Chapter Two

"I think he's waking up!" Teddy called from his spot next to Billy's cot in the Mount Justice infirmary.

Billy let out a low groan as the Young Avengers and Young Justice teams both gathered around him, the Justice League standing off to the edge of the room. Billy blinked his eyes open with a wince. "Why does it feel like the time we raided Kate's dad's alcohol cabinet?" He sat up slowly, holding his head. It took him a second to notice where he was and that his team was not alone. "Uh, what did I miss while I was out?"

"Billy, you teleported us to another dimension. This is the Justice League and their equivalent of us. Do you not remember inhaling all that venom after we landed here?" Kate asked, watching as Billy processed everything.

"Nice try, guys. I'm not strong enough to teleport across dimensions. I do remember inhaling all that gas after I did that Joker venom spell. What was that, by the way?"

"Its a toxin created by a psychopathic clown. You're lucky to be alive." Batman explained, startling Billy when he spoke.

"Who are you? Guys, seriously, stop fooling around. Where are we?"

"Earth...just not our Earth." Teddy sighed, taking Billy's hands in his. "You know I would never lie to you. We are in a different dimension, Billy. That spell you cast right after our last mission? It brought us here."

Billy's eyes went wide and he shook his head furiously. "No. Not possible. Not...possible?" He closed his eyes, taking a few deep breaths before opening them again, noticeably calmer. "Okay, I will just take us home then. Can't be too hard, right?"

"Bil-"

"Everyone, take my hands." Resigned, the Young Avengers did what Billy said and joined hands. Billy looked over at the Justice League and smiled. "Thank you for the hospitality, but we must be going." He closed his eyes for a brief second, opening them to reveal glowing blue orbs. "IwanttogohomeIwanttogohomeIwanttogohome."

Billy and the Young Avengers began to glow the same bright blue as Billy's eyes before the color started to fade back into Billy. Blue lightening suddenly encased Billy and he let go of his teammates hands with a startled scream, curling in on himself as the lightening intensified, blinding those in the room.

"Billy!"

"What's happening?!" Artemis yelled to Kate as they shielded their eyes.

"His powers seem to be malfunctioning." Kate yelled back over Billy's pained screeching. "Normally he isn't hurt by his powers."

Zatara yelled out a spell and the lightening ceased. Everyone took their hands away from their eyes slowly, peering towards Billy. He laid on the cot, dazed as he let out an agonized moan.

Tommy was there in an instant, checking his brother over for injuries. When he deemed Billy okay, he turned to Batman. "What exactly does the Joker venom do?"

"Normally it makes people temporarily insane. But seeing as he is from a different universe and the Joker could have adjusted the toxin, the effects are unpredictable." Batman leaned over Billy, flashing a light in his eyes to check his pupils. "It seems to have messed with his brain, potentially disrupting his abilities."

"'Potentially'? I'd say it did a damn good job of disrupting his abilities!" Teddy snarled.

"Hey now, no need to get hostile." Superman interjected, stepping between Teddy and Batman. "We are just trying to help."

"Superman is right, Teddy, stand down. The Justice League and their team have been nothing but helpful since we arrived here." Eli put a hand on Teddy's arm, giving him a stern look. Teddy glared back for a second but calmed himself down, pushing past the Justice Leaguers to sit back down next to Billy.

Billy coughed roughly, seeming to come out of his daze after blinking a few times. He sat up, holding his head in his hands with a moan. "Ugh, that did not go as planned."

"Woah, thank you for that, Captain Obvious." Tommy drawled with an eye roll. "Now how are we supposed to get home, huh?"

"Hey, it's not my fault-"

"Kind of is, Billy." Kate shrugged.

Billy crossed his arms, grumbling under his breath. "Should've let you all die from Joker venom."

"Joker venom doesn't kill, typically." Robin interjected. "So that threat is invalid."

"My whole life is invalid now." Billy sighed dramatically, earning himself groans and eye rolls from his friends. "I'm sorry guys, it looks like we're stuck here."

"Great, what are we gonna do while we wait for mom and co to find us?" Tommy grunted.

"Ooh ooh, can we keep them? Please?" Wally pleaded with the Justice League, his hands clapsed together. "I promise I will feed them and water them and walk them."

"We're not dogs."

"Tommy acts like one."

"Hey!"

"Most of us aren't dogs."

"You'd really help us out?" Cassie asked, eyes wide and hopeful.

M'gann grinned, throwing an arm around Kate and Cassie's shoulders. "Sure we will, I mean, we messed up your teammate and we owe you for saving our lives."

"We need to discuss this-" Batman was cut off by a snort from Artemis.

When he glared at her she giggled. "I'm sorry, its just, you act like we'd listen if you said no."

"She has a point, sir, we have a track record of going against direct orders." Kaldur shrugged as respectively as one can. "Besides, we do owe the Young Avengers for saving our lives."

"Technically, it was all me, but whatever."

"Shut up Billy."

The Justice Leaguers exchanged looks amongst themselves before releasing a collective sigh. "Fine, but they stay at the Mountain. Understood?"

"Of course."

"Thank you so much! You won't regret helping us." Cassie beamed, hugging M'gann tightly.

"We better not." Batman narrowed his eyes at the new teens, turning to his team after a moment. "Let's debrief on the Injustice League and leave the Young Avengers to get settled. But be aware, we will be watching you."

Once the Justice Leaguers left the infirmary and the teens alone the two teams stared at one another, no one sure where to begin.

"So, where will we be sleeping?" Kate asked Artemis after a moment of tense silence.

"I'll show you to the spare rooms. Follow me." M'gann led the charge, the Young Avengers in the middle of the group with the rest of Young Justice bringing up the rear.

Was this the smartest idea? We don't even know this people!

We didn't even know Conner but we still took him in.

You make me sound like a stray dog.

If the shoe fits...

One of these days, Wallace, I swear.

M'gann stopped in the residence hallway, pointing at a dozen empty rooms. "Pick whichever you like, they are all unoccupied."

"Dibs on not sharing with Tommy!"

"There are enough rooms we don't have to share, doofus."

"Fight me."

"I went to prison, I'll kick your ass."

"Hey hey, stop it!" Kate stepped between the two brothers with her hands raised and a glare on her face. "Save your anger for training."

"Why will you be training?" Wally asked, eyeing the Young Avengers suspiciously.

"When we get back home we will have a lot of super heroics to catch up on. Gotta stay on top of it." Eli shrugged, walking into one of the empty rooms. "I hope you don't mind if we use your training area seeing as we are on lock down here."

The Young Justice squad shared a look, all sharing one collective thought in the mind link as the twins continued to bicker while Cassie and Kate claimed their rooms, leaving Teddy to play referee.

This ought to be interesting.
