me. Once I had reached the highlighted section, I started talking. Completely and totally aware that Tristan was listening at that exact moment. "It seemed almost unthinkable. Impossible; That's what he thought. Because to Grant, falling in love seemed about as possible as a unicorn showing up at his front door with a new flatscreen TV. Sometimes he wished -he yearned- to be told that no matter what, someone would be there for him. But to say that out loud? Grant could never do that. He'd rather die a hundred deaths than admit to others that his life wasn't picture perfect."
"Wow. Absolutely incredible! Make sure you pick up Tatiana Evan's first and newest book A Lonely Night! Despite the suggestive title, it is definitely worth getting. Now.. Onto our first song of the day! This is When I'm Gone by A Rocket To The Moon!"
